Instead of working with textbooks, newspapers, magazines all day, you could find that the e-book reader fits all in one. An e-book reader has the memory space to hold hundreds of books. The size of an e-book reader is the same as that of real books. Its screen is different from that of a computer. It is as thin as a piece of paper. The words on the e-book's screen look exactly the same as words on real pages. But you can do more with an e-book reader than you can with a paper book. The reader can change the size of words and download an e-book in 60 seconds.

“It’s so convenient. You can have so many books right at your fingers!” said Maggie, a 16-year-old American school girl. Last year her high school gave away the 20,000 books in its library. The head of the library said that the school was not going to use paper books any more and teachers and students would use e-book readers instead.

Chinese school children are also trying e-book readers. At the 2010 Shanghai Expo, an e-schoolbag was on show. It is a special e-book reader that students can use to download textbooks from school. It can also send and receive homework.

Some schools in Beijing and Shanghai have tried this e-schoolbag for a few years. “It’s excellent. I don’t have to carry a heavy schoolbag any more, said Xiao Qi, 15, Beijing. “And it’s environment-friendly because it saves paper.”

As parents, you will never stop feeling the need to protect your kids. One of the most difficult parts of being a parent is learning how to let go.

Let your teenagers make mistakes. You show that you trust your teenagers and let them try something on their own, and you let your teenagers learn from experience. Since the saying is true that experience is the best teacher, letting your teenagers make mistakes can help them develop different kind of abilities.

When you let your teenagers make mistakes, it does not mean you are turning your back to them. It simply means that you are giving up some control over their life and allowing your teenagers to test the waters. It is the only way your teenagers will develop a sense of self and a level of independence to be successful adults.

When you let your teenagers make mistakes, it also means that you allow your teenagers to be less than perfect. It means allowing your teenagers to be human, to be imperfect. Let your teenagers know that it is OK to make mistakes and OK to try new things, even if they are not successful.

Since the other way that teenagers learn best is by example, be willing to allow yourself to make mistakes, too. If you let your teenagers make mistakes, it won't go over well if you are beating yourself up over making a mistake. Show your teenagers that you can forgive yourself, too, and your teenagers will be more likely to believe you when you forgive their mistakes as well.

Twenty first century teenagers live in a different world from the world we grow up in. They are born to know how to get information they need from the internet in no time. It's not as simple as it was, but that does not mean you cannot still raise thoughtful, kind, creative teenagers. You won't be able to protect them from everything, and it's OK to let your teenagers make mistakes, because what is really important is being there to help them learn from the mistakes they made and apply what they learned to become better people.
