Nowadays, it is a common phenomenon that an increasing number of high school students open their own blogs on the Internet. It’s widely acknowledged that doing so can bring both advantages and disadvantages.

On the one hand, it benefits students in certain ways. Not only can it provide a colorful platform to show their talent, but it is a way to release pressure from study. Besides, students can communicate with others through the blogs.

On the other hand, doing so can do great harm. To begin with, managing one’s blog takes much time and energy, which are supposed to be used to study. And as a result, students’ study will be enormously affected. What’s worse, if students focus too much on their blogs, they will gradually lose face-to-face communication skills.

I approve of this activity for the reason that it allows us to obtain various abilities. Blog itself is of little harm and it is your attitude towards it that matters.

W: Good morning. My name is Julie Hartwell, and I’m going to talk to you today about your firefighter training program. The program lasts for three months. During the time, you’ll learn about ladder safety and some equipment. The college has over two acres of grounds, where we can create real fires for students to practice on---under safe conditions, of course. We will learn how to fight fires on trains, fires in buildings and fires at petrol stations. This is a very important part of the course because it helps to get used to working in very hot, smoky places.
