第一节(满分15分)One possible version:

Dear friends,

As is known to all, our school is launching a campaign against bad habits in order to build a civilized campus. But I have noticed that a great many of bad behaviors still exist on our campus, which does great harm to the image of our school.

Therefore, I strongly suggest that we students stop throwing rubbish everywhere. Besides, no one should make dirty remarks or waste food. Such bad manners as smoking and fighting should also be removed from our campus. Meanwhile, we should conduct ourselves well at any time. We are also supposed to promote the spirit of helping each other.

Once again I’m here earnestly calling on everyone to take action and contribute to making our school a nicer place.

That’s all. Thank you!

第二节(满分25分)One possible version:

Jatin looked up and he saw the other boys rushing ahead.Refusing to give up at this crucial point, he jumped to his feet and ran as fast as he could. Finally, he was the fourth one to dash across the finish line. Jatin couldn’t help sobbing at the thought of letting his sister down. But m uch to his surprise, the runner who collided with him was disqualified for breaking the rule and Jatin won the third prize. Jatin felt overjoyed and relieved during the award ceremony, holding the shoes close to his chest.

Filled with pleasure, Jatin walked home in no time.On his arrival, Jatin found Neha was walking about outside nervously and anxiously. “Neha, see what I have got for you.” Jatin said excitedly, taking the prize out of his bag with his trembling hands. The instant Neha saw the shoes, her face lit up. So thrilled was she that she threw herself at Jatin. “Thank you! Jatin.” Tears of joy welled up in their eyes as the brother and the sister hugged tightly together.

M: Listen. Even though the trees are in your yard, some of the branches hang over into mine, and I’m getting tired of picking up all the branches that fall off during storms. And the walnuts off this tree damaged my lawnmower.

W: Still. You can’t cut off those branches.

M: Well, I check the law regarding this issue, and I’m well within my rights.

M: Oh, I want to stay for a while and read this new book I just bought. Have you ever heard of the author John Grisham? W: Yeah! He’s a lawyer who has written many books based on his knowledge of the legal system. His books give a lot of information on how the legal system works.

M: I like his books. His special sense of humor makes the characters very entertaining.

W: Yes. And he knows how to adapt his writing style to each situation. That is probably one of the reasons for his success. M: His success is an example of the importance of education. His mother put a lot of emphasis on his education.

W: Did you read all of his books?

M: No, I only read his legal fiction. I’m interested in learning about the legal system, and I hope to change my major from psychology to law.

W: You should have a try. Oh, it is almost 3 o’clock! My mother is going to wait for me at the school gate, so I need to go now. See you later!

Text 10

W: Some years ago, Andre found himself staring at the body of a dead whale on a beach in the Canary Islands. It was obvious that the animal had been struck violently by a ship. After surveying the whales which lived in the area and measuring the increase of sound pollution from ships, he found there was a link. The whales had become dull to the noise of approaching boats and were being struck by them. Andre has spent 20 years developing an advanced system to better understand why incidents like this happen. His underwater microphones have exposed a world of deafening sound.

What can be done? One solution is to change shipping routes to courses where ships are less likely to meet animals. It’s also possible to slow ships down to 18 kilometers per hour or less, which is less likely to seriously injure a whale.“The o cean is not our world,” comments Andre. But it is ours to 1ook after. And thanks to his work, we can better understand the effects of subsea sound pollution.
