Enjoy American TV dramas

Nowadays, there is no denying that American TV dramas are becoming more and more poular among Chinese teenagers.Watching American TV dramas has been an irresistible trend for the youth especially senior high school students.

However,this phenomenon triggers a fierce debate in the society about whether American dramas are beneficial to the teenagers.Some hold the idea that watching dramas can enhance their language sense,but others argue that watching dramas is bad for teenagers’study and lives instead of improving their English skills.

As far as I am concerned,I support the former.In my opinion, American TV dramas obviously have a positive effect on our English.The characters in the darmas speak native English and use terms and expressions that are more colloquial,which makes us understand more about English and learn to speak authentic English but not Chinese English.The dialogue in the dramas could make our spoken language more idiomatic and enhance our language sense.That is what we could never learn in class. Besides,most of American dramas convey positive energy to the society.For example,The Arrow show us that a hero praises virtue and punishes vice to save his city.We can learn justice

and bravery from it,which makes a great contribution to shaping our values and outlook on life.That is the extra bonus of watching American TV dramas.

Whereas,to be honest,American TV dramas are also disadvantageous to us.Some of them may contain some adult content such as violence,eromicism and so on.That is the reason why people think American TV dramas are bad for children,but I think what we focus on are the language and the positive energy the dramas convey rather than other things.After all,nothing is perfect,just as the saying goes,〝There is no garden without weed.〞
