(Vocabulary):

Ohhhhh”.

**Point of View Mini-Storys.:

**Commentaries(评注)

Effortless English

重读音节从音高和音强上应该big, strong, important loudly,非重读音节(弱读)就应该是weak or small or quiet。

Autumn Sunset We had a remarkable sunset one day last November. I was walking in a meadow, the source of a small brook, when the sun at last, just before setting, after a cold gray day, reached a clear stratum in the horizon, and the softest, brightest morning sunlight fell on the dry grass and on the stems of the trees in the opposite horizon, and on the leaves of the shrub-oaks on the hill-si de, while our shadows stretched long over the meadow eastward, as if we were the only motes in its beams. It was such a light as we could not have imagined a moment be fore, and the air also was so warm and serene that nothing wanted to make a paradise of that meadow. When we reflected that this was not a solitary phenomenon, never to happe n again, but that it would happen forever and ever an infinite number of evenings, and cheer and reassure the latest child that walked there, it was more glorious still. The sun sets on some retired meadow, where no house is visible, with all the glory and splendor that it lavishes on cities, and, perchance, as it has never set before, --where there is but a solitary marsh-hawk to have his wings gilded by it, or only a masques lookout from his cabin, and there is some little black-veined brook in the midst of the marsh, just beginning to meander, winding slowly round a decaying stump. We walked in so pure and bright a light, gildi ng t he withered grass and leaves, so softly and serenely bright, I thought I had never bathed in such a golden flood, without a ripple or a murmur to it. The west side of ev ery wood and rising ground gleamed like a boundary of Ely-sium, and the sun on our backs seemed like a gentle herdsman driving us home at evening. So we saunter toward the Holy Land, till one day the sun shall shine more brightly than ever he has don e, shall perchance shine into our minds and hearts, and light up our whole lives with a great awakening light, as warm and serene and golden as on a bank-side in autumn.

Sta nd?up. Not ?at?all. Put?it?o n, please. Please pick?it?up. I' m?an?E nglish boy. It?is?an?old book. Let me have?a look?at?it. Ms Black worked in ?an?office. I called you half ?an?hour?ago. 女口: far?away Here?is a letter for you. Here?are four?eggs. Where?is my cup? Where?are your brother ?a nd sister? They're my father ?and mother. I looked for ?it here?and there. There?is a football un der ?it. There?are some books on the desk. Is?it a hat or?a cat?(hat与or之间不可以连读) There?is?a good book in my desk. (book 与in 之间不可以连读) Can you speak?English or French? (English 与or 之间不可以连读) Shall we meet at?eight or ten tomorrow morning? (meet 与at eight 与or 之间不可以连读) She opened the door and walked?in. Go w away. How w and why did you come here? The question is too w easy for him to answer. I j am Chin ese.

I’m~an~English boy. It~is~an~old book. Let me have~a look~at~it. Ms Black worked in~an~office last~yesterday. I called~you half~an~hour~ago. Put~it~on, please. Not~at~all. Please pick~it~up. They’re my father~and mother. I looked for~it here~and there. There~is a football under~it.

There~are some books on the desk. Here~is a letter for you. Here~are four~eggs. But where~is my cup? Where~are your brother~and sister? The black clouds are coming nearer and nearer.(nearer与and不可连读)(3)“辅音+半元音”型连读 英语语音中的/j/和/w/是半元音,如果前一个词是以辅音结尾,后一个词是以半元音,特别是/j/开头,此时也要连读。 Thank~you. Nice to meet~you. Did~you get there late~again? Would~you like~a cup~of tea? Could~you help me, please? “音的同化” —常把/d/+/j/读成/dV/,did you听上成了/dIdVu/,would you成了/wudVu/,could you成了/kudVu/。 I~am Chinese. He~is very friendly to me.

例如: some/s m/→/s m/→/sm/,have/h v/→/h v/→/v/;were/w:/→/w/,must/m st/→/m st,m s/→/mst,ms/;do/du:/→/d/→/du/→/d/,and/nd/→/nd,n/→/n/;of/v/→/v/→/v/,them/m/→/m/→/m/;we/wi:/→/wi/等。 例如:read i (t/ri:dit/,brush u (p/br p/。

如:put i (t o (n可读成/pu-ti-t n/。 如:do it/du-it/,he ate some/hiets m/,轻轻地滑到下一个元音上。 例如:there is/riz/,forever/f:rev/。 如:idea of it/aidi r vit/,the sofa over there/s uf r uv-/。 如: a)Shall I tell him to come and see.you?

Liberal Education makes not the Christian, not the Catholic, but the gentleman. It is well to be a gentleman, it is well to have a cultivated intellect, a delicate taste, a candid, equitable, dispassionate mind, a noble and courteous bearing in the conduct of life—these are the connatural qualities of a large knowledge;they are the objects of a University.I am advocating, I shall illustrate and insist upon them;but still, I repeat, they are no guarantee for sanctity or even for conscientiousness, and they may attach to the man of the world, to the profligate,to the heartless, pleasant, alas, and attractive as he shows when decked out in them.Taken by themselves, they do but seem to be what they are not;they look like virtue at a distance, but they are detected by close observers, and in the long run;and hence it is that they are popularly accused of pretense and hypocrisy, not, I repeat, from

Despite some sniffiness in the French press, some younger French are expressing their excitement that they will finally be able to visit the kind of cafe they love to watch on the US TV series Friends. In fact, for some, it is an exotic rarity, far more exciting than the average French cafe. Melissa, aged 18, says she can hardly wait: "I love Starbucks caramel coffee - it's very good and I like the concept that they're opening in Paris. I think Starbucks will be OK for French people." An American tourist is equally excited when she spots the sign - this could be just the thing to help her get over the occasional twinge of homesickness. "I love the French cafes, but Starbucks is so popular in the States and it's become part of American culture and now it's come to France, and that's OK," she said.

这个句子中takealookatit是同一个意群,那么take与a可连读,look与at可连读,at与it 可连读。 如: Heisastudent.(is与a要连读) Thatisarightanswer.(That与is,is和a,right和answer都可以连读) Illbebackinhalfanhour.(back和in,half和an,an与hour都可以连读)。 2. hiErEnd`TZE/。 像sixths/siksz/这样四个辅音的连缀却比较少。

Genetically Modified Foods—Feed the World? If you want to spark a heated debate at a dinner party, bring up the topic of genetically modified foods. For many people, the concept of genetically altered, high-tech crop production raises all kinds of environmental, health, safety and ethical questions. Particularly in countries with long agrarian traditions— and vocal green lobbies— the idea seems against nature. In fact, genetically modified foods are already very much a part of our lives. A third of the corn and more than half the soybeans and cotton grown in the US last year were the product of biotechnology, according to the Department of Agriculture. More than 65 million acres of genetically modified crops will be planted in the US this year. The genetic is out of the bottle. The issue is simple and urgent: Do the benefits of biotech outweigh the risks? The statistics on population growth and hunger are disturbing. Last year the world’s population reached 6 billion.

/或/i/体现。 /, some /s ? m/; who /hu,u/ my /mi/ 。
