At the same time, if we have lots of free time, we can do some activities after school. We usually have activities from 4:50 to 5:50 in the afternoon . You can play basket ball or football. We also have some interest groups in school, such as drawing, singing and dancing. We can go to the English corner on Monday afternoon. Courage(勇气) is the ability to be brave in different kinds of situations（情形）in our life. Here and there, now and then, everyone needs courage to do something well. Courage may make you confident(自信) of your success. If you have courage, you won’t show fear in face of anything difficult or dangerous. With courage, you may still smile even if you are badly ill and know you are at the end of your life. How can we build up our courage?

For hundreds of years, scientists have been trying to answer what things have an effect on people’s emotions. How you feel is controlled by many things. Your emotions can be affected by your personality, the actions of others and the events around you. Perhaps you don’t know your emotions can be influenced by the weather as well.

People often say they feel good when the sun is shining and sad when it is cloudy. In fact, sunlight makes us feel good. When sunlight hits our skins, our bodies produce a vitamin. Vitamins are chemical substances ( 化学物质) which we all need to stay healthy.

Sunlight helps our bodies produce vitamin D. Vitamin D helps our bodies make a special chemical substance. This special chemical substance affects our brains(大脑) and makes us feel happy. For

example, there are long, dark winters of little sunlight in Sweden and Norway, so many people in these countries often feel sad. Without much sunlight, their bodies produce less vitamin D.
