Gift giving is different in different countries. Here are some introductions in some countries.

In America, expensive gifts are not right. Instead it is appropriate (适当的) for you to take your friend who you want to thank to dinner or sporting event.

Australia is known for its friendliness. So gifts, such as a business diary, or a coffee cup might be appropriate in a business meeting. Anything more expensive than these kinds of gifts could cause embarrassment.

The most common form of showing appreciation in Greece is probably an evening's entertainment. If you do present a gift, avoid personal things, such as ties and shirts. If you are invited to a Greek home, flowers or a cake for the hostess are an appropriate gift.

When you are invited to a person's home for dinner in Italy, It might be nice to bring flowers or a box of chocolates for your hostess.

Gift giving is popular in Germany and flowers are often given as gifts. But if flowers are taken to a hostess of a dinner party at her home, you mustn't take red roses because red roses mean you love her. An even number of flowers such as 2, 4, 6, 8 means bad luck, but the number is appropriate like 5, 7, 9 or 11. If you come from a foreign country, gifts that reflect your home country are popular, when you visit a German home, and you might want to bring small gifts for the children of the family you are visiting.

What is inside my head?

Your head houses the most valuable part of your body--- your brain. As you are reading, your eyes send pictures to your brain which makes meaning from what you see. Your brain helps you to remember and think, and makes sure your body is doing what it should.

What is my skin for?

Your skin covers your body. In most parts of your body, the skin is just as thick as half a centimeter. If you have your skin cut, it will have a quick cure and stop viruses from getting into your body. Your skin also helps you feel the heat and coldness of the environment around you. Hair grows from inside the skin. When you feel hot, extra heat comes out through your skin. As a result, your body temperature drops.

How do I move?

Muscles(肌肉) are found in most parts of your body. They work with your bones to help you move--- whenever you cry or smile, eat or speak, walk or dance, etc.

Why do I breathe?

Your body needs to take in oxygen(氧气) from the air and give out the unwanted carbon dioxide(二氧化碳) in the body. When you breathe, air comes through your nose and mouth into your lungs(肺) where oxygen dioxide in the body.

What makes me sneeze( 打喷嚏)?

When dust or strong smell gets into your nose, you sneeze. This is the way your body cleans up the dust in your nose. Your lungs push out the air and try to clear your nose.

What does my heart do?

Your heart is a very special muscle. It is a little bigger than your fist(拳头) and grows bigger as you do. If you place your hand on your heart, you will feel your heart beating which makes blood to move around your body.
