The Ss have learned English for some years. They understand some words and simple sentences. They are curious, active, and fond of game, competition, and various activities. They enjoy learnin g through cooperation in a relaxing atmosphere. Part 3 Teaching methods

In this lesson, My teaching methods include

audio-visual teaching method, communicative teaching method, and task-based teaching metho ds. Besides, a computer, blackboard, a tape recorder, a projector are needed as the teaching aids. Part 4 Teaching procedures

There are five steps in my teaching procedures. But before teaching, I will divide the whole class i nto 4 groups to do competitions while finish different tasks in this lesson. Step 1 Warming-up an d leading in (3mins)

Free talk; talk something related the topic of the article. 参考活动:

Brainstorming, setting the scene, show pictures etc.

Purpose: activate the Ss to regard the topic of ___________________(主题) and create a relaxing atmosphere. Step 2 Pre-reading (10mins) There are 3 tasks for the Ss. D o a guessing game.

Show some funny pictures and sentences on PPT and then ask the Ss to Guess the meaning of th e new words. Practice the new words and phrases:

Match the new words and phrases with the Chinese meanings. Predicting: based on the title/ pic tures on the text. ( 看具体情况而定)

Purpose: through guessing, to arouse Ss learning interest, and help them to learn the new words and phrases which they may come across while reading, pave the way for the following learning a nd cultivate the ability of anticipating.

{Meanwhile, pronunciation of some letter strings such as “ea” (pea, tea, feast..) and “er” (c ucumber…) are highlighted so as to foster students’ phonetic sensitivity.} (如果有语音教学则可渗透。) Step 3 While- reading (15mins) There are two tasks for the Ss. first reading:

Ss read the article as quickly as they can and try to get the general idea by answer the following q uestions. Q1: who/ when/ what/ ………. second reading: pair-discussion

Ss read the article more carefully, and then discuss with their partners to finish the T/F exercises a nd fill in the table/blanks in the sentences. A : T/F

B: Fill in blanks.

Fill in the table, make an outline of the article, find the topic sentences of each paragraph, etc. Purpose: the two tasks are aim to develop Ss’ reading ability. Skimming for the main idea of the article, and scanning for the specific information. And then get a deep understanding of the articl

e. Step 4 Post-reading (10mins) 1)Group discussion: fill in the blanks

Ss discuss the article with their group members, and find out the language points, such as the key words, phrases, and sentence structures in the article.

And then fill in the blanks in a short passage present on the PPT. The short passage is made up fro m the article, and the answers are the language points in this lesson.

After check the answers, I will help the Ss to summarize the language points. 2)Retell:

Use the key word and phrases presented on the PPT to retell the article. Make a report——小组合作,反馈

Purpose: Through group work, cultivate the spirit of cooperation, and train the ability of solve pro blem by themselves. In class, the teacher is just a guide, while the Ss are the center, where, the te acher just join them, giving suggestions, and offering help when they need. Meanwhile, ask the S s to retell the article, is an output, and it can evaluates how well the Ss learned in this lesson. Ste p 5 Homework (2mins)

go to the library or search on the internet to get more extra material about this topic and then wr ite a report. Purpose: consolidate the language points and do prepare for the next lesson, and de velop the ability of writing. Part 5 Layout Title

III. Key Points and Difficult Points and why (教学重难点及依据)

The teaching key and difficult points’ basis is established according to Section A Read and Write of Unit 2 in the teaching material's position and function.Moreover students characteristics and n ew lesson standard should be also taken into account.

Key points:

(1)To make sure that Ss can use these key phrases correctly and skillfully. (2).To help the Ss to com municate with each other.

(3).To enable the Ss to study in groups and co-operate skillfully. (4).To develop the Ss’ interest in E nglish.

(5) To help the students to master the new expressions. (6) To enable the students to communica te with each other.

Difficult points:

Part Two Analysis of Students (说学情)

The students of grade5 are very active and curious.And they are interested in new things.They always like

to use imagination and communication as their main studying ways After learning English for 2 ye ars, they have some basic English background knowledge, so the teacher should attach importanc e to the communication with them, providing them the chances of using language. Since they hav e learnt English for 2 years, they have already known ___________________________________, so it is not difficult for them to understand and use the

Part Three Analysis of Teaching Methods and why (说教法及依据)

As we all know: the main instructional aims of learning English in primary school is to cultivate st udents’ basic abilities of listening and speaking and their good sense of the English language.Stud ents in primary school are very cruious and they want to know everything.What is more,it is impo rtant for the teachers to keep the

students interest in English .So according to these points and the regulation of children’s growing of mind,in this lesson I’ll mainly use

Part Four Analysis of Learning Methods and why (说学法及依据)

New Lesson Standard advocates to improve students abilities of analysing and solving proble ms.And teachers should change their old-fashioned teaching ways ,give students more opportuni ties to join class and let the students find the problems by themselves.Our students are almost fr om the countryside. As for the learning methods, they are poor in cooperative learning skills.Som e students are not active in the class ,and some students don’t like English.therefore, I ’ll have Ss s tudy in a relaxed atmosphere. Students understand the new knowledge in certain degree through the mental process of seeing, hearing, saying, observing, thinking etc. .After feeling and understa nding the language points, let students get the knowledge actively by probe study and cooperativ

e study. In a word,we’ll

1.Teach the Ss how to be successful language learners.

2. Make the students take an active part in class activities.

3.Let the students summarize the language points through their own thinking.

4.Let the Ss pass "Observation—Imitation—Practice "(观察—模仿—实践三步教学法) to study language.

5.Teach the Ss how to master dialogues and how to communicate with ot hers.

6. To make use of the new language material to express their own ideas.

Let the Ss communicate with each other and adopt competition methods to develop the Ss’ keen interest in English.

Step 1 Warming up (3 minutes)

This step will cost 3minutes.

Before my class , I’ll get the students to sing an English song "Old McDonald" to keep the stud ents relax . By this, the students can be interested in it and pay their attention to our class easily a nd improve their ability of speaking.And also this activity can begin this lesson with exciting atmo sphere.

Step 2 Greeting (2 minutes) This step will cost 2minutes Daily Talk

T: OK, good. So, Mike, how are you today ? S: Fine, thank you. How are you,my teac her? T: Very well, thanks .What is this? S:It is a….

The greeting between students and teacher is very usefull to build a harmonious and democratic class atmosphere.

Step 3 Presentation (24 minutes)

In this step, I will adopt four steps for the students to present the text. Firstly,Lead-in.

According to the characteristics of this class,I wear a sports T-shirt deliberately to show the t opic of this class.Also I will show the pictures of Yao Ming,Liu Xiang and so on.

Secondly,vocabulary teaching

In tis part,I will use material objects ,pictures ,expressions and actions to teach new words.W hen the students read new words,I ask them to read these new words with actions and expressio ns.Then we will play a guessing game and a searching game. The whole class will be divided into f our groups to have a competition.These activities can help students learn the new words faster a nd arouse their interest in learning English.Total Physical Response method is used in this step. Thirdly,new patterns teaching

According to the characteristics of the vocabulary and the material objects and pictures I hav e prepared,I will use Situation Hypothesis Method to teach new sentences.Let's suppose we are h aving P.E class,there are four types of sports,they are football,basketball,table tennis and morning exercise. And let students choose which sport is his or her favourite..Students should use the pat ters:I like…,I don't like….

Step 4 Practice and Consolidation (8 minutes)

In this step,firstly,I will ask several students to performe this dialogue.

Secondly,I will give students some similar situations to play and ask them to use the words an d patterns that we have learnt in this class.For example,…….As we all know,students in primary sc hool like to show their ability in every aspect,they like interesting things.So these activities can pr ovide the students a good chance to show themselves and it also can arouse the students interes t of learning English.An active class atmosphere can make students focus on class.

Step 5 Summary (6 minutes)

In this step,first I’ll divide the Ss into four groups and bring a competition into the class.Then I will ask the students what they have learnt in this class .Every student must join group disscussio n.After 3 minutes ,a student representative will be selected from each group to answer my questi on and I will give comments. At last let’s see which group is the winner.Doing these activities can give studnets more opportuities to join the class and consolidate the content of this class.What is more,these activities also can help studnets train their team spirit by working in groups.

Step 6 Homework (2 minutes)

In the end, I will show the assignment that is related to this class for the students to do at ho me.Also

I will ask the students to do a survey that is about _____________________________________.T his task can improve the students ability of communication and self-study .

Part6 Blackboard design

All the key words, phrases a nd sentences are listed on the blackboard.

Part 7 Reflection

In the process of teaching, I carry on task-based teaching method. I design ___tasks for the stude nts to complete. I try to make the lesson rich, effective, and instructive. But as we know, not all th e students are of the same level,a few of them may have difficulty in Task __-- _______________ _____________.. However, every coin has two sides. If all the activities are designed for the avera ge students, the quick learners will not improve their ability in such a class. I hope I can find out s ome multi-activities for students of different levels to solve this problem.

At last,I want to say to be a good English teacher is my dream, I think a teacher is not only a gu ide for the students, but also a friend of them. If I were a teacher, I would build a close relation wi th my students, helping them not only on their study, but also on their lives. 一、说教材(教材分析)Analyzing teaching material

Lesson 33 Saving the Earth is a dialogue. The lesson is focused on the topic of the problems of the earth and the functional items of Supposition/ Intentions/ conjecture/ Prohibition. Since it is a dialogue / reading. It’s helpful to improve the Ss communicative/ reading ability.

Damage, lecture, pollute, pollution, room, standing room, be fit for, hear about, turn into

b. Get the Ss to be familiar with this sentence pattern:

If the population keeps growing so quickly, there will only be standing room left…

Give the Ss a reinforced practice on the functional item Supposition.

c. Activate Ss schemata regarding the topic of pollution and help Ss to know more about the problem of pollution.

a. Ask the Ss to make up a similar dialogue.

b. Help them to understand the dialogue better and improve the four skills.

c. Develop their ability of thinking independently.

It can also make the Ss reach a better understanding of the text by making the classes lively and interesting. At the same time, it arouses the Ss’ interest in learning English.

Task-based learning: New Syllabus Design encourages teachers to use this teaching method. TBLT can sti mulate Ss’ initiative in learning and develop their ability in language application. Make the Ss the real masters in class while the teacher himself acts as the director and bring their ability into full play.

四、说教学过程Teaching procedures

I. 复习(Revision) 5min (Daily report; 词汇diagram; brainstorming; activate schemata)

Activity 1: Imagination

1). Suppose a bottle of ink is turned over and dirties your white shirt, what is to be done? (Wash it? Or throw it away?)

2). Suppose you catch a bad cold, what’s to be done?

3). Suppose your bike is broken, what’s to be done?

4). And suppose the earth, on which we all live, is damaged, what’s to be done?

* What can you think of when you see ―pollution‖ this word?(waste, environment, air, water, factory, desert, climate... Try to activate the Ss schemata regarding the topic of pollution.)

II. 呈现 (Presentation) 5min

Activity 2: Presentation

Play the song ―Earth Song‖ sung by Michael Jackson. (Create an atmosphere)

A lot of pictures and video clips about the causes and results of the three problems mentioned in this lesson will be shown on the screen with the help of the computer.

Ss’ presentation on pollution. Attract their attention, arouse their interest, and create a good atmosphere for communication.

* Activate their schemata and cultivate their ability in collecting information from the Internet and develop their ability in thinking independently.

2nd listening/ careful reading, more Qs to get the detailed information. Develop their reading skills: skim & scan. Pay attention to the pronunciation, stress & intonation.

Activity 10: Discussion

Think of the question: Are we causing damage to the world?

What should we do to save the earth and protect our environment especially in our daily life?
