Unit 3 Food and Drinks

A: Good evening, Madam. What can I do for you?

B: Sure, can you bring me the order?

A: Y es, I will be right with you. Here you are.

B: Thanks, Let’s see, what are your specials?

A: Y es. T oday’s specials are sea food soup with seasonal vegetable(时菜海鲜汤)and Beijing duck(北京烤鸭).

B: I like Beijing duck.

A: OK.

B: Do you have fish soup?

A: Sorry, they’re not available today. What about egg drop soup(紫菜蛋花汤)?B: That sounds nice. OK

A: Would you like something to drink?

B: Orange juice please.

A: Anything else?

B: That’s all. How much is that?

A: That’ll be 85 yuan.

B: Here is 100 yuan.

A: Here’s your change. Thanks for your business.

B: Thank you.

A: Enjoy your dinner!

Unit 5 Music

Talking about music

A: can you imagine a life without music?

B: it would be unbearable. The world would then be full of noises, but not music.

A: How is music different from noise?

B: Music generally has a pattern and sound quality which is pleasing to our ears while noises are only irritating(.惹人生氣的,使人不愉快的。).

A: By your definition, I think many kinds of music are actually noises, especially those loud forms of rock and roll

B: True. On the contrary, classical music is soft and lovely. It is always my favorite.

A: Some people think that classical music is too boring. What do you say to that?

B: I don't think so. Compared with most pop music, classical does take some time to be appreciated. But pop music is too simple.

A: What are your favorite pieces and composers?

B: Oh, there are too many to list. I'd say all the Nocturnes['nɑkt?n] (夜曲)by Chopin(肖邦),those of Haydn (海顿)and Liszt(李斯特).

A: Do you care for operas?

B: Y es, I do, very much.

A: Do you just listen to it or go to performances?

B: I prefer going to a performance. It has everything, color and great mus ic. A: What about pop music?

B: I quite like Mariah Carey(玛丽亚凯丽).She has a very good voice.

A: Yeah, she is my favorite too. And, I heard that the CD shop nearby just got her new pieces. I'm planning to go there recently. Would you like to come with me?

B: It's so kind of you ! No problem. And I'm going find some classical as well.

Unit 7 Fashion

A: Do you think I still fashionable in this dress?

B: I think so. How nice you look in blue. And blue is still fashionable at the moment.

A: Thank you for saying so. This style came out last year, though. I like the dress, but I'm not sure whether last year's fashions will be same this year.

B: I think this kind of dress will stay in fashion for a few more years. People don't change fashions every year. It would be too expensive.

A: Y es. Only the top designer try to tell people to change fashion every year, but only rich people can do it.

B: There are some real fashion victims流行受害者who just have to keep totally up-to-date with expensive clothes.

A: I wish I could be one of those people, but my budget simply doesn't stretch that far. I have to limit the amount of money I spend on clothes otherwise I would go on a shopping frenzy [?frenzi]n.疯狂,狂热,极度的激动.

B: I know what you mean. The situation will be worse if we marry our boyfriends and have children. Then we'll have even less money to spend on fashionable clothes!

Unit 9 Unusual Happenings

A: Oh, that's really surprising!

B: What happened?

A: Don’t you heard the news?

B: No. What is it?

A: The three famous tenors, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, and Jose Carreras will visit Beijing and give a concert.

B: Are you kidding?

A: Of course not.

B: Wow! How wonderful! It's quite something for them to sing together in China, isn't it'?

A: Y es. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the news. I wish I could go there and listen to their songs.

B: Y ou can enjoy their singing at my home.

A: Are you kidding?

B: No, I'm serious. I have the whole CD collection of their songs and a good stereo system. I bet you can get the full concert effect even at home.

A: Well, I have their songs too. But a live performance is different. The atmosphere, the enthusiasm of the crowds, and the communion between the singers and the audience. You can't get these at home.

B: That's true. I hope I can get to their concert.

Unit 11 Famous People

A: Who's that man in the picture?

B: Don't you know? Well, I'm not going to tell you, but you may ask me five questions to work out who he was.

A: That sounds fun! Y ou said "was". Do you mean he is no longer alive?

B: Y es. That's question 1.

A: OK. What was his nationality?

B: British.

A: When was he born and when did he die?

B: That's two questions.

A: Oh, come on.

B: All right. He was born in 1940 and died in 1980. Two more questions left. A: What did he do?

B: A singer and song writer.

A: What were his most famous songs?

B: One of the famous songs he wrote was "A Hard Day's Night". A: John Lennon, I bet.

What a happy talk. I’m grate that all of us will get further education here. Nations and Traditions Chen: Let’s talk about some different countries. good conversation 好的对话

Name: Rena Topic: Good Conversation Number: 1207071026 Date: Oct.20th, 2014 As the third quote says,‘the character of a man is known from his conversation.’Mostly, I do judge a man’s character by his words, expression and body language. In my opinion, a good conversation is not the exceptionally great deeds but they can tell that the person who possesses them is a man of highest standards. One’s conversation not onl y shows what kind of education he has received and what his social position is, but it also tends to show what his nature is.A good conversation shows your friends and partners or mostly people you meet the first time what a person you are.It reveals personal characteristics like if you are respectful, arrogant, or humble. Let us use the example of an interview. A company finds out a lot about you through the words you say, especially in oriental countries. How you behave is so crucial that sometimes they will decide on whether they will take you just based on your conversation. To learn a good conversation, one must first bear in mind that they arise from one’s daily behavio r—the words he uses in front of people. To be a man of a good conversation, he must be genuinely polite to others and show respect for others. Of course, rich knowledge is the foundation of a good conversation. 大英2英语口语测试题及答案

U1 TOPIC 1 Famous Universities 1.What kind of universities are good universities in your eyes? First of all, it should have a strong studying atmosphere. I hope students there can talk about their own opinions with freedom. Secondly, the teachers should be high standard and responsible. Then, the teaching equipment should be good, which will contribute to our study. 2.Do you think universities should try their best to provide their students with more scholarships? Why or why not? I don’t think more scholarships are necessary. Merit-based(基于优秀的;以业绩为基础的)scholarships, which are mainly awarded by universities, aim to encourage the students to learn more. It’s a motivation, or a reputation. Students who have financial problems could apply for need-based scholarships. So it’s not necessary for universities to provide more scholarships. 3.Which is more important in your college life, study or working experience? Why? In my opinion, we students should put study in the first place. Only by learning enough knowledge and skills now can we get a good job in the future. Our main task is to lay a solid(可靠的;坚实的) foundation for the future. So, it’s out of question that study is more important in college life. 4.If you had the opportunity to further your study in famous universities either at home or abroad, which would you choose? Why? T o be honest, I’d like to go abroad. First, I want to broaden my horizon. I have been dreaming about something quite different. Second, the academic atmosphere is freer abroad. Finally, I hope to meet more friends from all over the world. So, if possible, I’d like to go out to experience the study life there. 5.What is the aim for your college life?Explain. Above all, it’s beyond question that I want to acquire the knowledge and skills I expected. We can surely gain some working and even social experience. But they should not be our main aim. We should respect our university, the last place from where we get system education. So, my aim for college life is to learn as much as I can. 6.Do you think having a part-time job might affect your academic performance? Why or why not? Personally I think it will. It’s certain that taking a part-time job will occupy some study time. Study is not just doing homework. It requires many practices. Having a part-time job may affect our further study and our academic performance. Section Two Please have a group discussion on the following topic: What can make a university famous? Please give as many examples as possible. In my view, a famous university should have excellent teachers、tutors、professors and all of them and the managements should be responsible for their students. In addition the school should provide good facilities and enough support for the students, such as libraries, museums and scientific collections. U2 TOPIC 1 Jobs and Careers 1.What kind of jobs do you think will be the most popular in the future?
