Every year mobile phones develop. Imagining what they will look like and be able to do in 2020 is really a challenge. To help, experts have outlined three major mobile trends that they believe will have become reality by then.

Our phones will be so smart in 10 years’ time that they’ll know everything about our situation and warn us when something needs our attention. This is the top prediction of both Nokia and Google. They predict that our cars and home appliances will be able to communicate with our mobile. For example, fridges will tell your mobile to tell you to pick up milk on the way back from work. While driving, your mobile will suggest that you take a different route because there’s a road accident up ahead.

The second trend is in gesture-based controls. People who know the iPhone’s touch—sensitive screen are already familiar with the technology. It translates hand movements into actions on-screen. But gestural communications will make the phone more convenient to use and may completely replace touchpads. According to industry insiders, the most immediate step forw ard in gestural technology will be in voice recognition. It’s believed voice recognition technology will speed up communications. It is quicker to speak than type. Eventually, phone screens will disappear.

The third major development will change our understanding of a mobile phone. From a single phone, the mobile will be developed into multi-part devices. It is opposite to the current trend in which mobile phones are combining the functions of cameras, music players and game consoles. The prediction is based on the idea that the world will become more wireless and all these—cameras, music players and game consoles—will be wirelessly connected. Mobile phones won’t need to contain these devices because users will be able to control them wirelessly through their phones.

25. Which of the following is most likely to be the appearance of a mobile phone in 2020?

26. From the text, we can learn that the future mobile phones will ____________.

A. drive cars for us

B. be controlled by home appliances

C. be controlled by the users’ voices

D. be very big together with separated multiple parts

27. The writer’s attitude towards the development of mobile phone is _______.

A. worried

B. concerned

C. positive

D. nervous

America has long been a heaven for immigrants from around the world. Until the 19th century, the majority of immigrants were from northern Europe. By the mid-20th century, they were coming from all over the world. In recent years, scores of refugees (难民) from Southeast Asia and Latin America have fled to American shores to find a place where human rights are respected.

The American idea of respecting human rights came from several sources. First, the colonists had been treated in a cruel way. They realized that people’s rights must be preserved. Moreover, the Bible and ancient Greek and Roman literature taught that people are born with equal rights. English writer John Locke emphasized that governments should protect these rights. As a result, the Declaration of Independence reflected the belief that God created all people equal. The US Constitution included 10 changes to guarantee the basic rights of citizens. This Bill of Rights promised freedom of religion, freedom of speech and of the press, the right to bear arms and the right to a fair trial.

Throughout American history, the belief in individual human rights has influenced government policies and laws. Slavery opponents argued that even slaves had rights as human beings. Finally, after the Civil War, slavery became illegal. Even today, US trade relations with other countries depend on whether they have a positive human rights record.

Human rights have become a global concern. The United Nations was established in 1945 with a belief in the basic human rights of all people. Three years later, the UN adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This document stated that“all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”.

Most nations in the world today would agree that human beings have basic rights. Of course, different countries have different attitudes towards the issue. But to Americans, no matter how you define the issue, people deserve to be treated like people.

Everyone can experience anger sometimes, but not everyone can control it properly. To some people, controlling anger seems like the hardest thing in the world to do.

When it comes to anger control, there are lots of tools and things that you can do. The fi rst technique you can use is to recognize stress when it occurs. This is extremely important as you need to understand what causes this pressure and attempt to reduce this stress before it transforms quickly into anger.

Developing empathy (移情) is another anger control skill you can learn. You can teach yourself how to reduce or eliminate (消除)anger completely by seeing things from other people’s perspective.

You need to learn how to respond to situations rather than react. Think about your response and calmly approach this rather than reacting suddenly when stress and pressure are triggered. When you experience unwanted feelings, control these by talking to yourself in your own mind and enable yourself to deal with those feelings effectively before acting on them. By talking it over in your own head you can work out how you will best deal with the situation instead of acting on impulse (冲动), which can be destructive.

Anger control can also be achieved with the skill of being able to communicate with others with honesty. You can effectively train yourself to respond to situations without getting annoyed about things.

These feelings can quite regularly be set off by a difference in what we expect and what actually get in life. Often if things do not go our way or we feel we have been harshly treated, we will find it hard to control our anger. If you adjust your expectations, then you should be able to handle difficult situations and cope with them much better.

Finally it is vitally important to step back and think about things that are happening rather than acting too quickly. It can sometimes be very hard not to wade in (介入)and start acting before thinking about things first.

Therefore, it is important to remember that everyone has the capacity to lose their temper and controlling it is the real challenge.
