（一）缺乏语言环境
高中英语教学普遍存在“哑巴英语”的情况。作为一门语言学科，只有不断地练习，才能娴熟地运用。但是在高中阶段，学生缺乏语言环境来训练口语，没有说英语的氛围。
（二）教师口语水平普遍偏低
目前我国高中英语教师的口语水平普遍不高，很多教师本身口语就不流利、不标准，不能给学生树立正面榜样，使学生落入“无声英语”的困境。
（三）班级人数过多
我国教育资源一直紧张，每个班级学生的人数过多，即使有英语口语训练课，也不能让每个学生都得到开口说英语的机会，这不利于高中学生的口语互动训练。
（四）对口语重视程度不够
鉴于长期的升学压力和单纯对分数的要求，使教师、家长和学生都对口语的重视程度不够，认为口语能力只是“锦上添花”，只有得到高分才是最重要的。长此以往，教学重点发生偏差，学生想要锻炼口语能力难上加难。
