Conversation Class Assignment 2
Be prepared to have a 1-on-1, face-to-face conversation with Teacher Wayne in class. The conversation will last approximately 3 to 4 minutes.
Due Date: Monday, November 3
Purposes:
1.Show skill and fluency in conversational English.
2.Show that you understand how to use new words and expressions taught in class. Here are the rules for the conversation:
1.Be prepared to use greetings and farewells we learned in class.
?Don’t repeat the greeting the teacher uses.
?Don’t use “I’m fine. And you?”
2.Be prepared to not only answer questions, but also ask questions.
?Reply to negative questions correctly –more than just “Yes” or “No”
?Ask open-ended questions
?Follow-up a closed ended question with an open-ended question
3.M ake sure you can pronounce “TH” correctly
?Unvoiced TH
?Voiced TH
4.When presented with a written sentence by the teacher, be prepared to say the
sentence clearly and smoothly, using connected speech.
Notes:
Remember, it’s much better to speak slowly and smoothly rather than fast. You don’t get ext ra points for speaking fast! And speaking more slowly helps you feel less nervous. So I recommend that you keep reminding yourself to speak more slowly.
