Oliver’s Kindness

His Kindness to the Poor

In the life of his working in the coffin shop, he expressed sympathy to the poor who were more misfortune than him. For example,” A man and an old woman stood near the body, Oliver was afraid to kook at them.” why did Oliver don’t want to see them? That’s becaus e he was too kind to have the heart to the poor. Even though he knew himself also was a poor boy, that’s not the reason that he didn’t care about the other poor, but why did he do like that? He couldn’t offer them money, after all, he was poor too, and he also couldn’t give them encouragement. Because they didn’t need that, so all he could do was feeling sorry to them,:” so how did you like it, Oliver?’ asked so we were later, as they walked home.’ not very much, sir’ Oliver answered truthfully. Oliver wondered how long that would take, and remains silent all the way back to the shop, thinking about everything that he had seen and heard.

His Kindness to the Thieves

Fagin was deceitful, he didn’t believe in anybody.he even knocked them both down the stairs and sent them to bed with no dinner, because they had returned with nothing .he also treat bad to Oliver when Oliver was caught to Fagin’s house again,

Fagin picked up a long piece of wood, he hit Oliver hard on the shoulders with stick, even though he was so bad, Oliver also keep a kind attitude to him. When Fagin was in the prison, Oliver even went to see him, he said “yes, Will you pray with me?’ how kind he was, what he thought at that time was the good that Fagin to him. we can see that the aim he went there was pray for him , I think Oliver had not hate him ever , he also remembered that if there was no Fagin who gave him a place to live , he might be dead already . He was not only kind but also knew absolutely.

Oliver’s innocence

Oliver was not only kind, but also innocent, His innocent shoe off many aspects When Oliver was with the thieves, he was more innocent than ever. For example, at first , he arrived in London with no money, and there was nobody who he knew, Dodger “help” him, and introduce Fagin to him “ “well, don’t worry, I’ve got to be in London tonight, and I know a very nice old gentleman there who will let you live in his place and not even ask you for money .’ Oliver was deeply grateful for this offer of shelter and talked for a long time with his new friend...... However, he wanted first to meet the kind old gentleman in London, who would help him. So innocent he was. He believed in a thief actually. He deeply trusts in Fagin before he melts Fagin by what Dodger said. Was there a thief can know a man who would like to help the poor? After all that Dodger was a thief whose friends must be bad men? However, Oliver believed him. He went with Dodger to Fagin’s house.

Oliver’s Honesty

As we know, Oliver was poor, he needed money. But he did not take the money because of his honest and he said to Mr. Brownlow “I will be back after ten minutes.” however, he was grasped by Fagin unluckily. Unexpectedly, when he was with Fagin, he also said to him “those books and money belong to the kind old man who took me into his home , send him back the books and the money ---he will think I stole them.’ In the last example, I have an analysis about the words. Of course; it showed Oliver’s innocence, but it also gave us a look at Oliver’s honest. at that ti me, he was in bad situation, however he also remembered that he must send the books back to Mr. Brown low, he just wanted to convinced that he was not a deceiver, he was honest, although that things couldn’t be sent back, it also could convinced Oliver’s h onest. Are there any people can do like that? Especially, Oliver was a poor boy; he lived in that society which was full of criminals. But he also can keep an honest, that’s so valuable. When Oliver lived a happy life with rose and Mrs. Maylei, he didn’t forget Mr. Brown low, not only because of Mr. Brownlow’s benefit to him but those books and money, he didn’t want Mr. Brownlow to get a false understanding about him. So he always remembered that thing, from this we can see Oliver was

honest absolutely.

Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens', is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century.

The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London.

The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end. One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty.

How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. Although I don't think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.

The Reflection of Oliver Twist Tell the truth, I could not understand this novel well . About five weeks ago ,I watched the same name film which had a deep impression on me . I was touched by the hero from this novel whose name is Oliver Twist . So then I opened the book to read again . Although there were some differences between the film and the novel, it presented the same thing . I feel that all the facts described is to make the real inner sense more thought-provoking. The themes in this novel can be divided two parts–positive and negative aspect. The first positive theme was kind .In this novel ,kind had defeated the evil .Oliver, Nacy and Rose who were all the representatives of the kind . Although they were born in a poor family and grew up in the dark and criminal world .They still kept an unsophisticated world and a kind heart. No matter how hard they were, they never gave up and corrupt. They showed us their gracious quality .In addition , Nacy treated Oliver as her young brother so that she helped and cared him in many situations even she finally killed by his bloody husband for rescuing Oliver. Brown protected Oliver from murdering because he was kind and sympathetic to him. All they were strong due to their kind hearts ,so in the end , they defeated the evil and conquered. It also told us that everyone should have dignified. I admired Oliver’s bravery . while suffering from starvation and malnutrition for a long period of time, Oliver was chosen by the other boys at the orphanage to request more gruel at dinner one night. He begged for some more soup just because he was very hungry. Nobody can do that . The trainee shamed his mother and he revolted against the trainee. Even he was weaker than the trainee when he was caught by the Fagin, he cried and begged them to send the money and books back to Brownlow. He wanted to preserve his dignify and showed his honesty. I was touched by all these behaviors.

Appreciations and Criticisms of the Works of Charles Dickens文集,George Gissing 曾发表过Parentage and Inheritance in the Novels of Charles Dickens,还有一些外国大学的文学课堂也不断地在深入研究着狄更斯的作品,其中最有名的可以数美国的加州大学。

BOOK REPORT_Oliver Twist Charles Dickens is one of the most famous novelists of the Victorian Age. When Charles Dickens was young, his father was put into prison. During this time, Dickens was living by himself and working in the underground cell of a shoe blacking factory. Maybe it is because this period of experience that makes Charles Dickens’s works are more focused on the living condition of the poor. In many of his novels, Dickens showed his sympathy for the poor. Just like this book-Oliver Twist in which Charles Dickens described the miserable life of the poor children and exposed the seedy side of the society at that time. Oliver Twist is one of Charles Dickens' most popular stories. Oliver Twist was born in a workhouse in 1930s. Later, he was sent to a Coffin shop as an apprentice. As he couldn’t endure the oppression from his boss, he fled to London. However, on the way to London, he was cheated into the haunt of thieves and trained to be a thief. On one occasion, he was taken in by a rich man—Mr. Brownlow. But unfortunately, he was framed and entrapped into the haunt of thieves again. But Oliver still believes that there are hopes in his life. Finally, Nancy, a kind-hearted woman pickpocket, rescued Oliver from dangers despite the threat of the thief-in-chief and told Brownlow that actually Oliver is his good friend’s son. Nancy was killed at the end of the story, but the police surround the haunt of thieves immediately and Oliver reunited with his family members. Of the characters in this story, Oliver, Nancy and Miss Ross represent the goodness that they are born in suffering, grow in dark world, but still keep a heart of

《Oliver Twist》is one of my favourite novels, the characters and the delicate stories move me deeply.《Oliver Twist》, a realistic novel wrote by English writer Dickens is published in 1838. In this novel, Nancy’s character is complex and ambiguous, and she is just like a unit of angle and evil. On the one hand, she has done numerous crimes under control of Fagin as a young female thief. The first thing which can prove her evil is her effort in the process of recapturing Oliver Twist. Her twice courses of action can prove that the evil inside of her characteristics. On the other hand, she tries all her best to help Oliver out from the thief gang with the awareness of disgrace in herself and evil in her fellow gang, gradually, she wakes up and regrets, stands up and defenses against evil and oppression. Nancy’s good nature mainly embodies in her protection of little Oliver. These words are enough to show her kindness to shock the readers. At last, she overcomes evil by making the sublimating of spirit and break through of nature. It’s just this double nature that well reflects the reality at that time. Nancy in Oliver Twist has also become the most typical image in the literature field. Nancy is not just a signal of simple character but a vivid and unique figure which leaves deepest impression to readers. The significance lies in a scathing indictment of the capitalist society. In despite of the happy ending of Oliver painted a layer of bright color for the novel, it will never cover up critical significance of Na ncy’s double character.

《雾都孤儿英文读后感》 雾都孤儿英文读后感(一): Learn to love and care Here I am sitting on a couch alone, thinking about what I have just finished reading with tears of sadness filling my eyes and fire of indignation filling my heart, which revived my exhausted soul that has already been covered by the cruelty and the selfishness of the secular world for a long time。 It is truly what I felt after reading Oliver Twist, written by the prominent British author Charles Dickens。 The resonance between me and the book makes me feel not only the kindness and the wickedness of all the characters in the novel, but what this aloof society lacks, and what I lack deep inside。 These supreme resources Im talking about right now are somewhat different from minerals, oil that we usually mention。 Theyre abstract like feelings, and some kinds of spiritual stimulation that all of us desire anxiously from one another love and care。 Those charitable figures whom Dickens created in the novel are really what we need in life。 They showed love and care to others, just as the gentle rain from the sky fell upon the earth, which was carved into my heart deeply。 Mr。 Brownlow is one such person。 The other day he had one of his elaborate watches stolen by two skilled teenage thieves, Artful Dodger and Charley Bates, and thought naturally it was Oliver, who was an orphan and forced to live with a gang of thieves, that had done it because he was the only one near by after the theft had taken place。 Being wrathful, he caught Oliver, and sent him to the police station where the ill-tempered, unfair magistrates worked。 Fortunately for him, Oliver was proved innocent by one onlooker afterwards。 With sympathy, Mr。 Brownlow took the injured, poor Oliver to his own home。 There Oliver lived freely and gleefully for some months as if he were Mr。 Brownlows own son。 One day, however, Mr。 Brownlow asked Oliver to return some books to the bookseller and to send some money for the new books that he had already collected。 The thief Oliver once stayed with kidnapped him。 After that he disappeared in Mr。 Brownlows life。 Searching for a while,Mr。 Brownlow had to believe the fact that he had run away with his money。 But dramatically, they came across each other again a few years later。 Without hesitation, Mr。 Brownlow took Oliver home for the second time not caring if he had done something evil。 Perhaps most of us would feel confused about Mr。 Brownlows reaction。 But as a matter of fact, this is just the lesson we should learn from him。 Jesus said in the Bible。 Forgive not seven times, but seventy-times seven。 Why is that? Because forgiveness is our

It's long long ago, maybe before I can read english books. I don't remember which movie edition I had seen. But I was impressed by the music, the scenery and the costume. I was very favor of a section of music in its balls. It's pretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird. Regarding to the characters, I liked Elizabeth, the heroine, though I didn't think she's beautiful. But she's smart. However, I didn't pay much attention to the plot. I thought it's so long that it made me impatient and bored. By now, I haven't read the whole story in English or its Chinese version, either. I owe it to my prejudice. Oliver Twist is written by Charles Dickens. Charles Dickens is one of the greatest writers in the England. He was born in a poor family, but later he became famous and rich. The famous novel --A Tale of Two Cities is written by him, too. This novel shows us the cruelty and crime of London. Oliver Twist, the hero, is a poor orphan. He lived in a life filled with taunts. Nobody loved him. With visions of his future, he decided to go to London. He thought a new life was coming, but he was wrong, a group of thieves were waiting for him.
