第一部分前言

根据国家教育部高等教育司颁发的《高职高专教育英语课程教学基本要求》,结合学院的实际,由基础教学部《大学英语》教学团队编写了《大学英语》课程标准。本课程为通识课必修课程,依据高职高专人才培养目标,本课程标准围绕课程定位、主要任务、课程目标、课程内容和能力要求、教学实施、考核评价等主要方面作了规定,以便任课教师在教学过程中参照标准组织课堂教学,规范教学行为。

一、课程性质与任务

《大学英语》课程教学服务于学生开拓国际化视野、提升学历层次、适应社会各行各业对高端技能型人才需要,是为实现各专业人才培养目标服务的公共必修课。本着“以实用为主,够用为度”的原则设计教学内容,明确教学目的,使学生掌握一定的英语基础知识,具备一定的听、说、读、写、译的技能,能借助词典等工具阅读和翻译与本专业相关的英语业务资料,在涉外交际的日常活动和业务活动中进行简单的书面交流沟通,并为今后进一步提高英语的交际能力、获得更高的职业竞争力打下基础。同时,通过一个学年的系统教学活动,帮助大学生顺利通过(PRETCO)全国高等学校英语应用能力考试。

二、课程设置的依据、内容及思路

1.课程设置的依据

本课程是根据国家教育部高等教育司颁发的《高职高专教育英语课程教学基本要求》(以下简称《基本要求》),按照高职人才培养方案,围绕提升大学生人文素养而设置的一门通识必修课。

2.课程的主要内容

本课程遵循教师主导作用和学生主体地位的教学规律,坚持以就业为导向、以能力培养为中心的教育理念,以提高学生的综合素质和职业能力为目标,经过认真梳理,精心设计了课程教学内容和要求:

一是词汇。认知3400个英语单词(包括入学时要求掌握的1600个词)以及由这些词构成的常用词组,对其中3000个左右的单词能正确拼写,英汉互译。

学生还应结合专业英语学习,认知400个专业英语词汇。

二是语法。掌握基本的英语语法规则,在听、说、读、写、译中能正确运用所学语法知识。

三是听力。A级:能听懂日常和涉外业务活动中使用的结构简单、发音清楚、语速较慢(每分钟120词左右)的英语对话和不太复杂的陈述,理解基本正确。B级:能听懂涉及日常交际的结构简单、发音清楚、语速缓慢(每分钟110词左右)的英语简短对话和陈述,理解基本正确。

四是口语。A级:能用英语进行一般的课堂交际,并能在日常和涉外业务活动中进行简单的交流。B级:掌握一般的课堂用语,并能在日常涉外活动中进行简单的交流。

五是阅读。能阅读中等难度的一般题材的简短英文资料,理解正确。在阅读生词不超过总词数3%的英文资料时,阅读速度不低于每分钟70词。能读懂通用的简短实用文字材料,如信函、技术说明书、合同等,理解正确。

六是写作。能就一般性题材,在30分钟内写出80-100词的命题作文;能填写和模拟套写简短的英语应用文,如填写表格与单证,套写简历、通知、信函等,词句基本正确,无重大语法错误,格式恰当,表达清楚。

七是翻译。能借助词典将中等难度的一般题材的文字材料和对外交往中的一般业务文字材料译成汉语。理解正确,译文达意,格式恰当。在翻译生词不超过总词数5%的实用文字材料时,笔译速度每小时250个英语词。

3.重点和难点

重点:使学生掌握一定的英语基础知识和技能,具有一定的听、说、读、写、译的能力。以文章的主题和中心思想为引导,理解细节,掌握语言点扩大词汇量。注重培养学生快速、准确、有效地获取信息的能力。注重培养学生实际从事涉外交际活动的语言应用能力。

难点:词汇量的扩大、语法知识的掌握、翻译及写作技巧的掌握、阅读能力的培养。高职高专学生普遍词汇量小、语法知识薄弱,这就严重影响了阅读、翻译及写作。学生要在掌握了一定的词汇量和语法知识之后,加上一些阅读技巧,从而能借助词典阅读和翻译有关英语业务资料,在涉外交际的日常活动和业务活动中进行简单的书面交流。

4.教学方法

课前根据Listening部分给出的听力内容引导学生就课文主题进行训练,并尽量快速组织语言,口头表达自己的观点,使同学们的观点和思想达到共享,不但调动了学生了解本单元内容的积极性,又达到了语言交际能力的训练目的。为提高教学效果,采用了灵活多样的教学方法和多媒体现代技术手段,主要教学方法有:如讲解式(即老师要对文章中出现的生词、长句、重要的语法知识、课文主题思想、文章结构等进行讲解)、听说式、提问式(即根据课文主题及课文内容提出一些问题,引导学生进行思考,与学生进行对话,从而使学生更进一步地理解文章的主旨大意)、讨论式(即要求学生就所提出的问题进行讨论,发表自己的观点,同时达到观点共享的目的)。

第二部分课程目标

通过本课程的学习,使学生掌握一定的英语基础知识,具备一定的听、说、读、写、译等语言运用能力;通过强化训练,能在涉外交际的日常活动和业务活动中进行简单的书面交流沟通,能为进一步提高英语应用能力等级、获得更高的职业竞争力打下基础。

1.知识目标

(1)扩大学生的词汇量(要求学生掌握单词的读音、用法及拼写),使之达到《基本要求》中规定的3400个单词,为英语学习打下坚实的基础。

(2)通过学习掌握一定的语法知识,能够分析复杂句子结构。

(3)学习掌握应用文(即:表格填写、商务贺卡、商务信函、信封、传真、备忘录、邀请函、简历以及海报)的写作格式。

(4)学习掌握阅读技巧与方法,如:根据定义与复述、比较与对比、举例子等方法猜词义。

2.技能目标

(1)听的技能:能听懂基本的日常对话及简短的篇章。

(2)说的技能:能进行基本的口语交流。

(3)阅读技能:在阅读生词不超过总词数3%的英文资料时,阅读速度能达到不低于每分钟70词的水平。理解和掌握文章的主旨、要点、作者的见解和态度等主要信息,能快速查找有关信息。

(4)写作技能:正确使用所学的词、词组和句型,在30分钟之内能写出80—100字的应用文。

(5)翻译(英译汉)技能:能翻译简短的句子或篇章,主要是英泽汉。

3.态度目标

(1)培养学生养成良好的学习习惯及掌握有效学习英语的方法。

(2)通过举办英语演讲比赛、听力竞赛、词汇竞赛、播放英文歌曲、电影等形式增强学生对国外的了解,提高学习英语的兴趣。

第三部分课程内容标准和要求

本课程根据国家教育部高等教育司颁发的《高职高专教育英语课程教学基本要求》和高职人才培养目标要求,按照学生习得基础知识和提升能力的成长规律,结合本课程的性质、地位及学院的实际,序化了教学内容,确定了学时学分。一、课程内容(详见附表1、附表2)

三、课程基本要求

本课程采用了《21世纪大学实用英语》综合教程 (全新版),共两册,每册共有8个单元,每个单元的教学基本要求由以下六个部分组成:

1.Highlights设置在每单元开始的左栏醒目位置,提纲挈领地列出主要内容;

2.Listening设置在每单元的开始,提供一段短文和一短一长两篇会话。短篇对话起到导入并简介单元内容的双重作用。短篇对话一般较为简单,内容围绕单元主题展开。长篇会话与短篇会话相互照应,并进一步扩展短篇会话的内容。

3.Reading分Text A and Text B,精选反映当代社会生活、科学技术、文教体育等各类主题且又贴近高职高专学生生活的文章,并在文章的右侧及后面都编有涉及阅读理解和启发性的问题,旨在提高学生通过阅读提高语言理解能力。

Text A是重点,Text B供学生课外阅读。其中Vocabulary练习主要针对课文中出现的常用词和词组,帮助学生掌握它们的用法。Structure部分通常选用课文中最为有用的英语句子结构或表达方式。教师可以通过句型转换、完成句子、翻译、造句等形式,让学生切实学会使用句子表达思想观点。

4.Practical Reading以英美国家常见的应用或实用文本为阅读材料,借助文本后面的注释,学生应该能够自行读懂文本内容。阅读材料后的练习相对较为简单,可以留作学生的课外作业。

5.Translation and Practical Writing 对课文中出现的单词、词组和句子结构进行强化练习。Translation主要包括汉译英和英译汉两部分。汉译英练习一共8句,主要目的是将课文中的词语和表达方式准确地应用到句子中去。英译汉练习部分则主要操练英译汉的一些最基本技能,帮助学生逐步提高常用翻译技能。翻译部分的练习可以作为学生的课外作业。Practical Writing是根据学生今后职业活动需要而编写的实用写作训练,内容较多,其中大部分应该由学生在课后完成。

6.Time to Relax(轻松一刻)以歌曲为主,内容一般都与单元主题有一定的关联。学生通过聆听优美、有趣的歌曲,既可以放松身心,又可以为学生创造轻松的语言氛围,增加学习的趣味性,提高学生的学习积极性。

总之,通过教学活动的开展,达到提高学生听、说、读、写、译等基本能力的目标。

第四部分课程实施

一、课程教学组织形式

该课程周学时为4学时,每个单元用6课时完成。

Listening部分用时40分钟左右,通过学生的讨论逐步导入课文话题。

Reading部分是课文的讲解(包括文章背景信息、文章中遇到的语法难点、重点及生词)需要90分钟。

Exercises部分的练习作为学生的课外作业,课堂上需要给学生讲解,大约用时50分钟。

Vocabulary & Structure部分讲解需要25分钟,与该语言点相对应的练习

要求学生在课堂上当场完成,并核对答案,用时25分钟。

Practical Reading部分讲解15分钟,帮助学生掌握一些阅读技巧。

Translation & Writing部分一共8道题,要求学生在课堂上用25分钟完成,之后用10分钟核对答案并对难点进行解答,通过此项练习锻炼学生的翻译能力。

Practical Writing部分总共用时50分钟,通过此部分的学习使学生掌握实际应用英语的能力。

Time to Relax部分留15分钟给学生放松,提高欣赏能力和学习兴趣。

在本课程教学实施过程中,实践教学环节是通过课堂练习和课外练习与作业来完成。每六个学时中,抽出三个学时进行实践训练:包括课前自由演讲,课堂讨论回答问题,课外阅读和完成听说读写译作业,共计32个学时。

二、教材及主要参考书目

本课程选用了复旦大学出版社出版的普通高等教育“十一五”国家规划教材、教育部大学外语推荐教材:《 21世纪大学实用英语》全新版综合教程(1)《 21世纪大学实用英语》全新版综合教程(2)。

主要参考书目有复旦大学出版社出版的《 21世纪大学实用英语》全新版综合教程教学参考用书(1)、《 21世纪大学实用英语》全新版综合教程教学参考书(2)、《高职高专教育英语课程教学基本要求》(高等教育出版社)第1版 (2006年12月1日)

From studying this unit, students are expected to

1. have listening and speaking practices to know what an inspiration means and acquire the theme-related expressions and their functional structures;

2. understand the main ideas of Text A and Text B, master the

useful sentence structures, words and expressions found in the relevant exercises of the first two texts;

3. know the use of dash in writing;

4. be able to read classified ads;

5. be able to write an introduction letter.

第五部分课程考核与评价

一、考核方式及要求

根据《学院各专业人才培养方案》及课程性质任务,本课程为考试课程,注重过程性考核的同时,还要在期末进行终结性考核,综合评定学生最终成绩,具体占比确定如下:

1.课程平时考核(占30%)

(1)注重对学生出勤的考核,端正学生的学习态度,帮助他们养成良好的学习习惯。

(2)在课堂上对课文的内容、结构、写作风格及文化背景知识有重点向学生介绍或提问,通过讨论、提问、小测验等形式对学生的掌握情况进行检查。

(3)针对每课内容给学生留作业,批改验收,并对完成情况进行考查、评价与反馈。

2.期末终结性考试(占70%)

二、评价标准

基本知识、基本技能在考核评价中占60%,重点内容、核心知识、关键技能占30%。难点、运用、拓展、提高的知识、技能占10%。

三、其他说明

1.高等职业教育培养的是在生产、服务、技术和管理第一线工作的高端技能型人才,大学英语课程不仅要帮助大学生打好语言基础,更要注重培养实际使用

语言的技能,特别是使用英语处理日常和涉外业务活动的能力。

2.打好语言基础是英语教学的主要目标,但打好基础要遵循“实用为主,够用为度”的原则,强调打好语言基础和培养语言应用能力并重,强调语言基本技能的训练和培养实际从事涉外交际活动的语言应用能力并重。

3.重视语言学习的规律,正确处理听、说、读、写、译之间的关系,确保各项语言能力的协调发展,目前要特别注重加强听说技能的培养。

4.考虑到大学生入学时英语水平的差异,教学和测试分A、B两级。对入学时未达到标准水平的学生应进行必要的补充训练,逐步使学生都能达到A级要求,以保证《基本要求》的全面落实。

5.在完成《基本要求》规定的教学任务后,应结合专业学习,开设专业英语课程,这既可保证学生在校期间英语学习的连续性,又可使他们所学的英语得到实际的应用。

6.正确处理测试和教学的关系。语言测试应着重考核学生实际运用语言的能力,防止应试教育。与此同时,科学的测试又能为教学改革和语言学习提供积极的反馈,是提高教学质量的必要手段和保证。

7.积极引进和使用计算机多媒体、网络技术等现代化的教学手段,改善学校的英语教学条件。组织学生参加丰富多彩的英语课外素质拓展活动,营造良好的英语学习氛围,激发学生学习英语的自觉性和积极性。
