Using a computer everyday can have more negative than positive effects on children

Using a computer everyday can have more negative than positive effects on children. Do you agree or disagree.

It is true that the computer is becoming increasingly popular among children. Many people question the effect of using a computer on children. While some people believe the drawbacks outweigh its advantages, I have to support that the ability of using a computer would contribute directly to children’s future. The bases for my views are short- term and long-term.

From a short-term point of view, by using a computer, children could study more effectively. A relevant example would be the distance education, the educational method by internet, which offers a plethora of educational resources, be it professional teachers or peers, practical tips or exam-oriented materials, to those children who tend to use computers. This convenience inevitably is constructive to children’s academic performance and the promotion in academic performance could build children’s confidence and ability, which are both beneficial to their future.

From a long-term perspective, using computers is becoming a necessary ability for individuals. In fact, along with the fast development and

spread of electronic business, almost all kinds of works are being handled by computers now. No wonder many companies take the ability of computer skills as the elementary requirement when recruiting. It is not uncommon to see that graduates with a higher computer-operation level typically find a decent job easily. In this sense, encouraging children to use a computer has its justification.

In conclusion, it is obvious that the computer is a part of people’s life. Using computers benefits children’s school work in a short-term and helps their career in a long-term. On balance, I believe that using a computer is conducive to children’s future significantly.
