1:Could you please describe yourself?<能否请你形容一下自己?>

I am creative and motivated. I worked on several major marketing projects with positive results. I am now looking for a challenging marketing position in an established company.

问题2:What do you think are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?

比方说你可以回答︰My greatest weakness is that I value leisure time spent with my family and therefore I treasure my weekends and free time in the evenings. My greatest strength is my commitment to work. I strive for excellence and always try to do my best.

问题3:What do you think are your strongest skills?<你认为你最强的技能是什么?> My strongest skills are handling complaints with great patience. I think solving customer complaints is a wonderful way to win customer loyalty, and I am happy to deal with any problems people may have.

I majored in electrical engineering./

I did mechanical engineering./

Accounting./

I: What was your graduation thesis on?

S: I did my thesis on the differences between Chinese and American humor./

I did a survey of changes in the educational system from the Han dynasty to the Tang dynasty./

I: What were your conclusions?

S: I found out several interesting things—one was that my subject was too broad. I could have written a whole series of books and still not covered everything!/

I found out some really interesting things about the conductivity of liquid helium. I was sure I had a great

discovery until my teacher told me the same discoveries had already been made fifteen years ago. (laugh)I think the most important thing I learned, though, was the importance of keeping good records./

I: What’s your present job?

S: I am working as an office administrator in a small company by the name of Times Trading Company.

I: What kind of jobs have you had?

I: Do you think you are more outward-looking or more inward-looking?

S: Well, sometimes I want to be by myself, but most of the time I prefer being with a group of people, so I guess you’d say rather outgoing. I was very active in my university club./

I like being around people and doing things with people, so outgoing, I guess.

I: Do you call yourself introverted of extroverted?

S: It just depends. When I promoted sales for Sun Co., I was quiteextroverted and persuasive. When I was promoted to the director of sales department, I got slong quite well with the staff members; I liked interacting with them. On the other hank, in my spare time I prefer to be alone, thinking about my work and organization, my past, Present and future, my failure and success, Chinese and forengn development and political situation, or anything I’d like to. At this time I’d rather call myself introverted.

I: Are you more of a follower or a leader?

S: I don’t try to get in front of people and lead them, particularly. I’d rather cooperate with everybody else, and get the job done by working together./

I don’t agree with someone else’s opinion if I think he’s wrong, but if when I understand his thinking and see

he has some good ideas, then I’m very happy to go along with him.

I: What would you say are some of you faults and strong points?

S: Well, I’m afraid I’m poor talker, and that isn’t very good, so I’ve been studying how to speak in public. I suppose a strong point is that I like developing new things and ideas./

People say that I tend to do a thankless task. I can take on jobs that bother other people and just work at them slowly until they get done. I enjoy that sort of thing—that’s a good point, I suppose. But the reverse of that is I tend to be withdrawn. I need to go out and be with other people more, so I’m working on that.

I: What do you think is the most important thing for you to be happy?

S: I feel happy for the happiness for others resulting from my work. When I see what I do benefits others. I think my life value is realized. I have done nothing on purpose that might harm others but “benefit.”

I: What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?

S: I have received seven years of special training. I love my career and am determine to serve my employer heart and soul. Although I have no full-time work experience, I am sure I can apply what I’ve learned to practice and make an excellent engineer.

S: I like seeing films dubbed in English.

I: What kind of sports do you like? And do you watch, or play?

S: I like watching and playing both. And I enjoy almost all sports, but I especially like tennis and gymnastics. I was in the gymnastics club all through high school, so particularly in the case of gymnastics I prefer doing to watching./

I like cooking. When someone compliments me on something I’ve cooked, that makes me very happy.

I: Do you smoke?

S: Yes, I do./

I like drinking, but I don’t smoke.

I: How do you spend your free time?

S: I run or play tennis or do something else like that to get some exercise and keep in shape./

I play the flute with a group of friends sometimes—We’re all amateurs. And I have some American friends in University, so I go and see them every so often./

I read books or straighten my room, or go shopping usually./

I do some reading, go swimming, or go shopping, I also play football, basketball and something else like that to keep fit.

I: What kind of books you like?

S: I like mysteries very much—I like to try to figure out “who did it” before the author explains everything. My favorite character is Hercule Poirot(赫邱里?波罗)in the Agatha Christie mysteries(阿嘉莎? I’ve read all of those. /

I like biographies. It’s interesting to read about the backgrounds of people who have become famous, and see what I can learn from their lives.

I: What is the most impressive book you’ve read recently?

S: I read the book that the movie “The Deer Hunter” was based on, about the war in Vietnam, and it made a very deep impression on me. It was the first thing I’d ever read that made war seem real to me. It was quite a shock. I: What was it that shocked you?

S: I guess the tragedy of the fighting and the close friendship that it brought among the men. Fighting and

friendship always seemed contradictory to me, and that book shows them as very closely related. It’s given me a lot to think about.

S: I like the novels of Hermann Hesse very much. I’ve read almost all of them in English translation. I wish I could read them in the original—I hear they’re even better then.

I: Can you name one person that you respect very much?

S: My English teacher in college. She had so much humor and vitality, and I was very impressed with her tactfulness. She could make a person see the contradictions in his thinking with out making him feel foolish. I learned a lot from watching the way she applied herself to her teaching, and how she led people to see things./ Mmm…Dr. Martin Luther King. He impressed me as a man with a great deal of love for mankind, the way he worked for Black liberation and equality. His “I have a Dream.” sermon has had a big effect on me. I’ve listened to that tape hundreds of times.

I: What basic principles do you apply to you life?

S: I try to keep to a regular schedule every day. When I don’t, my body isn’t in good shape, and neither is my mind, so I’ve been keeping to a schedule ever since I started college./

Not to put off till tomorrow what you can do today. I’ve found out that time and money get away very easily—you think you have them, and they’re gone! Putting things off just makes it worse later, so ever if it’s hard at the time, I try to get things done that day and not let them to./

I try to keep a child’s outlook on some things. I want to continue to see the beauty in flowers and plants and

animals—I don’t want to lose that.

多米诺骨牌效应:=Something you learned from math=Something you learned from your family=A piece of advice=A change you had=An important stage in your life=A text message you got=A letter you got=An E-mail you got=A way of communication=An important decision you made=A person who helped you=A kind thing someone did to you=A family member you love talking to=A good parent=An elderly family member=A neighbor=A good friend=A teacher=A science course you took=A subject you love/d at school=Your personality=First day of college=Your experience of getting money as a gift=Your experience of getting congratulations=A person you helped=A thing your friend did made you admire.
