Havasu Falls (Arizona)

Chutes and Ladders (Maui)

To get to this secret swimming hole, you’ll have to take a rope 40 feet down the face of a cliff, and then climb down about 8 feet of lava rock to the pool. Once there, however, you’ll be glad you made the journey. The swimming hole is on the edge of the ocean — a natural pool, you could say — with a depth that invites you to jump in without crowds of people around to watch.

Selena Gomez’s mother, Mandy Teefey, has opened up about her daughter’s kidney transplant in a touching Instagram post.

Over the weekend, Teefey shared a photo of Gomez with best friend and kidney donor Francia Raisa in the hospital. It was the same photo that the ＂Fetish＂singer shared last week when she first revealed the news of her kidney transplant.

＂This picture is one of the most impressive images that will live with me forever,＂ Teefey wrote. ＂For all those moments of not knowing if we were going up or going down, I can always come back to this picture and know we can always make it back up.＂

＂As a mother I was he lpless, scared and all I could do was pray for both of them, Francia’s beautiful family,＂ she continued, before joking, ＂I am pretty sure I am banned from that hospital. Mama Bear was in

high gear.＂

She then made sure to thank everyone for their support.

＂We survived from all the love, prayers and God,＂ she wrote.

Teefey’s post comes just a few days after Gomez went public with the news. In her own post on Instagram, Gomez thanked her ＂incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me before and after surgery.＂

＂There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa,＂ she added. ＂She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrificed by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much, Sister.＂

Raisa also opened up about the surgery, posting the same photo on Instagram and writing, ＂I am beyond grateful that God would trust me with something that not only saved a life, but changed mine in the process.＂ Both Gomez and Raisa have said that there is more to their story, which they plan on sharing soon. 24. Four speed cameras costing thousands of pounds have been put up along a busy beach to reduce the number of fights between cyclists and pedestrians.

The signs set the speed limit of 10mph to warn offending riders and delivery drivers if they are going too fast. The four digital devices cost ￡3,000 each and have been placed along the seven-mile road by the sea at Bournemouth, Dorset.

Three of them have been paid for by the local council while the fourth has been funded by beach hut owners fed up with cyclists "flying" past their cabins.

Cyclists have accused the council of being "anti-cycling" and of "hurting" those on two wheels, but other beachgoers say speeding bikes have become a danger. Last year a 72-year-old grandmother was left badly hurt by a cyclist doing 20mph. Two months later a boy of five was left with cuts and bruises after being hit by a cyclist going too fast.

The new signs are on top of existing signage informing cyclists of the 10mph speed limit and the fact

pedestrians have the right of way. Cycling is also completely banned on the path beside the sea from 10 am to 6

pm during July and August, when Bournemouth beach can attract 100,000 visitors a day.

Nicole Nagel, who founded Bournemouth Cycling Without Age, told MailOnline : "The council is total anti-cycling. I’m from Germany where a lot is done for cyclist but I’ve lived here 20 years and it’s very dangerous for cyclists. They could have used that money to build a proper cycle lane(车道) — especially for children, to cross the road safely on bikes, something to make it more appealing to use bikes, rather than putting speed cameras up."

Thanks to its cold environment, Antarctica remained largely untouched by humans for thousands of years. However, since the 1990s, the last true wilderness on the planet is becoming an increasingly popular destination for adventure-seeking tourists. Now, a new study states that the visitors may be leaving behind harmful bacteria(细菌) Researchers believed that the Antarctic creatures were not affected by the danger due to the continent’s

extreme weather. However, microbiologist Marta Cerdà-Cuéllar was not convinced this was true. She and

some colleagues decided to examine samples from Antarctic birds for evidence of human bacteria. To ensure the

waste was not polluted, the scientists had to collect it from the birds themselves. This was no easy task. If they missed catching a skua at first go, the bird never came close again.

It took the scientists four years, from 2008—2011, to collect fecal(粪便) samples of 666 adult birds from 24 local species. The results of their study revealed the presence of several types of human bacteria in the bird waste. ＂While we should do as much as possible to reduce transmission, it’s hard to believe that we will stop tourism and science at these sites, and so it is hard to believe that humans won’t continue to transmit pathogens(病原体).＂ said Kyle Elliott.

Experts, including González-Solís, believe the only way to prevent the mass destruction of the birds, is to introduce stricter regulations or, at least, obey the ones already in place. I could only admire the love and courage of that butterfly in his concern for his mate. He had taken it up on himself to attack me for his mate’s sake, even though she was clearly dying and I was so large. He did so just to give her those extra few precious moments of life. His courage in attacking something thousands of times larger and heavier than himself just for his ma te’s safety seemed admirable. I couldn’t do anything other than reward him by walking on the more difficult side of the pool. He had truly earned those moments to be with her, undisturbed.
