第二节:完型填空(共20小题;每小题1分,满分20分)

阅读下面短文,掌握其大意,然后从21—40题所给的四个选项(A、B、C、D)中,选出最佳

选项,并在答题纸上将该选项标号涂黑。

Three packs of cigarettes were lying there on the pavement. I went down from Shubentsov’s office doorstep, picked them up and pocketed them. Later, in a bar, when I opened the first pack, I found – to my 21 – the twenty cigarettes were there.

I’m still at the bar, teleph one in one 22 and the cigarettes in the other. I’m dialing Shubentsov, who told me to call the moment I felt the urge to 23 . I feel it, feel it even 24 than I felt Shubentsov’s healing(恢复) energy. That’s saying something, since Shubentsov is known around the world for 25 smokers of their nasty habit, using a 26 method. He sent his healing energy from his fingertips, he tells me –something he picked up from another man in Russia. “I help you for free,” he told me in his muddy accent. “Just call me 27 .”

I went to see Shubentsov. I think it’s time to 28 because I’m getting old, and I can’t keep doing this to myself. But here’s the real problem. I should quit, but like a lot of you 29 with the same habit, I really don’t want to.

Smoking has been very good to me. Cigarettes have never let me down, never abandoned me on 30 , desperate nights. Smoking 31 my head, helps me 32 . Smoking has started conversations, driven away annoying people. Smoking helps me celebrate victories, get over losses, comfort the comfortless. It also chases away the mosquitoes.

I will 33 . Soon. My body and my mind are demanding that , daily.

I claim to smoke for pleasure, but I realise that slowly I’m losing control of this close, special friend. I 34 that. I realise it’s not just a “habit”. I’m 35 .

So here I am, attempting to 36 again, at Shubentsov’s place. I’ve tried all the other quitting techniques 37 . Anytime the urge to smoke 38 , he said, just call him immediately and he’ll help. The funny thing is, I realise that I’m not phoning him to stop me from lighting up. I’m phoning him so I can. If I call, I’ll have done my part. Then I can smoke this cigarette. Besides, I know that at 9.30 on a Friday night, I’ll get the answering machine. I do. “The office is open from ten to four. Call me back then. This machine does not take messages.”

I p ut the phone down and I can honestly say I’m 39 . You see, it’s not Shubentsov’s fault or anyone else’s fault that I’m still 40 . It’s mine.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to smoke this cigarette. Whether I’ll really enjoy it, though, is another story.

第二部分:阅读理解(第一节20小题,第二节5小题;每小题2分,满分50分)

第一节:阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C、D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题纸上将该选项标号涂黑。

A

Computer games have been criticised for quite some time over a whole range of issues. Some people say they are overly violent and encourage violent behaviour particularly in children. Others say that they make children unsociable and are bad for their eyes. Some have even attributed falling standards of literacy and a lack of interest in reading on them. Now, however, it seems that computer games have also become a feminist(女权主义者) issue.

Game manufacturers have, for some time, been looking to increase the number of female game players. The vast majority of computer games still sell to a mainly male market. Perhaps this is because the violent nature of many of the games appeals more to males or perhaps because many of the main characters in the games are male. Manufacturers' attempts to produce

more female characters increase their share of the female gaming market which has met with serious criticism from many women's groups.

While heroines(女英雄) such as Lara Croft of the Tomb Raider game are seen as providing positive role models of strong women, many believe that the character's unrealistic Barbies are subconsciously setting unattainable standards in the minds of young women. Perhaps a stronger criticism is that although many games now include female characters, their role is often secondary and they support the main, male, action characters within the games. Of course the nature of many of the games remains violent and destructive and this in itself could well continue to put off female gamers.

There are now, however, a number of web sites springing up on the World Wide Web to help women deal with this issue. Sites such as Game Girlz, Women Gamers and Game Gal offer game reviews, articles, discussion forums and even employment opportunities for women interested in becoming part of the rapidly expanding games industry. The games are reviewed by women from a very female perspective. Some rate the games from one to ten across a range of criteria which include the appearance of the female characters, the degree of intelligence attributed to them in the game and even the marketing attitude adopted by the company. The sites are obviously looking for games that move away from the very male dominated and violent nature of the majority of computer games. Many of them review games that are more constructive and developmental. Although the common fantasy themes of knights(骑士), witches and goblins(妖精)still exist within these games, the aims are often very different. Instead of destroying opposing armies, the aim of the game can be to make peace with them.

With this increased degree of awareness and involvement from women in the games industry many positive changes could be made that could encourage more women and young girls to become enthusiastic about technology. Perhaps we may even find more male gamers moving away from the traditional violent and destructive games towards the more positive values promoted by these more feminine role models, after all Tomb Raider is still one of the most popular computer games on the market, but perhaps that's too much to ask.

It can be as simple or as complex as you want. Anybody who enjoys the cinema knows that when the final credits roll they include everyone who has contributed —Director, Performers, Best Boy, Make Up, etc.

It usually takes over a hundred people working a year to make a feature film, ten people to produce a pop promo (流行电视节目预告片) and around twenty to film a documentary. The reason so many people are involved is because films need to be made quickly and on budget.

Many famous directors started by making films completely on their own — Orson Welles, George Lucas, Robert Rodrigues. You may not have the special effects and big budgets of Hollywood but you do have time on your side. Use it to experiment and make a few mistakes. It’s the way to learn. And that’s where the fun begins. Go on; make a film.

Now, let’s talk about ho w to prepare for the shoot (拍摄).

If you’re making the film with other people, organize your cast and crew effectively. Make sure everybody knows their role and what day and time they’re needed.

Give people specific jobs so they can become experts in their field. For example, a sound recordist listens to the sound through headphones as it’s being recorded, and holds an extra microphone if needed.

A camera operator frames the picture, sets focus, checks the light and records the action.

The editor “cuts” the picture together after it’s shot.

A producer is the contact point for the film. He or she makes sure crew and cast are there on time, talks to the press and organizes the budget.

A director has to make sure their vision is communicated. To do this everyone needs to be clear about what the director expects from each scene and each shot.

You may also need a make-up-artist, a choreographer, a driver, etc. However, you can quite easily make your first film on your own. Make a schedule that says which shots are to be taken where and when (this is called a shooting schedule) and when you’ve completed a take, cross it off the list. Remember that you may want to shoot “out of sequence”, e.g. shoot the last scene first, and the first last. Similarly if the film begins and ends by a tree in the park, it may make sense to film both scenes while you’re there.

Continuity is particularly important in drama. Take a Polaroid camera and take photos to capture details. You may need to come back to a scene days later. When you decide your locations, consider whether you need permission to use the space, how noisy it will be and what the light will be like at the time of day you will need to use it. Is there power available? Are you likely to be interrupted?

If you’re making animation (动画片) or any computer generated stuff, have a space that you can control. You may need extra lights and you may need to leave work in progress. Make sure people living with you are aware what’s happening. Animation needs a lot of undisturbed concentration a nd patience. Keep at it and it’ll pay off. Aardmann and Disney both started off at home experimenting with clay (黏土), pens and a camera.

46. A director knows the purpose of each step of the work, but_______________________ .

A. he needn’t tell others abou t that

B. other members just follow his orders

C. he must have it known and well understood by others

D. others may have their own ideas and special ways of working

47. To shoot a film, a shooting schedule must be fixed first ___________________________.

A. but it may be crossed off if unnecessary

B. but you needn’t work exactly on it

C. and each step must be carried out by it

D. and no one can change it once settled

48. It can be inferred from the next-to-last paragraph that ____________________________.

A. you need to ask others’ advice when deciding locations

B. it is easy to find a proper location to shoot a film

C. once you find a good place to film you must check it later

D. unexpected things may happen while you are shooting in a place

49. What is the last paragraph mainly about?

A. Preparations for making animation.

B. The importance of family’s support.

C. The equipment of making animation.

D. Successful stories of Aardmann and Disney.

46. C 事实细节题根据A director has to ...

Reading is a great way to improve your English. You'll learn new words, revise previously-taught structures and absorb thousands of useful expressions and phrases... without any effort. By reading, you are receiving valuable language input. And this is how you learn! Remember, language learning is a combination of input + practice. As you're reading, you're taking in language naturally, and you're seeing how it all fits together. This is crucial to your learning.

The great thing about reading is that learning takes place subconsciously. There are no exercises to do, no grammar rules to learn, no tasks to complete... it's all natural. The language flows in through your eyes, and gets registered(记录) in your brain. What could be easier?

The key to effective reading is to read things that you want to read. There are millions of books, magazines and websites out there. You couldn't possibly read them all. So, the important thing is to find things that you like reading. Then, you'll be motivated to read. And then the reading won't be difficult. It'll be easy! And then you'll learn. It's simple.

Remember: read what you want to read. What you like reading. What motivates and inspires you. But where can you start? Well, you could read a book that you've already read in your own language. Simply find a translated version of a book that you have read and enjoyed. This will make processing the content in the target language much easier a s you’ll already know what the book is about! You could also read the news. This is great as you can read the news in your own language first, then in English. You'll see that it won't be too difficult as you'll be familiar with the topics and stories. Magazines are also great. Find one that covers a topic you're interested in: business, clothing, guns, horses, houses, housekeeping, stocks and shares, sports, computers, electronics, designing, cooking... you name it, they'll have it. If not, look for information on the internet. There are also websites for every topic under the sun! Why not join a forum? They're a great source of English input as the language is often written in a simple, spoken style. Go to Google Groups, which has discussion groups based on common interests. Just type in the topic that interests you and join the chat.

Finally, how you read is also important. The best thing is to read without using a dictionary. Let the words flow over you. Just skip the parts you don't understand. If you make your reading feel too much like work, it'll stop being fun. Of course, you could make a note of any new words and phrases that you like or see repeated frequently, but try not to break your concentration too much. Also, set yourself mini-objectives. For example, if you're reading a novel, read 20 pages a day. Very soon, you'll have been exposed to thousands of useful phrases and words. Have fun reading! You'll learn so much!

D

Several weeks ago, a mysterious Christmas card dropped through our mailbox. The envelope was addressed to a man named Raoul, who, I was relatively certain, did not live with us. The envelope wasn't sealed, so I opened it. The inside of the card was blank. Ed, my husband, explained that the card was both from and to the newspaper deliveryman. His name was apparently Raoul, and Raoul wanted a holiday tip. We were meant to put a check inside the card and then drop the envelope in the mail. When your services are finished at 4 a.m., you can't simply hang around, like a hotel bellboy expecting a tip. You have to be direct.

So I wrote a nice holiday greeting to this man who, in my imagination, fires The New York Times from his bike aimed at our front door, causing more noise with mere newsprint than most people manage with sophisticated(复杂的) black market fireworks. With a start, I realized that perhaps the reason for the 4 a.m. wake-up noise was not ordinary rudeness but carefully executed spite(怨恨): I had not tipped Raoul in Christmas past. I honestly hadn't realized I was supposed to. This was the first time he'd used the card tactic(策略). So I got out my checkbook. Somewhere along the line, holiday tipping went from an optional thank-you for a year of services to a Mafia-style protection racket (收保护费组织).

Several days later, I was bringing our garbage bins back when I noticed an envelope taped to one of the lids. The outside of the envelope said MICKEY. It had to be another tip request, this time from our garbage collector. Unlike Raoul, Mickey hadn't enclosed his own Christmas card from me. In a way, I appreciated the directness. "I know you don't care how merry my Christmas is, and that's fine," the gesture said. "I want $30, or I'll 'forget' to empty your garbage bin some hot summer day." I put a check in the envelope and taped it back to the bin. The next morning, Ed noticed that the envelope was gone, though the trash hadn't yet been picked up: "Someone stole Mickey's tip!" Ed was quite certain. He made me call the bank and cancel the check. But Ed had been wrong. Two weeks later, Mickey left a letter from the bank on our steps. The letter informed Mickey that the check, which he had tried to cash, had been cancelled.

The following Tuesday morning, when Ed saw a truck outside, he ran out with his wallet. "Are you Mickey?" The man looked at him with scorn(轻蔑). "Mickey is the garbageman. I am the recycling." Not only had Ed insulted(侮辱)this man by suggesting that he was a garbageman, but he had obviously neglected to tip him. Ed ran back inside for more funds. Then he noticed that the driver of the truck had been watching the whole incident. He peeled off

another twenty and looked around, waving bills in the air. "Anyone else? "

Had we consulted the website of the Emily Post Institute, this embarrassing break of etiquette (礼节) could have been avoided. Under "trash/recycling collectors" in the institute's Holiday Tipping Guidelines, it says: "$10 to $30 each." You may or may not wish to know that your hairdresser, mailman and UPS guy all expect a holiday tip.

D. didn't feel it necessary to meet Raoul when he came

57. According to the passage, the author felt _______________ to give Raoul a holiday tip.

A. excited

B. happy

C. embarrassed

D. forced

58. Which of the following is true about Mickey, the garbage collector?

B. He failed to collect the money from the bank.

D. He collected both the check and the garbage that day.

59. Ed's encounter(遭遇) with the recycling team shows that________________________________.

A. Ed was desperate to correct his mistake

B. Ed only wanted to give money to Raoul

Post Institute

61.__________________________

Learn how to tell your favorite anecdotes or jokes until you can say them without thinking. First, write them out on a piece of paper. Then, make notes and practice saying them to yourself until you know them by heart. Now you're ready to try them out on real people. The more you

practice, the better they'll get. It's amazing as you watch other people listen to your funny story in another language and laugh in the right places!

62.__________________________

Phone up international hotels in towns where you live and make enquiries in English. Even if you live in a non-English speaking country, the reception staff will almost certainly speak English. This is a great way to practice your spoken English... and it's free. Just invent a few questions to ask. You could do the same in shops (pretending to be a foreigner who only speaks English), but that's a bit more difficult as you have to act the part too!

63.__________________________

Just go onto https://www.wendangku.net/doc/0e9023026.html, (or any other site with classified ads) and find someone who's interested in learning a language (you speak your language, which the other person wants to learn; and they speak their language, which you want to learn). You can do this online or in person. You both get to practice the language you want to learn... for free. Plus, you'll meet new and interesting people. [under 18s, please consult an adult before doing this.]

64.__________________________

Get together with some friends. You can get the scripts for just about any film or TV series from the internet. You could even try to learn your parts by heart, which would really help your English. If you're feeling adventurous, you could put on a mini-show at your school or place of work.

65.__________________________

Have fun writing sentences on the computer and listening to them repeated back to you. Visit https://www.wendangku.net/doc/0e9023026.html, and type in words or expressions, or paste them in from another source. Then, click on the audio symbol and listen. For extra fun, type in funny sentences or words and listen to the computer lady read them back to you.

A. Act it out

B. Organize a language exchange

C. Free conversations

D. Story telling

E. Computer settings

F. Computer fun

例如:

There are many people think that wealth is better than health. I used to thinking so until one day I

read a story about Howard Hughes. He was a American billionaire who got everything he wants.

Therefore, in the last twenty years of his life, his health became worse and she was miserable. He had

the best doctors and nurse. But he could still find no relief. I realized that health is worth all the money

in the world. If you have millions of dollars but your health is poor, you will not be able to do that

you want to do. So I would like to say, “ D on‘t hurt at yourself and try to make money. Instead, take

care of your body and be happy at what you do. Healthy is more important.”

His name was Alfred Nobel. He was a great scientist and inventor himself. Besides, he had a big business. His business may surprise you. He made and sold explosives. His companies even made and sold weapons. Isn’t this something that surprises you? The man who made money from weapons should set up the Peace Prize? When he died in 1896, he left behind him a lot of money and his famous will. According to his will, most of his money was placed in a fund. He wanted the interest from the fund to be used as prizes every year. We know them as the Nobel Prizes. The Nobel Prizes are international. Alfred Nobel wanted the winners to be chosen for their work, not the country they came from. Alfred Nobel had given his whole life to his studies and work and to the benefits of mankind. Many people who do a lot of close work, such as writing, reading and sewing, become nearsighted. Then they have to wear glasses in order to see distant things clearly.

2019年浙江省温州市高考英语模拟试卷(2月份)-解析版

2019年浙江省温州市高考英语模拟试卷(2月份) 一、阅读理解(本大题共10小题,共25.0分) A ‘Turtle time!,loudly called out by one of my newly-found friends, meant the beginning of either a morning or afternoon shift at Turtle Camp in Nusa Penida,Indonesia.Upon arrival at the project each day,we would look eagerly for our names on the whiteboard to see which task we would be undertaking.Would it be the highly desirable ‘turtle feeding',the pretty fun ‘tank cleaning',the exciting ‘medicine administering' or the less appealing ‘fish cutting'?Fine in theory but not when every fly in Indonesia decides to crowd onto these dead fish while you're cutting! Life at the turtle project was fun because twice a day we got to hang out with sea turtles.By ‘hang out',I obviously meant ‘work',as we were on shift, but it certainly didn't feel like work.Another fun thing was getting to know the other volunteers! With volunteers from all over the world,it was just common to hear Finnish being spoken,Australian slang mixed with French expressions and Swedes making plans to visit newly-found friends in the USA.Of course, not all the time at Turtle Camp was consumed by volunteering.Scheduled activities included a trip to Crystal Bay,a beautiful paradise for swimming and sunbathing,an awesome beach bonfire complete with a beautiful sunset as well as our local coworkers showing off their guitar playing and singing skills. Our time at Turtle Camp was capped off by setting free two of our turtles into the sea to begin their journey as independent turtles! Hopefully, the love and care provided at the turtle project would ensure that these turtles had a greater chance of survival in the big, wide and scary ocean. 1.Which task is less fun to the volunteers at Turtle Camp?______ A. Turtle feeding. B. Tank cleaning. C. Medicine Administering. D. Fish Cutting. 2.What does the underlined sentence imply?______ A. The volunteering was a challenge. B. The time at the camp was difficult. C. The work at the project was a delight. D. Communication was time-consuming. 3.When setting free the two turtles, the volunteers felt a sense of ______ . A. achievement B. belonging C. loss D. independence B If you're looking at livable cities as inspiration for your holiday, you'll miss out on many great tourist destinations.According to Mercer's 2018 Quality of Living Survey,Moscow ranks 167 and Beijing only 119,yet both provide ample visitor pleasures.Meanwhile high-ranked cities such as Kobe (神户)or Seattle may be easy places to live in,but offer only passing interest to tourists. In truth, many of the world's most livable cities are a little dull. The world isn't rushing to visit Canberra or Montreal. In fact, none of the world's 10 most visited cities appear in Mercer's top 20.Clearly,considerations that create enjoyable holiday destinations differ from those that make cities fine places to live in. This should be no surprise, since livability lists aren't concerned with tourists or even local residents but rather expats(侨民).Mercer, for example,is a British-based professional service firm whose lists supply multinationals with human resources information about where to locate their businesses."The success of foreign business is influenced by issues such as ease of travel and communication, personal safety, and access to public services, says Slagin Parakatil, who oversees Mercer's research. In short,Mercer considers whether cities are attractive to business and investment, and have good schools, hospitals and housing while such factors seldom influence tourists. Still,Mercer's Quality of Living Survey has its uses for tourists, since it also looks at natural and cultural environments and recreation. It ranks public transport and infrastructure(基础设施)particularly highly,a consideration shared by the World Economic Forum in reports on tourism and travel competitiveness. This includes hotels,rental-cars and even ATM availability, all of which make a destination friendly to expats and visitors alike. 4.What do we know about livable cities?______ A. They hardly offer tourist passing interest. B. They may not be good tourist destinations. C. They can arouse the inspiration of visitors. D. They are usually highly ranked by tourists. 5.What is Mercer more concerned about when ranking livable cities?______ A. Tourist attractions. B. ATM availability. C. Business-friendliness. D. Local residents. 6.Why does the writer use Mercer's Quality of Living Survey?______ A. To make his view convincing. B. To compare those livable cities. C. To better understand the survey. D. To support the British-based firm. C Every day around the world, thousands of people with little to no scholarly training in art history walk into museums. They may or may not read notice boards that share relevant information of the artworks or artists.Imagine, before being permitted to direct their eyeballs to the art on the walls, museum visitors were required to read a 15- or 20-page introduction to each piece or each artist. How many people would go to museums if that were the case? Yet this seems to be the expectation when it comes to reading classic literature.Classic novels typically come with 15- or 20-page introductions, which often include spoilers, assuming that readers do not come to classic books to discover,be absorbed in,and be surprised by the story world. Also, apparently,we mustn't read classics alone, without experts guiding our experiences. However, classic literature is in a unique position to show us that we're not alone in our pains and joys.By taking us out of our time, classic books free us to see beyond the set of beliefs we stick to and to connect human experiences that remain alive across time and place. What could be more grounding, more comforting, than seeing ourselves in the battles, longings, and pleasures that have played out across hundreds, thousands of years of human history? Our personal engagement is the first step of a longer journey of discovery that deepens our knowledge and understanding of ourselves and our world. We may,for example, feel for Hester Prynne from Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter though we despair of the world she lived in. While we're letting go of things, let's stop worrying about understanding everything. We can't.It will be fun if we embrace curiosity, the pleasure of working out a mystery, and our common relationships as humans. We can feel, for example, the power of self-sacrifice in Charles Dickens'A Tale of Two Cities even when we lack full understanding of the cultural references and language. 7.Most museum goers ______ . A. enjoy reading notice boards B. understand the artworks well C. lack professional art knowledge D. share common interest in artworks 8.What can the spoilers in Para.2 possibly be ?______ A. Story writers. B. Readers' expectations. C. Guiding experts. D. Plots given away in advance. 9.What prevents readers enjoying reading classics?______ A. Showing curiosity about the writers. B. Letting go of things.

It’s 21 for a big, strong schoolboy to push an elderly woman aside for the last 22 seat on the bus, much less stand up and offer his seat to her, as he ought to. In fact, it is a 23 to note that if a man does offer his seat to an older woman, it is nearly always a man of the older 24 . This question of 25 seats in public transport is much argued by young men, who say that, since women have claimed 26 , they no longer deserve to be treated 27 and that those who go out to work should take their turn in the rat race like anyone else. Women have never claimed to be 28 as strong as men. Even if it’s not 29 that young men should stand up for older women, however, the fact remains that good manners should be shown to the old, the 30 and the burdened. Are we really so lost to all ideals of 31 that we can sit there calmly reading the paper or a book, saying to ourselves “First come, -haired woman, or a mother with a young child stands? 32 this is too often first served”, while a gray seen.
