Jun. 2001 CC-Link Open Fieldbus
A Newly-Approved SEMI Standard
In May of 2001, SEMI (Semiconductor Equipment and Materials
International, San Jose, CA, USA) approved CC-Link, an open
international fieldbus standard, as SEMI E54.12 - Specification for
Sensor/Actuator Network Communications for CC-Link. SEMI is an
organization of over 2,500 companies that establishes international
standards for the worldwide semiconductor and flat panel display
industries. The CC-Link standard (E54.12) can now be downloaded from
the SEMI web site (https://www.wendangku.net/doc/2e6237687.html,) and will also be available in July, 2001
on CD-ROM in conjunction with the SEMICON West 2001 international
exhibition.
CC-Link is designed to keep pace with changing technological and user
requirements. It provides superior reliability and highly deterministic data
and control transmissions, and it offers the highest possible network
availability through automatic network control redundancy. CC-Link's
extremely fast reaction times are due to an uncomplicated yet highly
effective protocol. Stringent conformance testing of compatible products
ensures device interoperability for CC-Link systems worldwide.
The SEMI E54 standard is intended to increase efficiency and
performance, and to reduce wiring and installation costs by standardizing
the network used in semiconductor manufacturing machinery. CC-Link is
in an excellent, high performance network to serve the worldwide
semiconductor manufacturing industry through its numerous support (CC-
Link Partner Association) branches across the globe.

CLPA's First Display at Overseas Exhibitions!
CC-Link Compatible Products is continually increasing!
Products of the partners have passed conformance tests one after another. There are 332 CC-Link compatible products as of the end of May.You can use the products worry-free since they are all submitted to the conformance tests model-by-model, i.e. noise test, hardware and software test, combination test, interoperability test and aging test.
For detailed information and inquiries on the products, please find "Product Information" on the Association home page.

To enhance "CC-Link" recognition, the CLPA displayed its products for the first time at three overseas exhibitions, which finished successfully. After the exhibitions, new partners registered through overseas offices, leading to the global increase of partners.
The CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA), headquartered in Nagoya City, Japan, has announced the establishment of 6 new overseas offices to provide global support for CLPA members. Mr.Takashi Sekiguchi, a professor emeritus of Yokohama National University and chairman of the CLPA, has announced that the following 6 new offices are in full operation as of May 2001:

We are a brainwork group aiming to be Japan's full-scaled Factory Automation network-dedicated maker in the FA industry. We are also a member of the Uni-wire group. Uni-wire is a leading-edge, sensor-level wiring-saving system that rapidly transmits sensor, actuator and other bit signals.
Making use of the experience gained in the development, sales, support and others of Uni-wire and inheriting the Uni-wire assets, we intend to develop the next-generation Uni-wire that is upward-compatible and faster, improve the support centers, and find new markets.
A CC-Link gateway is due for release in September. We expect it will lead to the sales promotion of CC-Link.

Now we are planning to supplement profiles and specifications of cables and connectors, gather various information on Safety Network and Ethernet, and examine future compatibility. The Technical Group is waiting for the opinions of the users. Please send E-mail to cc-link@post0.mind.ne.jp.
The Marketing Taskforce was established to diffuse CC-Link and support the promotional activities of CLPA.
As we had had two meetings, we have discussed sales promotional plans, the home page of CLPA, exhibitions to participate, and seminar to conduct. After a half year since the establishment of CLPA, we should discuss how we can support to diffuse CC-Link.
We are looking forward to hearing from the partners who have not participated in the Tascforce yet.
