Nobody likes to be watched while they’re reading a book，but we' re willing to make an exception(例外）if it means getting to visit this very splendid new library in China，because the building structure has a big object in the middle that looks just like a big eye.
Located in the Binhai Cultural District in Tianjin，the five-storey library, which was designed by a Dutch design firm together with the Tianjin Urban Planning and Design Institute, has since been called “The Eye of Binhai”. It covers 34,000 square metres and can hold up to 1. 2 million books.
But there’s a catch：its swirling(旋转的）bookshelves don’t actually hold thousands of books. Look closer and you711 notice that the shelves are printed with digital book images. About 200,000 real books are available in other rooms of the library, but the main room is mainly designed for socialization and reading.
Taking just three years to complete, the library includes a reading area on the ground floor, lounge areas(公共休息区）in the middle sections and offices，meeting spaces, and computer/audio rooms at the top. Although we’re not sure how much studying we’d get done, we’d be far too busy appreciating the awesome architecture!
