I have rested for a week. I began to feel bored. So I went out with my friends. They are my best friends in the middle school. We didn’t go to someplace special. We just saw the other. We had lunch together. While we were having lunch, we were still talking about the new school and new friends. Yes! A year later, we have grown riper. And we learned much more things and got new life. We haven’t enough time to play, to waste and to lose the way. We only have two years. Two years to go, we will get the real life which belongs to us.

三，SPRING FESTIV AL

The Spring Festival is the most important festival for the Chinese people and is when all family members get together, just like Christmas in the West. All people living away from home go back, becoming the busiest time

for transportation systems of about half a month from the Spring Festival. Dumpling is a traditional Chinese food. On the lunar New Year' s Day, most families make a lot of delicious dumplings. To make them, follow this easy process.

The first step is to mix the flour with water. When the dough is ready, we can begin to make dumpling wrappers. We use a rolling pole to roll the dough into small, thin and round pieces so that they will be easy to cook. When the wrappers are done, it' s time to prepare the filling. Usually, we use meat such as beef or mutton, and some vegetables such as cabbage or carrots for filling. You may actually choose whatever you like to put into it. We must chop those things into small pieces. Then put some salt, oil and other condiments into it and stir it evenly. When all these preparations are done, we can start making dumplings. First put a spoonful of filling in the center

of the wrapper. Then stick the two opposite sides together and then the rest. Don' t just cover the filling with the wrappers. The best shape of dumplings is that of a ship, because when they are boiling in the pan, they look like ships sailing in the sea. The smell can make your mouth water.

四．THE COLD DAY

With industries and business developing quickly, the number of trees in many big cities has dramatically reduces. Efforts are being made to prevent people from cutting more trees. But a lot of trees are being destroyed by people who have never thought of the importance of green plants.

Making cities greener has many advantages. First, it can make our air cleaner. Some researchers have proved that trees can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere through absorption. Second, it can make our cities more beautiful. With trees and flowers everywhere, living conditions can be improved. Finally, it can produce

timber----an effective way to solve the problems of limited supply of natural resources.

Making our cities greener requires nationwide efforts. People in every field should not only know about the importance of keeping the quality of urban environment, but also take common action to plant more trees and flowers so as to improve our living conditions. 五．A SPECIAL DAY

Today I go to shopping with my friend. When we are walking in the street, a girl comes to us, and says to us: Could you help me? We feel amazed. Then the girl tells us she was walking with her mother just before, but she does not know where is her mother now. She looks like very anxious, and wears tear in her eyes. So we believe she at last. Besides, we lend her ten yuan to take a tax to home. We feel so good, because we can help someone. But a unacceptable matter is happen at last. When we are ready go back home, come out from a shop, we see a girl whom we meet before are saying the same word to another people.

二．My Spring Festival

My Spring Festival was great. Before the Chinese New Year, my families were all going to my grandparents’. Many of my relatives there we re playing all the night. At night, we set off firecrackers. The voice was very loud, cars parked far from us were sounding. Maybe they feared the voice too.

The first day of the Chinese New Year, we all got up early. We said “Happy New Year!” or “Good lu ck this year!” to each other and get money from them. We visited our relatives all day. That made me feel very tired but very happy because I also can get money.

The second day of the New Year, I slept during the morning. In the afternoon, I went to the beautiful countryside, and visited the Yi River, it is very wide, about 1 kilometer.

Next day, we left m y grandparents’ home . The expressway had been frozen. It was terrible! So we could only run by at a slow speed.

This festival was great, I love Spring Festival!

写英文日记，时态会是个问题。对此，有的人嗤之以鼻，认为这还不简单，用过去式呗！听这话，就知道此人没有写过英文日记，只是想当然而已。很多的英文老师也是这么说的，因为他们虽然动员学生写英文日记，但自己可能从来都没有认认真真地写过英文日记。我之所以相信这是个典型的问题，是因为我常年记英文日记、帮别人修改英文日记。最关键的是，英语是母语的人也提出了日记中时态的问题。 有人认为写日记要用现在时，因为叙述故事就是用现在时的。可是日记毕竟不同于故事。故事很有趣，但有多少人会对如陈年流水账似的日记感兴趣呢？有人说既然日记上已经载有日期，没有必要用过去时，还不如用现在时方便些。不错，用现在时写起来是方便。但读起来就不方便了。我们写英文日记的主要目的还是学习 写能够给别人看的英文，所以我们的日记最好是reader-friendly，什么时候的事情就用什么样的时态。当然，如果我们想把日记写成引人入胜的故事，就没有理由不用现在时了。 还有人说当然用过去时，因为日记记的都是过去的事情。可是日记记的未必全是过去的事情。比如说，我们晚饭后冒着严寒坐在台灯前写当天的日记，想写“今天天气很冷”这句话，如果写“It was very cold today”，就表明天冷的事情已经过去了，这好像与事实不符。另外，我们想写：“今天我看中央电视台得到一个好消息，中国将在今年12 月举办动漫博览会。我感到很高兴，因为我将来会在动漫行业发展。”看电视的事情是过去的事情，但因为影响一直延续到写日记时而且会继续，所以，不适合用过去时。前面这段话可以这么写：“Today, I’ve got good news from CCTV that China is hosting the World Animation & Comic Expo in December this year. I feel happy about this because my future career will be in the area。”这样简单的一件事中，用了现在完成时、表示将来的现在进行时、一般现在时和一般将来时四种时态，就是没有用到过去时。 可见，英文日记的时态并不是一般现在时和一般过去时二者选其一的问题。二战中犹太少女安妮? 弗兰克(Anne Frank)所写的The Diary of Anne Frank(《安妮日记》)便包括了英语中的所有时态(虽然她的日记是用荷兰语写成的，但在时态的使用上可以与英语类比)。 在写英文日记的时候，不仅要考虑用什么时态，还要经常在不同的时态中切换。在日记中，我们记下的不仅有一天的经历(experiences)，而且有当日的思想(thoughts)。有的时候以经历为主，有的时候以思想为主，有的时候则是经历和思 想交替。一般来说，经历适合用过去时，思想适合用现在时。为了让读者清楚地分辨我们的经历和思想，就必须及时在过去时和现在时之间进行切换。这种切换不难，但是如果对时态的概念本来就不清楚，就会觉得很麻烦。
