Note 816773 - DB6: Installing an SAP OEM license

If you have obtained DB2 from SAP, download the license from SAP Service Marketplace as follows:

1. Go to https://www.wendangku.net/doc/0c11002807.html,/swdc.

2. Choose "Database and Database Patches (from other vendors)".

3. Choose "DB2 for LUW".

4. Click the database version for which you want to download the license files:

o For DB2 Version 8.2, click "DB2/UDB 8".

o For DB2 Version 9.1, click "DB2 FOR LUW 9.1".

o For DB2 Version 9.5, click "DB2 FOR LUW 9.5".

o For DB2 Version 9.7, click "DB2 FOR LUW 9.7".

o For DB2 Version 10.1, click "DB2 FOR LUW 10.1".

5. Choose "Installation".

6. Choose "DB2 UDB".

7. Download the following object:

o For DB2 Version 8.2: "01200314692000000079" (DB2 V8.2 SAP OEM License)

o For DB2 Version 9.1: "01200615322000000718" (DB2 V9.1 SAP OEM License)

o For DB2 Version 9.5: "01200314692000000364" (DB2 V9.5 SAP OEM License)

o For DB2 Version 9.7: "01200615322000001502" (DB2 V9.7 SAP OEM License)

o For DB2 Version 10.1: "67837800102000002740" (DB2 10.1 SAP OEM License)

8. Download the following object only if you have obtained the additional DB2 pureScale license from SAP as well as the standard DB2 license:

o For DB2 Version 10.1: "67837800102000002741" (DB2 10.1 SAP OEM License DB2 purescale Feature)


Version 8.2 of DB2 UDB for UNIX and Windows:

Unpack the ZIP file "01200314692000000079" (DB2 V8.2 SAP OEM License) using a suitable unpacking program.

As the user db2, install the DB2 license using the following command:

db2licm db2ese.lic

The ZIP file also contains additional licenses for the software solution IBM Tivoli System Automation. You require these licenses if you want to operate a cluster. As the root user, install the licenses on each cluster node in which the software is required. Depending on which software version is installed (for example, 2.2.x.x or 2.3.x.x), you must install one of the following licenses:

* samlicm -i sam22.lic

* samlicm -i sam23.lic


Check the active Tivoli System Automation software using the following command:

lssamctrl

Use the following command to check whether you correctly installed the license:

samlicm -s

After the initial installation, the license will only cover one processor. If you use more than one processor, the diagnosis log of DB2 (db2diag.log) will contain the following entries:

SQL8017W The number of processors on this machine exceeds the defined entitlement of "1" for the product ....... The number of processors on this machine is ""

As an SAP OEM customer, you can use as many processors as required. This message is simply a warning that y

ou can ignore. If you no longer want to receive this warning, you can also increase the number of processors that are licensed for use as follows:

1. Log on as user db2.

2. Determine the DB2 product ID using the command: db2licm -l

3. Increase the number of processors using the following command:
db2licm -n

For example: db2licm -n DB2ESE 2


Version 9.1 of DB2 for UNIX and Windows:

Unpack the ZIP file "01200615322000000718" (DB2 V9.1 SAP OEM License) using a suitable unpacking program.

As the user db2, install the DB2 license using the following commands:

* db2licm -a db2ese_c.lic

* db2licm -a db2dpf.lic

* db2licm -a db2so.lic


Use the following command to check whether you correctly installed the license:

db2licm -l

You must have installed a permanent license for the "DB2 Enterprise Server Edition" product that has the following features:

* DB2 database partitioning

* DB2 storage optimization


The ZIP file also contains additional licenses for the software solution IBM Tivoli System Automation. You require these licenses if you want to operate a cluster. As the root user, install the licenses on each cluster node in which the software is required. Depending on which software version is installed (for example, 2.2.x.x or 2.3.x.x), you must install one of the following licenses:

* samlicm -i sam21.lic

* samlicm -i sam22.lic

* samlicm -i sam23.lic

* samlicm -i sam31.lic


Check the active Tivoli System Automation software using the following command:

lssamctrl

Use the following command to check whether you correctly installed the license:

samlicm -s



Version 9.5 of DB2 for UNIX and Windows:

Unpack the ZIP file "01200314692000000364" (DB2 V9.5 SAP OEM License) using a suitable unpacking program.
As the user db2, install the DB2 license using the following commands:

* db2licm -a db2ese_c.lic

* db2licm -a db2dpf.lic

* db2licm -a db2so.lic

* db2licm -a db2poese.lic


Use the following command to check whether you correctly installed the license:

db2licm -l

You must have installed a permanent license for the product "DB2 Enterprise Server Edition" with the CPU option and the following features:

* DB2 database partitioning

* DB2 st

* DB2 performance optimization ESE


Note: The feature "DB2 Performance Optimization ESE" authorizes the use of the Workload Manager (WLM) only. The installation and operation of the DB2 Query Patroller and of the DB2 Performance Expert are not part of the license. If you also want to use these products, you need to obtain a special license from IBM.

The ZIP file also contains additional licenses for the software solution IBM Tivoli System Automation. You require these licenses if you want to operate a cluster. As the root user, install the licenses on each cluster node in which the software is required. * db2licm -a db2dpf.lic

* db2licm -a db2so.lic

* db2licm -a db2poese.lic


Use the following command to check whether you correctly installed the license:

db2licm -l

* db2licm -a db2ese_c.lic

* db2licm -a db2dpf.lic

* db2licm -a db2so.lic

* db2licm -a db2poese.lic


Use the following command to check whether you correctly installed the license:

db2licm -l

IBM DB2 10 pureScale Feature

To use the IBM DB2 pureScale Feature, you must have obtained the additional DB2 pureScale license from SAP.

As an SAP OEM pureScale customer, you obtain two additional licenses in addition to the SAP OEM licenses for IBM DB2 10 described above. Unpack the ZIP file "67837800102000002741" (DB2 10.1 SAP OEM License DB2 purescale Feature) using a suitable unpacking program.

As the user db2, install the DB2 pureScale license on each pureScale using the following command:

db2licm -a db2dsf.lic

Use the following command to check whether you correctly installed the license:

db2licm -l

A permanent license should be installed for the product "DB2 pureScale Feature".

As an SAP OEM pureScale customer, you are allowed to operate an SAP cluster in addition to the database cluster. You must install the license required for this on each SAP cluster node as the root user using the following command:

samlicm -i ANY_5724M00_3.2.LIC

Use the following command to check whether you correctly installed the license:

samlicm -s

A permanent license should be installed for the product "SA for MP - SAP HA policy".
