第21卷第68期2007年5月 广东青年干部学院学报 JournalofGuangdongYounhLeadersCollege V01.2lNo.68 Mav2007 浅谈外贸函电的语言特点及几个重要原则 王媛媛 (广东青年干部学院,广州510507) 摘要:商务书信是商务活动中最重要的书面交往方式之一。注意商务英语书信写作中的语言特点及一些重要原则。在以信传情迭意中,双方应努力塑造良好形象,争取并保住新老客户,以求更好的经济效益。 关键词:外贸函电语言特点写作原则 中图分类号:F740.4H152.3文献标识码:A文章编号:1009-5446(2007)02—0093—03 随着国际间的商务活动往来更加频繁,商务交际进入了一个全新的发展阶段,越来越呈现出国际化趋势。在国际商务沟通中,说话者能否掌握沟通的语言艺术,是能否顺利实现预期目标的关键。因此,在商务写作中,我们要注意以下几点: 语言特点 (一)语言简洁明确 众所周知,写好外贸函电必须遵循4项原则,即4个C:简洁(conciseness)、明确(clarity)、准确(cor-rectness)、得体(courtesy)。一封简洁明确的外贸信件是如何体现呢?我们从以下几点分析: 1.避免用多余的词语和冗长难懂的句子 WewishtoacknowledgereceiptofyourletterofOct14。如果改为:WeappreciateyourletterofOct14.就更加简洁易懂。 2.用短语、及非谓语动词等形式代替从句 Becausethearticleisverypopular,itwillenjoyfastsalesatyourend.用现在分词结构来代替原因状语从句,即Beingverypopular,thearticlewillenjoyfastsalesatyourend. 3.使用缩略语 在长期的发展中,外贸行业逐步形成了许多既定的专业缩略语,准确使用缩略语可减少信件的篇幅,节省读者的阅读时间。 A.国际经济贸易组织缩略语。如:WTO(世界贸易组织),EEC(欧洲经济共同体),等等。 B.常用外贸英语缩略语。如:A/S(见票后或见票),F.0.B(离岸价),a/c(帐户)等等。 C.常用信函缩略语。如:Re(regard关于),Enc(随附)等等。 4.概括总结 WithreferencetoyourrequestforanextensiononyournotunderdateofApril9,wehavediscussedthismatterwidelyanddrewaconclusion.Wearenowpleasedtotellyouthatwewillbewillingtoallowyouadditionaltendaystomakepaymentonyournote.此段文共有50个词,为使文字更紧凑,又不影响文中的意思,可概括为:Wearepleasedtoallowyouaddi.tional10daystopayyournotedatedApril9. 探讨外贸英语函电的语言特点 来源:英语毕业论文 https://www.wendangku.net/doc/058599813.html,/ 一、语域理论(register theory)的主要内容韩礼德等语言学家将决定语言特征的情景因素归纳为三种:即语场(field)、语旨(tenor)、语式(mode),这三者称为语域变量。语场即“话语范围”,指语篇的中心内容。语旨即“话语基调”,有两层含义:包括语言使用者社会地位、相互之间的关系及使用语言的意图。语式即“话语方式”指语篇的语言裁体形式,可分为正式语体和非正式语体、书面语体和口语语体等;。 这三个变量同时兼顾语言内部的纯语言意义与语言的社会意义与功能,语域变量中的任何一项发生改变都会导致意义的变化,引起语言的变异,由此而产生不同的语言变体。发展语域理论的目的是力图发现和利用这些变化的一般规律,进而了解怎样的情景因素决定怎样的语言特征。 二、外贸英语函电的语域分析语域理论将具体的语言变体放在具体的情景语境中进行研究。外贸英语函电是不同地域的人们从事国际贸易活动为获取利益这种特定社会环境下的产物,体现出不同其他行业的语言特点,是一种功能性语言变体,所以其对语言的使用要求也存在差异。它对于用词,句法,篇章结构有不同的要求,强调完整、逻辑、清晰、礼貌、语言的准确客观性及语篇的纲要性。 (一)语场语场指实际发生的事,语言发生的话题、讲说者及其他参与者所参加的整个活动。外贸英语函电的语场指国际贸易进出口业务中的整个流程。如:建立业务关系,询盘,发盘,还盘,接受,签订合同,履行合同,业务善后。这些具体的活动决定外贸英语函电所使用的语言必须围绕这些活动主题
