One day a student was walking with his teacher in the countryside. As they went along, they saw a pair of old shoes lying in the path. They were a poor farmer’s, who was working in the nearby field.

The student turned to the teacher saying:”We hide his shoes, and hide ourselves behind those trees, and wait to see what he will do.”

“ My young friend,” answered the teacher, “ we should never make fun of the poor. Why not put a coin in each shoe, and then we hide ourselves and watch?” The student did so and they both hid themselves behind the trees. The poor man soon finished his work, and came across the field to the path where he had left his coat and shoes. After putting on his coat, he put his foot into one of his shoes, and felt something hard. Then he bent (弯腰) down to feel what it was, and found the coin. Surprised, he looked at the coin, turned it around and looked at it again. He then looked around, but no person was seen. He put the money into his pocket, and continued to put on the other shoe. His surprise doubled on finding the other coin.

He couldn’t control his feelings and fell to his knees, looked up at the sky and expressed his thanks. Then he spoke of his wife, sick and helpless, and his children without bread. He said the help would save them from dying.

The student stood there deeply moved, and his eyes filled with tears. “Now,” said the teacher, “are you not much happier than if you had hidden the shoes?”

I work in a nursing home and my job is to take care of the elderly.

This year, a very sweet old lady that I cared for, Alice, had gone through a difficult time. She got dementia and so she had been in the hospital twice. In November I was finally able to get her ba ck to her “home”.

Alice had thought her daughter was coming to visit her on Christmas Day and that they were going to have the whole family together like the old days. When she finally realized that that happy moment was not going to happen, she was very sad. Knowing that her daughter was coming after Christmas was not enough to make her feel happy.

I hated the idea of her being alone on the holiday!

On Christmas Eve, I gave her a surprise by asking if she would like to go to a candlelight service at church that night.

Instead of taking her to my church, I took her to her old neighborhood church where all her friends were. We got there early and I got her a seat where her friends could see her as they came in. Then soon some of her friends came to the church and they rushed over to greet her and sit with her.

The candlelight service was beautiful and Alice got a lot of love from her old and new friends there.

The truth of the story is that I am the one who got the best gift: the smile on Alice’ face.

As she stood in front of her class, like most teachers, she said that she loved them all. However, that was impossible, because in the front row there was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard. Mrs. Thompson noticed that he did not play well with the other children, and that his clothes were dirty. In addition, Teddy performed badly in studies.

Then, she was required to review each child’s past records. However, when she reviewed Teddy’s, she was in surprise.

One of Teddy’s former teachers wrote, “Teddy is an excellent student with a ready laugh and good manners, well liked by his classmates, but his mother’s death has been hard on him. His home life will soon affect him if some steps aren’t taken.”

By now, Mrs. Thompson realized the problem and she was ashamed of herself. She felt worse when her students brought her beautiful Christmas presents, wrapped in beautiful ribbons and bright paper, except for Teddy’s. His present was an old bottle that was one- quarter full of perfume(香水). She applied some of the perfume to her wrist. Teddy Stoddard stayed after school that day just to say, “Mrs. Thompson, today you smell just like my mom used to be.” After he left, she cried for an hour.

Since then, Mrs. Thompson paid particular attention to Teddy. The more she encouraged him, the faster he progressed. By the end of the year, Teddy had become one of the smartest children in the class.

The story did not end there. Years later, there was a letter from Teddy, saying he was going to be married. He was wondering if Mrs. Thompson might agree to sit at the wedding in the place that was usually reserved for the mother.

Of course, Mrs. Thompson did. And guess what! She wore the perfume. They hugged each other, and Dr. Stoddard whispered in Mrs. Thompson’s ear, “ Thank you

so much for showing me that I could make a difference.” Mrs. Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back, “Teddy, you were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didn’t know how to teach until I met you.”

Sure, it’s good to get along with your te acher because it makes that time you spend in the classroom more pleasant. And yes, it’s good to get along with your teacher because, in general, it’s smart to learn how to relate to the different types of people you’ll meet throughout your life.

But real ly, there’s one super-important reason why you should get along with your teacher. Kids who get along with their teachers not only learn more, but they’re more comfortable asking questions and getting extra help. This makes it easier to understand new material and do your best on tests. When you have this kind of relationship with a teacher, he or she can be someone to turn to with problems, such as problems with learning or school issues, such as bullying.

As a kid in elementary or middle school, you’re a t a wonderful stage in your life. You’re able to take in lots of new and exciting information. Apart from that, you’re able to think about all this information in new ways. Your teacher knows that, and in most cases, he or she is thrilled to be the person who’s giving you all that material and helping you put it together. Remember, teachers are people, too, and they feel great

if you’re open to what they’re teaching you. That’s why they wanted to be teachers in the first place to teach!

Some kids may be able to learn in any situation, whether they like the teacher or not. But most kids are sensitive to the way they get along with the teacher, and if things aren’t going well, they won’t learn as well and won’t enjoy being in class.

四、具体工作和主要措施: 1.经过高一一年的强化学习,有一少部分的学生掌握了英语学习的基本方法,形成了相对较好的学习习惯,部分学生能够主动地进行英语学习,但不可否认的是,由于我们相当一部分的学生英语没有基础或基础太差,在高一一年的学习中虽然也在努力向上了,但结果并不乐观,仍有相当大部分的学生的学习还处于被动和逼迫学习状态,课上睡觉、不听课、不学习等等因此英语课堂教学的难度真的很大很大。(面试 网 .mian4.) 2.对策 由于普通学校的这种极端特殊的情况,经过实践经验,本人觉得教学应该从实际出发,因材施教,分类推进,并尽快拉齐全体教学进度。并配合学校对学生进行全面的督促,让学生们日有所得,周有所会,月有收获。加强中等生和后进生的辅导工作,让后进生不掉队,增强包生和辅导工作,尽量让后进生不掉队,中等生向上赶,优秀生突出来。或尽量使优秀一点的学生吃得饱,有发展这样多层次的方式进行教学。 3.对学科思想进行深入细致的探究。 通过研究和探讨,深刻体会英语学科的思想,了解本学科的本质,构建本学科的整体教学思路,钻研本学科的特点,在学生的长期英语教育上下苦功夫,教给学生英语的学习方法,为学生未来的学习和运用英语打下坚实的基础。 4.在教学过程中,认真钻研教材,课程标准,研讨学法和教法上,保持同年级英语教学大体上做到六个统一:统一课时,统一学习目标,统一重点、难点,统一检测题,统一估计学生练习后存在的问题及点拨方法,统一课堂作业。 第 3 页共 6 页
