?学习提示

回顾:上节课我们学习了一个小故事,讲述的是一个小城镇最近发生了一些奇怪的事情。有哪位同学能给大家再复述一下这个小故事里面的一些内容吗?注意可以使用一些我们上节课学过的表达猜测或是推测的句型。然后,出示这个故事的相关图片和短语,使同学们的复述更容易、更顺畅。

【学法指导】

?对不同时态的推测

情态动词可以表示说话的语气。本单元主要学习情态动词must,can/could,may/might表示推测的用法。表示推测时,要根据肯定、否定或疑问的不同句式选用不同的情态动词。

“情态动词+do sth.”表示对现在事情的推测;“情态动词+be doing sth.”表示对正在发生的事情的推测;“情态动词+have done sth.”表示对过去或已完成事情的推测。

情态动词表推测的区别:

(1)肯定推测

a.must用于肯定句,表示较有把握的推测,意为“准是,一定”,后面接动词原形,表示对现在的推测。

b.may用在肯定句中,表示对现在把握不大的推测,意为“也许,可能”。

c.could,might也可表示推测,常用在过去时中;但在某些场合下,为了使语气更缓和、更委婉,常用could,might代替can,may。

d.can用在肯定句中,表示理论上的可能性。

Peter may/might have been hurt in the car accident.彼得可能在车祸中受了伤。

(1)要求学生朗读并翻译P60:Grammar Focus表格中的句子,并在情态动词下画线,并说出它们分别代表什么意思。

(2)否定推测

a.表否定推测时,can't/couldn’t语气最强,指“不可能”,带有惊异、怀疑的感情色彩。

b.语气不很肯定时,常用may not或might not表否定推测,意为“可能不,也许不”。
