其实4月22号就接到了上外高翻院的电话通知说我被录取了，到现在10天过去了，总算是清醒下来了。忽然间发现自己不知不觉在bbw转悠了1年多，从大家的诸多贡献中也学到了不少，所以想借此机会谈一谈今年的考试情况，也算是尽自己的绵薄之力对各位的回报。
我想从3个方面谈谈今年的入学考试，即报考、笔试、面试。
1. 报考
今年报考上外高翻会口专业的人数将近300。从地域上看，真是五湖四海的都有，虽说大
陆考生占了绝大多数，但一些港胞台胞还有国际友人也把目光投向了这个专业。从报考人
员的背景来看，也称得上是“丰富多彩”，有学生（本科生和研究生都有）、老师、记者、
专职翻译等等。并且据官方消息称不少人都纷纷放弃了优厚的工作待遇来报考，这份坚定
实在是值得钦佩。另外，有一点需要澄清，社会上传闻报考上外高翻会口专业需要专业八
级或上海高口证，这纯属空XXXXX来风。确切的报考条件是，只需要有学士学位就能报考。那些正在读本科最后一年的同学也可以报考。
2. 笔试
今年的笔试安排在3月27号，笔试分为3部分：综合能力、视译、笔译。综合能力8：
30-11：00，视译12：00-13：30，笔译14：00-16：30。大家可以看到，笔试要考一天，对体力也是个挑战。
下面说说每个部分的具体内容。
综合能力第一部分考查外语写作（中国考生写英文，外国考生写中文），2个题目选1个，一个是谈是否应该禁止大规模杀伤性武器，另一个是谈 empowerment of women。字数不少于850词。第二部分考查名词解释，这些大多都是名人、缩略语、国家首都。我记得的有IPR、PLO、MDGs、IAEA、 IATA、capital of Kenya、capital of Iran、capital of Australia、Hugo Chavez、Tsang Yam Kuen。这部分大约有40条需要解释的名词。最后
一部分是完形填空，这不是大家通常所做的选择题，而是自己根据上下文填，每个空所填
的词数不限制。这次考的是一篇科菲安南关于打击恐怖主义的讲话，英文的。
视译看起来持续1个半小时，但实际上是分批次进行测试的。每批学生进入语音室后会被
发给一盘磁带，待试音结束后，考生会被发给一篇文章（中文的），考生会有5分钟来通
读文章，文章不算太长，大概300字。然后就开始正式录音，大家要把文章用英文口头翻译出来，并且有时间限制。这次的文章是关于对经济学家的炒作现象，里面基本没什么专
业术语，还是挺照顾考生的。但是时间给得太短，后来才知道只给了3分钟多一点。好多
考生都反映没有译完，有的甚至还差3、4 句。可是从最后的结果来看，主要还是强调语音、语调、准确性和流畅性。
下午就是考笔译了，2个半小时其实还挺紧张，确实有人没有做完的。这次的笔译部分一
共2篇文章，一篇英文译成汉语，一篇汉语译成英文。每篇的长度是A4的纸一面再多几行，小四号字。英文那篇主题是Democracy stirs in the Middle East，是国外杂志Economist3月份的一篇。怎么说呢，这篇文章的句子理解也不算太难，就是生词有一些，并且还都是关键词。但是我个人感觉先读一遍了解个大意会缓解一下心理压力，并且有助
于把握基调。汉语那篇是温XXXXX出席东盟地震和海啸灾后问题领导人特别会议的讲话，其实在考试之前bbw 论坛就已经提供了中英双语的版本，请看

所以我要感谢本论坛。这篇讲话整体都不算很难，就是翻的时候要注意一些表达的准确性，如救灾、减免债务。需要提醒大家的是，时间分配一定要合理，争取在有限时间内做完。
3. 面试
大约在笔试结束2、3天过后就接到了高翻电话，确定了面试时间，所有27名入围面试的考生分别被安排在4月15、16两天（有人会问那不是会先考的会透露试题吗，其实大家
考的内容都不一样，但难度和形式是一样的，所以很公平）。如果没有接到电话通知，那
就说明不幸落榜了，就要等书面的成绩单，看看问题处在哪里，好对下一年针对改进。面
试是考生一个一个的进到一间小会议室和考官面对面，今年的考官与去年稍稍不同，一共
5个：欧盟翻译司老大爷（我估计刚入花甲之年），戴教授，杜教授，上海外办翻译jj，
高翻的柴明院长。换句话说，就是5个考官每次考1个学生。面试的形式是做复述、问答
和即兴演讲，大体分为4个部分：英文讲话用中文复述，中文讲话用英文复述，英文讲话
用英文复述，英文即兴演讲。复述的那3个部分都是考官现场给你讲述一篇文章，然后你
再做复述，文章的长度基本上在3到5分钟，考生在听的时候不能做任何笔记只能用大脑记，所以一定要专注。做复述的时候要镇定，语速要均匀，声音不能弱。每篇复述完毕后，考官都会问你问题，都是关于文章内容的。这些文章都有一个特点，就是层次清楚，逻辑
清晰。做复述的时候要把大意、结构、逻辑放在第一位。现在我都有了个后遗症，一听到
层次清楚的文章就有做复述的冲动。3个部分的复述完毕后，其中1个考官会拿3个题目，考生随便选一个准备1分钟就开始讲。总的说来，这次面试复述的文章和即兴演讲题目都
是大家了解的话题。面试过后一个星期接到了高翻的电话录取通知，没有接到通知的考生
会在迟些时候接到考官的电话给分析面试失利的原因。我认为上外高翻会口的工作真的做
的十分周到和人性化。
以上就是这次考试的一些情况，就我自己的准备过程来说，我在准备面试方面也是借鉴了
去年考入的lwcy姐姐的经验，训练了一些discovery的碟子，还有就是网上一些关于讲话
的听力材料也还挺好。对于笔试，我还有时看看Economist、Latimes这样的权威网站，熟悉一下发生的一些大事和英文表达。我个人觉得新浪的国际专题也值得一看，虽然是中文，但很全面，看的效率也挺高。自己平时也试着翻译一些文章，有条件还可以和权威的译文
参照一下，以提高笔译能力。准备那些名词解释的时候我看了看缩略语归纳。写作平时也
练练笔，基本上都写议论文，写的时候要注意文章的主题鲜明、结构清楚、逻辑清晰。对
于视译，找些中文段子练，训练自己的反应能力和表达的流畅性。对于即兴演讲，我也是
多练，但也一定要注意主题、结构、逻辑，以及说话的语速均匀、吐字清晰。
这些就是这次考试以及我的准备的概况，回顾这1年来，自己真是经历了从去年的面试淘
汰之悲，到今年面试过后之忧，再到接到电话通知之喜。虽然自己被录取，但这还只是第
一步，1年后有中期考核，通过不了还要淘汰，通过了还有2年毕业考核，过不了还是要
被淘汰，所以自己进去了还要更加努力。正如中山先生名言：“革命尚未成功，同志仍须
努力。”

尊敬的老师，您好！我叫张鑫，是上海外国语大学英语专业大四的一名学生。首
先感谢您耐心阅读这份个人陈述，满满的一页纸既是让您了解我的渠道，也是自己深
入内心的一次情感之旅和人生回顾。
21年的岁月里，从北方一座不知名的小城到繁华的大都市上海，从教室里的小小
讲台到CCTV的绚丽舞台，从采访身边的老师同学到与美国总统奥巴马对话，我的人
生实现了一次次跨越，而为我打开这一扇扇通往广阔世界大门的，正是我所挚爱的语言，以及十年如一日的不懈努力。
妈妈用她那标准普通话及悦耳动听的声音讲述的一个个故事伴随着我的童年，也
无形中培养了我对语言的敏感。从中学开始，我的语言天赋得到了施展和进一步开发。首先在母语汉语方面，通过数次演讲比赛，朗诵比赛和主持学校文艺晚会等，我的语
言表达能力得到了巨大提高。2001年，在全国中学生爱国主题演讲中我取得了河北省
第二名，全国三等奖的成绩，在此过程得到多位专业播音员和主持人的指导。至于英语，更是从一开始接触便深深爱上，学习过程也是如鱼得水，取得很多成绩。比如曾
四次获中学生英语能力竞赛全国一等奖。因此高考填志愿时我毫不犹豫填报了我国知
名外语学府—上海外国语大学，填报了我最喜爱的英语专业。
事实证明我的选择是正确的。上外这一更高的平台为我提供了更多展现自己，挑
战自己，超越自己的机会。2008年，我参加中央电视台举办的“希望之星”英语风采大赛，在学院领导和老师的指导下，取得上海赛区第二名，和全国总决赛“十强”及“最佳风采奖”的成绩。同一年，在泛长三角地区模拟联合国比赛中获得“最佳贡献奖”和“最佳团队奖”。而且，我在上外广播电视台担任《魅力人物》节目主持人，
两年时间里采访过多位学校风云人物和优秀教师，锻炼了与人交流的能力。最让我激
动的是2009年11月16日，我代表学校参加奥巴马与中国青年对话活动，并作为网
民代表向奥巴马提问。这些成绩既是对我努力的肯定，也激励我更加努力，向着更高
的目标迈进。
和口译结缘始于大二上学期备战高级口译考试。以前只知道口译很有挑战性，代
表着至高的语言实力。但通过亲身接触，我发现自己越来越迷恋口译，尤其是自从大
三时学校开设了口译课，我更确定了自己对口译的爱：每周五的口译课都是我在期盼
中迎接，在不舍中离开；我喜欢那种在高压下紧张心跳的感觉，它让我感到一种生命
的活力；我喜欢让更多的人听到自己的声音；而且口译让我对国际国内时政感兴趣，
通过对外刊外报的阅读和翻译世界领导人的讲话培养了深深的民族使命感和国际认知。如果说以前我学英语是出于单纯的热爱，那么现在则有了更深一层意义，那就是用自
己所学为中国同世界的交流做出贡献。尤其是当我看到西方媒体对我国西藏事件偏颇
的报道，对我国民主和人权诋毁时，当我听到达赖喇嘛的声音在多个国家大受追捧以
至于湮没中国领导人的声音时，当我满怀希望期待哥本哈根会议取得成效却等来一纸
空文时，我深切意识到这个世界多么得缺乏沟通！渐渐地，我在心中确立了自己一生
奋斗的理想：为人与人的沟通，为中国与世界的沟通，为世界各国的沟通做出贡献。
我深知目前自己的知识无论深度还是广度都还远远不够，因此我渴望进入更高一级的
学府深造，渴望在更高的舞台锻炼自己。

Personal Statement
Distinguished professor, my name is Emma Chang. I’m a senior student of English at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). First, I’d like to say thank you for taking time to read this personal statement of mine.
From a small town in Northern China to this fascinating metropolitan city of Shanghai, from a small podium in the classroom to the colorful stage at CCTV, from interviewing classmates and teachers around me to posing a question to US President Barack Obama, I have made breakthroughs once and once again. The key to these doors that open to the outside world is my love for languages and the unremitting efforts I’ve made to improve myself over the years.
Mom’s bedtime stories awakened my language potential that came into full display after I went to study in middle school. Through countless speech contests and hosting experiences, I improved my Chinese competency. In 2001, I won the third prize in a national speech contest held in Beijing and received guidance from some renowned TV anchors. As for English, it was a story of “love at first sight”—the first time I heard somebody speak English, I fell in love with it and it has been my most faithful companion ever since. That is why I came to SISU and chose English as my major. I’m thankful that SISU has provided me many opportunities to challenge myself and transcend my previous self.
In the 2008 “Star of Outlook” English Talent Competition held by CCTV 10, I made all my way through to the national final and ranked 8th with an additional award on personal charisma. In the Pan-Yangtze River Delta MUN Competition the same year, I won a “Most Contribution Award” and a “Best Delegate Award”. The most exciting moment came when I met with President Obama and asked him a question during his official visit to China in November last year. All these achievements, big or small, have made me feel truly rewarded for my hard work and inspired me to aim higher.
My story with interpreting began just two and a half years ago when I was preparing for the Advanced Interpreting Test. I was fascinated by this exciting and challenging activity immediately and my love for it was confirmed through interpreting lessons at school. All the excitement, the intensity, and the butterflies in my stomach made me feel so much alive and my voice through the microphone that resonated in the classroom gave me a wonderful sensation. Most important, interpreting practices aroused my interest in domestic and international affairs thus
instilling in me a stronger sense of national identity as well as internationalism. Now, studying English which in the past simply meant doing something that I enjoy carries a new meaning with itself—a longing to facilitate communication around the world
through my language abilities. When I read those highly prejudiced and retorted news reports about China’s human rights and religious issues on CNN, Economist, Newsweek, etc; when I found that Dalai Lama’s preaching received more welcome than Chinese leaders overseas; when I was dismayed by the damp squib that came out of Copenhagen climate conference, I realized how desperately lacking in communication the world is and my desire to address this problem is stronger than ever. Fully aware that my knowledge hitherto is far from enough, I am eager to continue studying.
Undoubtedly, your program is one that can provide me the most professional training and precious opportunities, thus making my dreams more attainable. I know the road ahead will be long and the climb will be steep, but I will never waver nor will I retire, for I know that this is what I have committed myself to—both for love and for responsibility.

As a self-motivated student, I have spared no pains to equip myself with specialist knowledge and practical skills. Thanks to my unremitting efforts, I have built a firm academic grounding about jurisprudence, criminal law, civil law, commercial law and etc, and scored an exemplary average score of 89.5%, ranking me the first in the whole grade comprised of about 100 students. Moreover, by frequently attending the moot courts and drafting a range of legal documents, I significantly harnessed my verbal and writing skills, and gradually sharpened my insight into China’s judicial system. Among those examples I could cite would be my experience in carrying out the national-level undergraduate innovation training programme titled Fire Protection Regulations of Villages of the Miao Nationality-a Case Study about Xijiang Village Leishan County Guizhou Province. Starting from conducting investigations and interviewing residents in that village, our team collected plentiful data, and studied the pros and cons of current regulations. After consulting professional literatures and seeking advices from scholars& experts, we proposed our suggestions about improving current regulations to better protect villagers’lives and properties. In recognition of the practical value of our research, our project was awarded as the Excellent Project, and our research paper will soon be published in the 2nd Issue of Journal of Original Ecological National Culture.
