EPISODE 2"The Blind Date"
Background
题解：约会（dating）是美国男女交往以及恋爱结婚的重要起始步骤，通过dating可以增进了解和建立感情。由别人介绍而男女双方素未谋面的约会称为blind date，意谓直到见面以前都是“盲目”——两眼一摸黑。苏珊是职业女性，公司要员，年纪较大了，难怪别人要给她介绍约会对象，而且有孩子了。此人比较老实木讷，苏姗会喜欢他吗？
梗概：哈里·贝内特去找苏珊住的公寓套房，却走得晕头转向，迟到了。玛丽琳正在苏珊处，促他们去饭馆。贝内特不放心女儿米歇尔，打电话把饭馆的电话号码告诉了临时保姆。果然，到饭馆刚要了菜，电话寻踪而至——女儿病了。贝内特匆匆告辞。苏珊把饭菜带回家里和玛丽琳共享，而贝内特却又赶回来了。玛丽琳知趣告辞。二人谈了一会儿，贝内特又匆匆走了。那他给苏珊留下了什么印象呢？一起走进第二集吧！

On a street in downtown Manhattan 1. Harry Bennett is carrying some flowers. He takes out a piece of paper from his pocket. It reads, “Susan Stewart , 83 Wooster Street, phone 555-9470,8：00 P.M.”Harry stops to talk to a street vendor. He asks him for directions.Notes：

A few minutes later. Harry finds Wooster Street. He rings the buzzer13 to Susan's apartment.

4.U.S.LIFE
Most Americans are happy to give directions on the street. When Harry asked for direction, he started with ''Excuse me''. This is the usual way to begin a conversation with a stranger or to ask for information.
When asking for directions, it often helps to add a little explanation, such as ''I'm new here'' or ''I'm afraid I'm lost''. You can also start with a question, such as ''Do you know this area?'' or ''Can you tell me how to get to …?''
Always repeat the directions after you hear them. Repeating will help you remember, and it shows the person helping you that you understand.
Translation:
大多数美国人都乐意在大街上为别人指路。当Harry问路时，他先说Excuse me，这是与陌生人谈话及问询时常用的开头语。
