保研英文面试常见问题及应答
1.自我介绍
I am supposed to get my undergraduate degree in the university of science and technology Beijing, majoring in materials. Mainly, my introduction shall cover three aspects.
First, when it comes to my study, it is through three years of hard work that I have built up a solid foundation of professional knowledge reflected not only by a decent ranking of first among 60peers, but also by the fact that I take an active part in various contests ranging from mathematical modeling to physics. And luckily, my efforts in preparations for them also lead to some academic honors and awards. These contests have expanded my knowledge, rather they have enhanced my comprehensive strength as well. Take mathematical modeling contest as an example. The contest usually lasts for three days. Two teammates and I must finish the work including data collecting, analyzing, modeling and paper writing. Since the time is limited and the work is fairly difficult and complex, we usually have to burn the night oil, thinking, programming and sometimes arguing. Such experiences taught me how to communicate and cooperate with others. Meanwhile, my skills of data analysis, modeling and paper writing have been significantly improved.
Second, I will talk about my scientific research experience. When I was sophomore, I participated in a project of science and technology plan focusing on heat treatment process, microstructure and property of ship high-strength-toughness steel. The effect of tempering temperature, holding temperature, holding time, and tempering time on the mechanical properties of the heat-treated plates were investigated. The microstructures of the hot-rolled and heat-treated plates were observed by scanning electron microscope. All these experiences remind me that theoretical principles and practical methods are the key to research activities.
Third, I will briefly describe my social activities. I joined in the Youth League Committee of my institute, and I have worked in the organization department. When I was the head of department, the successful completion of recruiting activities makes student organization grow steadily. And I planned and organized a series of student growth project to strengthen the communication of departments. What’s more, I won the title of "outstanding members".
The above is a simple introduction of my college life. As for myself, in my spare time, I like reading and running. I always hold that what I’ve learned these years is not enough to carry on dependent research thus I am eager for more.

I am easy-going and enthusiastic, enjoying a good relationship among my classmates. In my spare time, I like to read books regarding how to improve myself and also literatures. Music and movies are my favorite entertainments. As for my sport interest, I could not deny my greatest interest in badminton. Playing this game brings me a lot of happiness.
Besides, I am a determined person, always willing to achieve higher goals. What’s more, I am good at analysis, with a strong sense of cooperation. During my 3-year study in the university as an under-graduate student, I have built up a solid foundation of professional knowledge, as well as a rich experience of social activities. For example, during the past 3 years, I have got all sorts of awards, such as National scholarship. I have accomplished one College students' innovative projects focusing on heat treatment process, microstructure and property of ship high-strength-toughness steel.
4.为什么想读研,将来愿意从事的方向,读研时的打算
Although I grasp the essential knowledge of the major and can do many things in a superficial level at present, I am not competent to do things professionally owing to lack of ample knowledge and ability. So I think further study is still urgent for me.
The major that I hope pursue for my further education is tribology which is interdisciplinary science. Because I find tribology are playing a more and more important role in our modern society. And nowadays in China, with the recognition by the government, our domestic manufacturing industry is growing rapidly and that may provide a lot of chances to us.
I plan to concentrate on study and research in this field in my graduate time. And I hope I can form a systematic view of tribology and make a solid foundation for future profession.

We will go to visit our grandma together , who insists to live in the country , with a lot of delicious food . and help my grandma to clean her big house and do the dishes and the laundry . then we will have a dinner together .

Worked together with my friends who I got to know in the campus . the work we did is always tiresome ,but we felt happy
3. What is your greatest strength？
I think my strongest asset is my ability to stick to things to get them done. I feel a real sense of accomplishment when I finish a job. I’ve set some high goals for myself. For example, I have been doing 45 minutes of oral practice every day since four months ago. Therefore, I speak English more and more fluently.
4. What is your greatest weakness？（你最大的弱点是什么？）
如可说:“我是一个完美主义者。工作做得不漂亮，我是不会撒手的。”
I‘m such a perfectionist that I will not stop until a job is well done. As a result, my schedule is very tight and sometimes I become ineffective because of great pressure.

In my opinion, Tsinghua university provides people with enough room to get further enrichment. This is the first reason.
The second one is that I want to do research in tribology science throughout my life. It is a pleasure to be with my favorite work for lifetime. I suppose this is the most important factor in my decision.
Thirdly, I can do many things in a superficial level, but I am not competent to do things professionally owing to lack of ample knowledge and ability. so further study is still urgent for me. And It is necessary to seize any chance for self-development, especially in this competitive modern world.
In a word, I am looking forward to making a solid foundation for future profession.
6.研究生期间你的计划(plans in the postgraduate study)
First, I plan to concentrate on study and research in this field in my graduate time. What is more, I hope I can form a systematic view of tribology and put theory into practice in order to make a solid foundation for future profession. Then I will try to learn English well so that I can communicate fluently with people at international conferences.
7.介绍你的家乡(about hometown)
I am from Shanxi, which is located to the west of the Taihang Mountains, the east of the Yellow River. The industrial base of shanxi is strong and rich in mineral resources, including coal as well as aluminum. Shanxi has much natural landscape and humanistic landscape. Well, the ancient city of ping yao and mount wutai had
been listed as world cultural heritages. Mount wutai is famous as a Buddhist holy and it is one of the four most famous Buddhist mountains in china. Besides, it is a beautiful summer resort. What is more, shanxi’s noodles with a long history. According to check, there are almost 300 kind of noodles. They are not only tasty, but also have many special meanings. For example, a person who has birthday will eat ‘longevity noodle’, which means longevity. I like the peaceful and slow-rhythm lifestyle of my hometown, it makes me feel comfortable and free.

There are four members in my family, including my parents, my sister and I. My parents both are workers, they work every day without holidays to make enough money for our schooling. And my sister, who is five years younger than me, is in second grade in high school. During my preparation for coming here, my parents’ support have always been my power. And I hope in future I will be able to repay them.
