The Izu Dancer

1、Summary

The Izu Dancer is a film about the journey of a poignant encounter . Hero Chuandao, a pre-university student ，who grew up as an orphan，traveled to Izu alone before the summer semester .Taking shelter from the rain in a teahouse，he met a group of Wandering Kabuki artists .Attracted by a pure kind little dancer called Xunzi，he decided to walk together with these artists .

Unlike most people，Chuandao didn't care about th e Kabuki artists’humble status and often invited them to play in his hotel.Along with further contact,his heart was captured by the innocent and kind little dancer.Similarly,Xunzi was alsodeeplyattracted to Chuandao’s gentility.After an intense ideological struggle,he decided to leave the little dancer.On Parting Eve, Chuandao had intended to take Xunzi out to town ，but her mother refused to let her go out on the ground that she had to perform for their customers.In fact ,her mother was afraid that Xunzi’s love could not last long because of the differences of their status.Knowing the truth ，Xunzi had no choice but to see Chuandao off sadly and helplessly. Then she still continued her career as a Wandering Kabuki artist.

The basic mood of the film is sad and helpless .

The film director arranged many details to pile up the agony. Forexample,The old stroke man’s great pain，the discrimination against the Wandering Kabuki artists，Qiandaizi’s abortion ，Ajun’s death etc.All these details reflect a miserable and helpless feeling.

Yes ,of course.The film shows the beauty of a hazy and pure love.

The film director made a combination of the beautiful scenery and the pure love between hero and heroine to create a beautiful world.

4、Which character impress you most？

Xunzi's image impressed me most.Her innocence and kindness are just like a clear spring, bringing cool feeling to me.

5、What is your expected fate of the heroin？

I think the heroine will gradually lose her innocence and be reduced to a geisha in the future . The last shot of the filmgives the hint.In fact, In the hierarchical society, Xunzi’s inferior status doom s her to this inescapable fate.
