One day, a professor entered the classroom and told the students he would give them a surprise test. Then the professor gave the test papers to all the students. After handing out the test papers to all the students, he asked them to turn the test papers over and begin.

William Butler Yeats, a famous Irish writer, was born in Dublin on June 13, 1865. He had an unhappy childhood. Later, Yeats shocked his firmly by saying that he remembered “Me of childhood but its pain”. In feet, he inherited (继承) excellent taste in art from his family — both his father and his brother were painters. But he finally Settled on literature, especially drama (戏剧) and poetry.

Yeats believed strongly in the coming of new artistic movements. He set himself the fresh task in founding an Irish national theater in the late 1890s. You probably know that you can do many of the things with the thousands of different muscles (肌肉) in your body. But have you ever thought about how the muscles in an animal’s body are differ ent from yours? An animal’s muscles are made to do the things that are the most important to its life.

Lions are hunters. They depend on their ability to catch other animals. Lions must be fast in order to catch their prey. The powerful muscles in their back legs allow them to run more than 30 miles per hour. They can also jump more than 35 feet. The strong muscles in their front legs help them catch their prey.

Snakes also use their muscles for hunting prey and for movement, but their muscles work in very different ways as lions do. Because snakes don’t have any legs, they use their muscles to push against the ground or other objects to move themselves forward. Their muscles also allow them to eat things that seem much too large.

The elephant’s long nose ha s a lot of muscles. Scientists believe that the nose alone has more than 100, 000 muscles! This is because the elephant uses its nose much in the same way that people use their hands and fingers. For example, an elephant can pick up a small leaf from the ground. An elephant can use its nose to pick up a tree by its roots or even to lift a baby elephant.

The great muscles of these animals seem unbelievable. But the muscles in your body work exactly the way you need them to. After all, it might be fun to be able to jump a distance of 30 feet, but as a human being, there is just not much need for it.

Just like your senses of sight, smell, or touch, a good sense of humor could save your life. It helps develop a special relationship with your friends. And it has even been shown to be good for your health. And humor can also tell you whether you’ve found your perfect partner.

To take a wider view of the power of humor in relationships, University of Kansas professor Jeffrey Hall surveyed the results of 39 related studies, and more than 15,000 men and ladies took part in this survey. After the survey, he found that when it comes to love, a “good sense of humor” means far more than being able to tell a good joke, or even being considered funny.

“It’s not about being a great comedian (喜剧演员), but finding what’s fu nny in everyday life and enjoying it togethe r,” Hall explains, “whether that’s the comedy The Simpsonsor repeating funny things your kids say. The most important thing is that you do it together. If you share a sense of what’s funn y, it improves your relationship through laughter.”

To this point, Hall shares another findin g: it’s important to laugh “with” your partner. If you have a very strong sense of humor, it will make your partner become the butt (笑柄) of too many jokes. As a result, it will break the magic of shared laughter and likely lead to hidden unhappiness deeper than any joke.
