英语应用能力A、B级考试翻译题型探析 [摘要]本文从高职高专学生英语应用能力考试的考核目标出发,对传统翻译题型和A、B级翻译题型的利弊进行了分析,并测评了A、B级翻译题型的教与学效果。在实践中,笔者对不同层次的教学对象采用了灵活多样的翻译题型。通过尝试和比较,提出了在语境完整的一段英文中,抽取其中几个典型句子作为英译汉最具挑战性,更能达到考核学生综合能力和提高学生灵活运用能力的目的。 [关键词]A、B级考试翻译效果实践能力 一、前言 全国高等学校英语应用能力考试(PRETCO)简称英语应用能力考试,分为A、B两个级别,能力要求相当于大学英语三级水平,B级为高职高专学生应达到的最低标准要求,B级标准略低于A级,是过渡性要求。A、B级考试根据我国高职院校英语教学的实际和发展的需要,贯彻“实用为主,够用为度”的方针,在同一基础上设置两个级别的考试,既考查学生必备的英语语言基础知识,也测试与涉外业务有关的内容。由于A、B级注重基础的语法结构和应用能力,在难易程度和词汇量等方面有别于本科院校的四、六考试,因此,激发了学生学习英语的兴趣和主动性。 从2000年英语等级考试制度改革后的A、B级考试情况和平常的教学效果来看,笔者认为翻译题型存在一定的束缚性,值得商讨。虽然出题形式改变,但教与学效果不理想,有待于我们总结分析,找出一种更好的题型来测评和提高学生的运用能力。 二、翻译题型分析 翻译题型的变化从一个侧面体现出随着语言测试的发展,更加突出了对考生应用能力的检测。语言测试和评估的发展总趋势,在语言理论上将从重形式转向重语言运用;从测试个别技能转向测试多项技能;从孤立测试语言技能转向几种技能混合测试;从客观题一统天下转向主观题大量增加,语言测试更加以人为本(人性化)。 1.传统翻译题型
