Teaching Aims:
1. Ss learn and master expressions about sports games, such as skiing, boxing, wresting, etc.
2. Ss learn such new words as iron brace, notion, dash, baton, triumph.
3. Train S s’ ability of prediction, skimming and scanning during the text.
4. Encourage Ss to learn the sports spirit from Wilma Rudolph and never give up in their study.

Step 1 W arming-up
1. Free talk:

2. Look and guess
T: Please look at the following pictures and try to speak out what kind of sports they are.
Y ou can speak out the English expressions about these sports games. Those can gain one score for your group for each correct answer.

3. Read.
T: Please read the new words together and try to recite them.
