Special issue title:

Swarm Intelligence in Image and Video Processing

Guest Editors:

Dr. Jing Tian (Institute for Infocomm Research, Singapore)

Prof. Li Chen (Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China)

Aim and Scope

Swarm intelligence studies collective behaviors in biological systems that consist of a population of individuals that interact with one another, as well as with their environment. Various algorithms have been developed to model such swarm systems, including ant colonies, schools of fish, colonies of honey bees, and so on. Image and video processing is a very important research area due to the rapid development of image sensors and visual communication techniques. Inspirations from swarm intelligence have been used in recent years to address challenging real-world image and video processing problems. There are a number of critical issues regarding the modeling of swarm evolutionary systems, the formulation of image and video processing problems, the design of efficient optimization algorithms, and so on.

This special issue aims to provide a collection of high quality research articles that address the broad challenges in both theoretical and application aspects of swarm intelligence in image and video processing. This special issue could inspire more researchers endeavoring on this fascinating interdisciplinary area on swarm intelligence in image/video processing.

Submission format

Papers will be evaluated based on their originality, presentation, relevance and novelty, as well as their suitability to the special issue, and for their overall quality. The submitted papers must be written in excellent English and describe original research which has not been published nor currently under review by other journals or conferences. Previously published conference papers should be clearly identified by the authors (at the submission stage) and an explanation should be provided how such papers have been extended to be considered for this special issue. Guest editors will make an initial determination of the suitability and scope of all submissions. Papers that either lack originality, clarity in presentation or fall outside the scope of the special issue will not be sent for review and the authors will be promptly informed in such cases. All submitted papers will be strictly peer-reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. Author guidelines for preparation of manuscript can be found at https://www.wendangku.net/doc/45279915.html,/locate/asoc.
