PART TWO

Describe a pleasant surprise you had

The surprise that I wanna describe was when I was a sophomore student, I remember it was the night before my birthday, at 12 o’clock in the midnight. I heard a knock on the door of my dorm, and the moment I opened it, I was almost petrified, cuz I saw a boy holding a large bundle of red roses, saying happy birthday to me. I was literally speechless then because I’d never received any flowers before, let alone they were from a boy.

My first reaction was perhaps there’s little misunderstanding going on here, cuz I had always been a straight man. After a quick glance at the embarrassed me, he smiled and explained that a girl in his class had a crush on me and since she can’t enter the boy’s dorm, she sent him here to give me the roses.

I gotta say it was indeed a huge surprise, and what the girl did really touched my emotions. Well, truth is, after some sweet twists and turns, the girl finally won my heart and she was my first love.

Unfortunately, we had gone our separate ways due to some reasons years later, but when thinking back on this exhilarating surprise, I can still feel her passion and bravery to chase what she really wants and her determination to get it done.

Describe an interesting website you have visited

Describe a useful app on phones, computers or tablets you know.

An interesting website that I wanna describe is the Bilibili web, basically it’s a web where we can get free movies or video stuff, but it was much more than that, actually the most special thing about it is that it got this function that people can make brief comments on the stuff they are watching, and this comments would be transformed into subtitles that roll on the screen so other viewers can see them which allows us to have a brand new viewing experiencing. Actually, this web has got a large fan base among the Chinese younger generation.

Well, I guess the reason why it is so popular is cuz nowadays young people in China face so much pressure in life and they got so many pent-up feelings inside that they need to find an outlet, which, in this case, is the instant rolling subtitles, to release their negative energy, and also partly because they want to get their inner voices heard at once even if sometimes they are just witty or sarcastic remarks about any details related to the video stuff.

Personally, I am really into this website, I remember yesterday I watched a classic movie on Bilibili, it’s quite fun and thought-provoking to read the rolling subtitles while watching.

Describe a time you lost your way

Speaking of a time that I lost my way, one month ago, some of my classmates in primary school decided to throw a class reunion party, and revisit our old school which is located in the suburb of my hometown, truth is I’ve never been there for like 10 years, I thought to myself wouldn’t it be a little awkward to see my former teachers?

But to my surprise, as I get closer to my school, I was baffled cuz everything seems changed, I remembered there should be a little lane that lead to my school, but the lane was replaced by an avenue with apartments on either side, actually I even use the e-maps for help and the map showed the school’s somewhere near me, but it’s still useless cuz no matter how hard I tried, I still can’t find the exact location. You know, I’ve always got a bad sense of direction and now I am totally clueless about where to go.

Fortunately, I came across some passers-by and consulted them about the route; they were so helpful that they even accompanied me till I get to my school. You can’t imagine how excited and relieved I felt the moment I saw the familiar gate of my school.

Describe a special toy you had in your childhood

Describe a happy family member event from your childhood that you remember well

A special toy that I had in childhood was Tuoluo, which was actually given by my Dad as a birthday present. Well, Tuoluo is a traditional type of Chinese toy, and has a history that can date back to the Han Dynasty.

Basically, it is a spinner made of wood. To play it, all you gotta do is use a whip to get it spinning and the most tricky part is to keep it spinning steadily and you can even use the whipping skill to control its direction.

Tuoluo adds lots of spice to my childhood, you know, I usually played it with my dad in the courtyard, we even held this regular competition during every Sunday afternoon, to see who can make it spin for the longest time. He was so skilled at

this that he always beat me in this game.

Anyway, I guess the reason why I was so into it is cuz it gave us lots of precious memory and also partly because it’s a good chance to experience a part of traditional Chinese culture. You know, nowadays, when I see children getting addicted to online games like League of legends, I feel kind of sad because they will never have this simple joy that I get from playing Tuoluo.

Describe an interesting thing you have learned from the Internet

An interesting thing I’ve learned from the internet was the ice bucket challenge, you know, one day I woke up in the morning and I log on my WeChat which is a popular Chatting App in China. You can think of it as the China’s version of SKYPE. And I found that lots of my friends are out of their mind cuz they posted short videos of dumping a bucket of ice water on their own heads and even worse they dared other people to do the same stunt.

I was wondering if they were doing some practical jokes, but soon I learned that it was an interesting activity that had gone viral on the Internet in recent days. In the first place, I thought it was just a silly little game that added a bit fun to our daily life routines and I am one of the participants as well, anyway it feels refreshing when I was pouring water on myself and people around me all laughed to tears, I figured it really gave me lots of positive energy.

However, after I goggled this activity, I got a better picture of what’s really happening behind this seemingly stupid game, it was actually a famous campaign intended to raise fund for the horrible ASL disease.

Describe a subject you didn’t like before but have interest in now

A subject I didn’t like before but have interest in now is the PE lesson, you know, Back in high school, I loathed PE lessons, it’s not simply because I got a lazy bone, but more often because I think it’s dirty to get sweaty after doing some sports exercises and I felt most of the sports were violent in essence and people might easily get hurt during the process.

What’s worse, my first PE teacher was so harsh and he always humiliated me in front of my classmates whenever I made some mistakes.

However, after a few years, due to the lack of sports, a lot of weight was gained and my body was often dysfunctional which brought me lots of hassles and frustration. So I’ve decided just to be athletic and keep my body in healthy conditions.

And I became an active participant in my PE lessons during college years and a frequent user of the School Gym where there hanged this red banner that said: “a strong mind starts with a fit body”, which really touched my emotions, and years later my efforts finally paid off. Now I feel dynamic and keep myself in good shape, besides, doing regular sports enables me to expand my social circles and helps me lift up my charisma.

Describe a person you know who is good at cooking

A person I wanna talk about who is good at cooking is my Dad. He had a knack for cooking, you know, normally my mom will cook at home because she is a professional housewife and my father is busy working to support the family but if there’s a family celebration or sth like that, my dad will cook a table of palatable food for the invited relatives, and everybody will have a chance to taste my Dad’s cooking art.

My dad often told us cooking is a type of art. Apart from some basic techniques like slicing or fire controlling, the first thing u need to bear in mind is have a holistic view to organize everything from seasoning to ingredients. And then put them into the right places and at the right time. Moreover, patience is also required cuz there are lots of time-consuming procedures involved while cooking. And most importantly, you gotta put your heart into the whole process.

Besides, my dad always keeps himself posted about the latest information about those cooking stuff and learn them whenever or wherever possible, for example, we usually watch “a bite of China” which is a popular documentary about rediscovering the most wonderful traditional Chinese cuisine and cooking styles, from which he draws lots of inspirations.

Describe a person who is a good leader

Describe a family member you want to work with

A leader that I wanna talk about is my dad, he is a perfect example of zero to hero, I mean he was once just a shopkeeper’s son, who made it all the way to be a well-off entrepreneur in my hometown, I guess the reason why he can secure a spot in a fierce commercial environment where other businessmen got eliminated very fast is cuz he always knows what he really wants and he is the person who

is willing to make sacrifices to get things done.

You know, he started from scratch, lacking of funds and social connections, but he is a resourceful person and let’s just say he got this special charisma to win people’s hearts and make them work for him. It’s not simply because he is caring and responsible, but more often because he is not a self-centered person and knows how to think in others’ shoes so as to fulfill their personal needs.

And I believe his positive attitude towards life is another factor that enables him to be the top-dog in the business world, he always looks on the bright sides of things and uses a flexible approach to deal with things that bug him and I feel that’s exactly why I want to work with him.

Describe a person you don’t like but have to be friendly to

A person I don’t like but have to be friendly to is my college English teacher, he is just about to reach his 30s but already has deep wrinkles on his forehead. He got this spiked hair and a dramatic face that can just produce all kinds of subtle expressions.

I gotta admit it’s a nightmare for me to attend his English class, it’s mainly because he is kind of cranky and are super-strict with the students, truth is, whenever he got pissed off in his life or work, he would make a attempt to vent his negative energy on us by picking on guys who make even the slightest mistakes. Besides, he is neither caring nor responsible, and what makes him even worse is he got a serious Chinglish accent when speaking English, which has a bad influence on our English pronunciation.

Anyway, I gotta be friendly to him, not only because I am his course assistant but also, otherwise, I might end up getting marked down in the final examination. You know, I feel it’s a pathetic thing because it’s deeply rooted in our traditional Chinese culture that teachers are like the absolute authority that nobody should challenge and they are usually respected unconditionally even if some of them are actually a pain in the neck.

Describe a place you remember going to that is full of color

Describe an ambition you have not achieved yet(future plan)

Describe a piece of good news from TV or Internet(听说不久要在家乡开?一家怀旧为主题的café)

An ambition that I haven’t achieved yet is that I got this life-long dream of opening a bar/café/restaurant/bookstore based on the theme of nostalgia.

Actually, I got this detailed plan to design and decorate the interior of my bar integrating contemporary and traditional elements and the most special thing of my bar is that I’ll use this vintage color to bring out people’s nostalgic sentiments. To be more specific, those brown antique furniture made of classy wood will be installed. Besides, the wallpaper should be of intricate baroque patterns and painted coffee.

Oh, and I guess I shouldn’t forget to hang some old photos on the wall, you know, those black-and-white photos can remind people of the past. I’ll also go for those stuff like old toys or books from 70s, 80s to add to the vibe.

You know it’s an amazing thing that colors have certain influence on people’s emotions, for example, bright colors would be a trigger for boosted mood and energy whereas dark ones can give us a sense of maturity.

I believe many people would be impressed by the color elements of my bar, and I’m pretty sure there would be a good chance for them to recapture the past life as they grab some beer or meals in my bar.

Describe a vehicle you want to buy in the future

recreational v…

A vehicle that I wanna have in the future is an RV, you know, I’ve already got a private car in my home. Actually, people buy private cars mostly for the sake of convenience, but maybe for others who are stupid rich, they will probably get the high-end sports car just to feed their vanity.

However, personally speaking, if I were to be loaded in the future, my money would get me an RV which I think could add lots of spice to my daily life routines and I would grab a chance to travel to the picturesque suburbs or anyplace my heart desires.

You know, you can think of an RV as a moving and multifunctional house where there’s everything you need to cater to the daily needs. For instance, you can cook a nice meal while enjoying the rosy sunset at dusk or have a tight sleep in the middle of the night.

Well, I guess the major benefit of having an RV is that I got such a good way to isolate myself that I can escape from the hustles and bustles from the outside world. Besides, there’s a good chance traveling in my RV can help me to regain the inner peace that I lost in this highly-competitive society.

A Important job in your country

A TV or radio program that you sometimes talk about with your family or friends

An old person you know who you respect

A person who you wanted to be similar to in teenage years/ a habit your fried has that you want to develop

Intro, He is the most famous “Xiangsheng” actor in my country. “Xiangsheng” is a type of traditional Chinese art, you can think of it as standup comedy in western terms.

Probably everyone in my country knows GDG and he has made an image of himself as a comedian so now we can see him in many comedy films. When people hear that GDG is gonna be in the film, they know for sure that it’s gonna be hilarious.

Basically, in his shows, he uses a humorous approach to reflect certain problems we have in life and makes witty remarks about social problems. You know nowadays, we face so much pressure in life that we need people like him to remind us that life is not as hard as we think it is and we should have a different perspective towards the things that annoy us.

I think he has a wonderful influence on everyone because he is giving us a lot of positive energy through his shows and brings us the optimism that we need to keep on going with our life.

An occasion that you borrow sth from others

A time you waited for sb

Intro, my parents went on vacation and I wanted to go downstairs to buy some snacks. I hurried out and when the door shut, I realized I was in serious trouble. You know, I was wearing my Pajama with sandals and what’s more, I didn’t bring my phone so I was so desperate then.

Just at this moment, my neighbor opened the door and found me standing embarrassed, he realized what happened right away and invited me to his house. He was super-kind that he lent me the phone so I could call my grandpa who had the spare keys to my house, but sadly, it would take him about an hour to help me out. So I had to wait, Knowing this, my neighbor did sth that really touched my emotions, apparently he was going out to do sth but he decided to stay with me and he kept chatting with me until my grandpa showed up.

I will never forget this waiting experience, because it helped me to know more about my neighbor and we became good friends.

Describe a film you want to watch again

An interesting conversation you had with others

An interesting conversation happened between my girlfriend and me after we watched the sci-fi movie ”Interstellar”, you know this movie is about a group of scientific explorers trying to save the earth using the wormhole theory to travel through time and the unusual stories they had during the traveling. Actually, after the movie, my girl friend said to me that it’s a great movie that creates lots of suspense then reach its climax that when the leading actor was sucked into the wormhole, everybody thought he was bound to die, but he miraculously survived and went into a 5-dimentional space where he became a sort of god who was able to manipulate whatever happened in the 3D world where our humans existed.

However, I reminded her that it’s not those classy physics theories but the theme that makes this movie a box office smash. You know, it literally displays both cold and warm sides of humanity. Besides, the director believes love will always find a way to reconnect two bonded hearts despite time and space.

I think our discussion is really interesting, cuz from which we get more new angles and perspectives and also it’s quite surprising to see how our ways of thinking differ which helps me to get a better picture of who she really is. Describe a situation that others didn’t tell you the whole truth

A situation that others didn’t tell me the whole truth is during Gaokao, it ‘s the college entrance examination in China and it’s a life and death thing to each and every high school student.

My grandma had been suffering from liver cancer and if memory serves, she got a serious stroke a week before I took the test. I was so worried that I thought she might not make it in a couple of days.

However, somewhere in all that chaos, my parents told me that everything about her was looking up and she was in a stable condition which really comforted me so I was able to pull myself together and finally made it through the Gaokao. But later, I knew they had lied to me about my Grandma’s death. She had already passed away the day before Gaokao. And they kept it a secret and acted like nothing happened. You know, I nearly blacked out upon the news, and then I went to my grandma’s memorial crying like a river.

I thought I would have lost my temper and blamed my parents, but I didn’t cuz I knew it’s what they’d gotta do in that situation, otherwise, my Gaokao performance would have been terribly affected if I had known the truth in the first place.

Short trip you’ve been on and wanna do it again

Sth you did with a group of ppl

Sth you do to stay healthy

A place near water that you enjoy visiting

A short trip I’ve been on and wanna do it again is a week ago, I took a short trip to the suburb of my hometown with a couple of my besties and we brought a tent as well as the BBQ equipment.

At 9:00, we arrived at the spot where it’s got a nice view cuz it had a lake and big lawn surrounded by leafy hills. Which really adds to the camping vibe.

The first thing we gotta do is to put up the tent which was a big hassle cuz it’s the first time we do this and nobody got a clue. Actually it took us half an hour to get it done, which was tricky yet full of fun.

Then it comes to the BBQ part where we also met lots of hiccups, you know, it’s windy that day, so it’s not easy to set the charcoal on fire. Besides, when the fire was made, we realized that we had put the meat and fruits in the freezing chamber that made everything like ice cubes, you can’t imagine how difficult it is to grill them, let alone we were all rookies in all this stuff. Everybody just wanna quit but the starvation kept us going.

Then it comes to the BBQ part which is our routine, I still remember there were lots of hiccups the first time we had BBQ, you know, it’s not easy to set the charcoal on fire. And everybody just wanted to quit but the starvation kept us going. But now we are seasoned in this BBQ stuff and can get lots of fun from it. Anyway, our efforts paid off and we had a nice meal while enjoying a wonderful winter afternoon. I really wanna do this again.

I feel it’s a healthy habit to have a BBQ with my friends on a regular basis, you know, it’ not simply because can we enjoy the palatable grilled food but more often because it’s a good way to socialize as well as a good opportunity to boost friend bonding. Besides, nowadays we spend too much time before the computer screen and doing some outdoor activities can get us closer to the nature and recharge our battery.

A project that you were once involved in ( for example, a project at work or a homework assignment at school or university)

sth you did which was a waste of time

It’s 2 months before the Gaokao which is the college entrance examination in China and I got this special assignment from my history teacher.

Which is to collect the names of the lanes connected to an ancient street and find out their respective meanings. You know, the street is somewhere near my school and it’s got a history that dates back to maybe 2000 years ago, it was paved with those tiles with moss on it, and the buildings on the streets were like weather-beaten guards that has slight cracks on the walls.

You know, there are dozens of lanes linked to the main street and each of them got a weird name that makes no sense, so our job is to find exactly what message this name carries by consulting the seniors still living in the there. If memory serves, one lane’s name literally means “Black Grandma’s lane”, at first I thought it meant there once lived a grandma who had a vicious heart, but it simply meant a dark skinned old lady was the lane’s original resident.

It cost me about one week to finish this project which I thought was a huge waste of time since everybody else in other class were doing the prep for Gaokao which is a life and death thing for us.

A handmade gift you gave to your friends or relatives

A time when you helped someone

A gift that I made by hand is one month ago, my girlfriend’s birthday was around the corner and I gave her my word that the gift would be special.

Since she was a pizza maniac, so I decided to give her a handmade pizza, it’s kind of challenging cuz I’ve never done any cooking stuff before, so I resorted to the Internet and googled “how to make a pie” and got lots of information, for instance, the ingredients should include oatmeal, eggs, milk powder, and corn, and so on.

But when it comes to the detailed procedures, it’s a great hassle and I still remember the most tricky part was that you need to keep an eye on the roasting time and watch the color of the pizza, when it turns brown, you should move it a little bit every 5 seconds, otherwise it sticks to the pan.

And I made it in the end, wrapped it up and took it to her. She was over the moon and can’t help but give it a bite right way then she said it was yummy with a weird grimace. But when I tasted it, it’s neither crispy nor palatable which is a complete failure.

Anyway, she ate it all, which really touched my emotions. Sometimes, I guess it’s the sincerity rather than the gift itself that truly counts.

A prize or award you received/ would like to win

I won the first prize of a Chinese Speaking contest. Back then I was still a freshman. You know, before college, I was such a shy boy who got bad people skills that sometimes I even didn’t have the guts to say Hi to a girl.

But things were different in college, cuz I’d decided to make a real change to my introverted personality. So the moment I saw a poster of a Chinese Speaking Contest, I forced myself to be part of it, thinking it’s a good chance to extend my own limits and transcend myself.

You know, It’s so nerve-racking that my palms got sweaty the second I thought about this coming contest. However, I found a way to calm my nerves and started to do the prep for the contest. I attended to every detail of the speech script. Besides, I had done numerous practices till the speech became a part of me, making sure for example, the gestures and eye-contacts are natural and flawless.

And my efforts paid off, cuz after I made it through the preliminary round, I sort of get into the rhythm and made it all the way till I won the first prize. When thinking back on this experience, I still feel so proud cuz I’m a person who’s willing to make sacrifices to get what needs to be done.

A piece of electronic equipment

Sth you really wanna buy in the future

A piece of electronic equipment that I wanna talk about is the Kindle, It’s an electronic book reader made by Amazon that aims to offer a comfy and healthy reading experience. I recently got a kindle from my girlfriend as a birthday present.

It got this shape of a medium-sized textbook and the color of black adds to its grace. It’s about 5 millimeters thin and it feels homey when you hold it in the palm. People say the thing that makes Kindle so different from other e-book readers is that it got this special screen technique which is called Electronic-ink. Actually, this E-ink makes the screen so similar to a paper that does little harm to our eyes.

The reason why Kindle wins my heart is cuz it literally changes my way of reading and makes me like reading even more, in other words, the Kindle really kindles my reading vibe, you know, compared with Kindle, it’s such a hassle to carry lots of heavy books around and also partly because when connected to the WiFi, I could use the Amazon Online book store to search for or purchase any kind of book I want, which I think is quite convenient. Besides, just like a book where you can make notes, the Kindle shares the same functions.

Good-looking person

An sportsperson who played well in the match

An athlete that I wanna talk about is David Beckham, everybody knows that he is one of the best mid-fielder, and he has won lots of trophies. I think he is the most handsome person I’ve ever known, let’s just say he got everything in the right place.

However, I believe what he has achieved in the pitch were overshadowed by his other commercial activities, for example, he is the spokesman for lots of high-end brands, and earned a lot. However, I remember once I watched a talk show about his retirement, when the host asked him how did he want to be remembered, as a footballer or others? And he responded quite frankly that at the end of the day he just wanted people to remember him as a professional footballer, cuz it really hurt when people thought he was only an eye-candy. People say: There isn’t a closed door in the world that beauty can’t open. The way I see it, there’s a good chance the physical beauty will bring people certain advantages, and I guess that’s the reason why cosmetic surgeries are so popular these years. But what lasts longer is the inside because it’s the personality that truly reflects who we are. And I think Beckham is a perfect example of a person who is pretty both inside and out.

A Childhood song you remember well

A childhood song that I remember well is “Little star”, which is a Chinese version of the famous nursery rhyme “Twinkle, twinkle, little star”. This song gives a vivid depiction of the blinking stars in the sky and it tells how they give the guidance to those travelers in the darkness.

Actually, I heard it from my grandma, you know, I lived with her since when I was born, cuz my parents were busy supporting the family and they were always on business trips. So my grandma is everything I got then in the world.

She said I was once a restless kid who couldn’t fall asleep easily at night, but she found a way to put me to sleep, which is to sing me the “little star”. Back then I thought it’s really annoying when I heard the song but then I got used to it and couldn’t have a tight sleep without it. And I grabbed it after hearing it thousands of times. You know, its melody and lyrics just get so deeply stuck in my memory.

Although my grandma has passed away years ago, the way she raised me up has left a gap in my memory that nothing warmer would fill. And the song has become a reminder of her.

A popular band or singer in your country

A famous foreign person you would like to meet

I wanna talk about Eminem. He is a rap music artist who has a large fan base across the world, you know, I know him from the song ”Mockingbird” which he wrote to his daughter and the lyrics helped me to get a better picture of how to be a good father, which really touched my emotions.

You know, I feel, compared with other famous rappers like 2-pac or doctor Dre, Eminem is the real master in this rap stuff, it’s mainly because he got this special talent of making rhymes to his rap, and also he is the person who is willing to make sacrifices to get what needs to be done.

For instance, I remember I watched “8 Mile” which is an autobiographical film about Eminem, in which he is always carrying a pen and paper so that it’s easier to jot sth down whenever the inspiration strikes.

I guess the thing that makes me so admire him is that, there’s always sth deep and powerful in his rap. Well, for most rappers, rap is all about venting rage and spitting meaningless dirty words, but for Eminem, he has a way to expose both the warm and cold sides of humanity through rapping cuz he always stays true to himself and what he does matches what he raps.

A time when you had to wait in a traffic jam

Well, last Friday I got caught in a terrible traffic jam. You know, on that day I was invited to have an evening dinner with my besty and I set out during the peak hour when everyone was rushing home, and the bus I was in suddenly stopped, I was wondering if there’s a car crash or sth bad ahead of us. Anyway, what’s happening in front of my eyes was cars kept piling up, and the whole street was blocked. Actually, I was so desperate then after I glanced the watch, it was only 20 minutes before our agreed time. And my bus was like moving an inch every 10 minutes.

I know I was bound to be late so I had to make a phone call to let him know my situation, yet only to find he was also trapped in a traffic jam. You know, waiting in a traffic jam was so frustrating and energy-consuming and we had no idea about when exactly we were able to grab the supper tonight.

Traffic jams are pretty normal thing in China. I feel it’s not simply because there are too many vehicles in China, but more often the drivers in china are usually impatient and would do everything they can to save time which leads to chaos on the roads.

An exciting sport you know

Sth you wanna learn but can’t learn right now

An exciting sport that I wanna talk about is surfing. You know, compared with those extreme sports, most of sports we do everyday are nothing special. I’m a person who enjoys challenges and always have a soft spot for surfing. Though I’ve never done it before, I’m always riveted by someone surfing on TV.

You know, I got this deeply rooted dream of grasping surfing skills, and I often picture myself riding waves on the raging sea with seagulls screaming above my head and pretty girls’ eyes fixing on me. I feel if I wanna be a man in the spotlight, learning surfing is the right vehicle to get me there.

Actually, I even googled sth about surfing which requires lots of skills, for example, the first step is to overcome the fear when facing the unpredictable sea. Besides, having excellent coordination skills as well as a good body flexibility are also what it takes to make a real surfer.

However, I can’t learn surfing right now, cuz short-term speaking I gotta pull my focus on my English studies and pass the IELTS. Anyway, there’s a good chance I’ll learn this type of extreme sport during my time off in the future, cuz I always believe our life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the things we do to take our breath away.

Describe an unusual building you know

A historical city you’ve been to

An usual building I wanna talk about is called “Weiwu”, literally it means the round house, just as its name suggests, it got the shape of a big round cake with a huge patio inside, a normal weiwu has the height of 20 meters and a diameter of 50 meters.

Last year I traveled to an ancient village in Fujian Province with my family and the first time I saw the “Weiwu”, it was like ”Oh my god, what is this round thing for?” I’d never met such a strange building before, and my curiosity just pushed me to ask the locals about this weird thing.

You know, they told me the reason why this building had this round shape is cuz it aimed to represent “the Tachi picture” which was a famous picture that symbolized the traditional Chinese yin-yang philosophy. Besides it appealed to the Fengshui theory cuz our ancestors believed the shape of roundness or a circle stood for completeness and harmony.

I felt it’s such a genius to build this thing cuz when I stepped inside the

building, it seemed everything was in a delicate balance. You know, though people living in isolated rooms, yet united as a whole because of the circle structures and it really gave a boost to the family vibe when I saw people from different generations helped each other out.

A meal you invited others to your home or restaurant

Well, I would like to talk about a very special meal I treated my family members, which was actually a family dinner in the patio of my house. To be more specific, it was a grill party, or you can say a family reunion as well. We hardly ever had done grill before, and it was my idea to do it.

It was not a special occasion actually, just a regular weekend thing. But for me, I was super-excited. It’s not simply because we had a whole family coming, like my cousins, uncles and aunts, whom I hadn’t really seen for a long while but more often because I am foodie who got a chance to have my favorite grilled food. You know, the reason why I felt it was special is cuz we had an awesome time when we hung out in the open air, bathing in the mellow sunlight, grilling food and having a wonderful Barbeque. Besides, we just laughed and talked while catching up with each other. Also, we did a lot of fun stuff as well, for example, we played board games, like poker cards and mahjong, which was sort of our family tradition. I gotta say that’s the most relaxing meal I’ve ever had in my whole life. How I wish I could do that again!

An occasion you received a good service from a company or shop

A good service that I received was last week I went to a special cinema with my girlfriend, it’s a cinema where we can watch the film in a private room. Since it’s the first time we were there, a male assistant was eager to help.

The first thing was to choose a film, he gave us this Ipad thing which is actually an electronic contents of films. And he taught us how to select the film. Anyway, we felt kind of confused cuz there were numerous films out there, it took us lots of time to make a final decision.

But he didn’t show any impatience and even gave us some recommendations. At last we chose a horror film, and he led us to the room. Before he played the film he kindly reminded us that if we felt the film was boring during the beginning 15 minutes, we were able to choose another one, which was really considerate.

He even helped to adjust the seats to make them homey for us. You know we purchased the film ticket from a group-buying App which said this cinema was rated five stars. Now I know why, it’s mainly because the service here was of high quality, besides the equipment was also classy, for example, the room got a eye-friendly screen and the stereo was an ear-candy.
