Application of Ansys finite element analysis in artificial foot design

Abstract : Ansys finite element analysis is used to simulate 3D model of artificial foot in loading state, so as to improve the

design of the artificial foot. Two artificial foot models of steel and aluminium alloy are used to simulate the distortion and stress of the foot at two important points during a normal walking gait cycle, i.e., heel contact and toe off. The analysis results show that the artificial foot of steel or aluminium alloy alone in this 3D model lacks of sufficient safety, and aluminium alloy fails to satisfy the requirement of strength under some utmost circumstances. The results of stress can be used to check the intensity; According to energy equation, in this 3D model, the energy in toe off is greater than in heel contact, and it is greater in

aluminium alloy than in steel; The stress concentration point of the foot can be easily found with Ansys finite element analysis for foot design improvements.

摘要:为改进假脚模型的设计,用Ansys 有限元分析软件对假脚三维模型进行加载模拟。采用钢和硬铝合金两种材料的假

脚模型,模拟人正常行走时足跟着地和足尖即将离地时脚板的变形与受力情况。Ansys 分析结果显示,在此种假脚结构下,单纯用钢或铝合金来制作假脚安全系数不高,特别是铝合金的强度达不到极限情况下的要求。提示:①利用Ansys 有限元分析得到的应力结果可进行强度校验。②利用Ansys 分析得到的数值, 根据能量方程,得知此模型中,脚尖离地时的储能大于脚跟着地时的储能, 硬铝合金结构的储能大于钢结构的储能。③利用Ansys 有限元分析可以方便地找到假脚模型的应力集中区域,以指导设计的改进。
