读懂英文报刊必备的专业术语

1.导读(teasers/sky box/promos) 用于推送报纸内页中最好的报道。

2.报头(flag/nameplate/logotype) 报纸的名字，一般置于第一版的上端，大多在上端偏左或上端正中。

3.转文行(jump line) 说明该报道来自哪一块或者未完的内容跳到哪一页。

4.图表(info-graphics) 以示意图、图表、地图和列表的形式传递数据信息。

5.索引(index/news rail/news digest) 内容目录,另一种导读形式。

6.发行卷数(volume and issue number)

7.标题(headline) 新闻的标题或者概括性文字，通常以较大的字体放在正文的上方。

8.肩题(kicker/overline/label) 一般放于标题之上，最经常被用来简单表示故事的主题。比如用“经济”来概括一个关于PMI的文章。

9.副标题(subhead/deck) 大标题下的小标题，简要介绍新闻内容。

10.小标题(breaker/subhead) 一排黑体字，用于组织报道内容，避免正文版式呆板。

11.甩版标题(jump headline) 对于正文承接自其他版面的标题处理方式。

12.相关报道(refer/teaser) 提示相关文章刊登于第几版。

13.报眉(folio) 眉线上方所印的文字，包括报名、版次、出版日期、版面内容标识等。

14.首字大写(initial cap/drop cap) 放在一篇报道第一段的大写字母。

15.正文(text/legs) 以一种标准字号和字体排版的新闻报道，呈竖条状。

16.引文方块(breakout) 包括liftout quote (也叫pull quote)，big number和boxes等。摘自新闻内通的一段摘引文字，或者数字，或者提供信息事实类文字，起强调作用。

17.署名行(byline) 作者的名字。

18.电讯电头(dateline) 在文章开头写明发稿地址。

19.专刊报头(section flag) 围绕某一特定主题所设的栏目，比如体育，国际新闻等，一般section flag 包括folio元素。

20.特别报道标题(page label) 用于特别报道的标示，通常用于一个整版报道里。比如习近平出访会写“Xi’s visit”，尼泊尔地震会用“Nepal earthquake.”

21.反白字(reverse type) 黑底白字

22.图片来源(photo credit) 摄影师姓名，通常也包括摄影师所在单位或者通讯社名称。

23.辅文(sidebar) 与主要报道相关的报道，通常加灰底或者框放在主要报道的旁边。

24.图片说明(caption/cutline) 一张照片或者图表的说明性文字。

25.栏目标题(standing head) 一般指固定性, 常规不变的栏目标题，比如China Daily里2版的简讯briefly，每日抓拍candid camera等。

26.独立照片(standalone) 在美国报纸有时也称为“wild art”或者“CLO”，COL指的式the “cutlines only.”

27.基本栏(column) 需要注意的是，Legs在英文里指一竖条填满文字内容的栏。和一般所说的基本栏column应该有所区别。

28.头像照片(mugshot) 被报道人物的头像照片。

29.栏距(gutter) 版面各元素之间的垂直留白。

30.分割线(cutoff line) 将一个版面中的各要素分割开的线条。
