Nowadays, many people further their education in the cyberspace. As every coin has two sides, cyber education also has its advantages and disadvantages.

Cyber education can help us fulfill the ambition of lifelong learning for the Internet offers everyone a chance to get educated. First and foremost, cyber education can save papers, which can reduce countless waste of paper in traditional education effectively. Secondly, students in cyber education are highly motivated that they cannot sit passively in the back row twiddling their mental thumbs as the clock ticks away. They must think and they write a lot. Thirdly, cyber students do not regard their text books as “the only pool of knowledge” that they can “drink from.”instead, they are actively engaged in online debates, conferences and papers, through such collaborative, they can develop critical thinking and gain good insights. Last but not least, so flexible as it is, we can learn through the Internet whenever and wherever, studying what is suitable for me and learning at my own pace.

Advantages apart, disadvantages of cyber education are obvious. Students of a virtual university cannot have the face-to-face interaction with their teachers and supervisors, which is something that goes against the humanistic approach to education. Cyber education or online courses may be suitable for adult college graduates who wish to engage in

professional training of continuing education. It may not be desirable for young students who wish to have a formal degree education. Moreover, students of a virtual university can’t enjoy a true colorful and interesting campus life.
