Topic:The Industrial Revolution in Great Britain The Industrial Revolution was a period from the 18th to the 19th century. It is a Revolution regarding on the method of production and the relations of production. It has a great impact on every aspects in Great Britain and even all over the order .

The Background and Pre-conditions for the Industrial Revolution The background and pre-conditions can be summarized as follows:

(1) The aspect of policy:After the bourgeois revolution, the monarchy is established. Governments carried out economic policy to make capitalist develop.

(2) The accumulation of wealth: The British foreign trade and slave trade provided great source of wealth.

(3) The large amount of labor force: lots of small peasants were deprived of their land. They had to make a living by selling their labor.

(4)The accumulation of materials and resources: Materials and resources were

accumulated.

The process of the Industrial Revolution

(1)In 1765, a machine with eight spindles and with bars and clamps to take

the place of human fingers in guiding and holding the threads was

invented by James Hargreaves.

(2)In 1769 , a barber by the name of Richard Arkwright invented a spinning

machine run by waterpower .

(3)In 1785 , Edmund Cartwright invented the power loom, which greatly

increased the speed of weaving.

(4)The steam engine was soon applied to cool mining ,textile , iron and steel

and machine industries.

(5)In 1814, further improvements were made on the steam locomotive,

which was used on the railway.

(6)In 1803, a young American of Irish origin successfully built a steamboat

after making improvements on those made by his predecessors. In

The significances (consequences) of The Industrial Revolution Impact to Great Britain

(2)The industrial bourgeoisie gained supremacy in the 1840s not only in the

economic but also in the political life of the country.

(3)Productivity was greatly increased.

(4)The population was more and more concentrated in towns and cities.

(5)The rapid growth of capitalism ,while bringing enormous wealth to the

industrial bourgeoisie, caused miseries and disasters among the working

people.

Impact to all over the world

(1) From production terms of technology, the industrial revolution manual

workshop with machines replaced manual. It creates huge productivity and

leads humans enter into steam era.

(2) From social relationships

1. It may make attached to the industrial revolution backward production

mode class of yeomen farmers emerged disappeared. What’s more ,industrial bourgeoisie and industrial proletariat formed and became strong.

3. People's idea and lifestyle had started to change. A large number of rural

people poured into the city, which promoted the urbanization process.

4. Human beings changed from agriculture civilization to industrial

civilization.

Impact to China:

(1) After Britain launching two opium wars, China began to degenerate into half colonial semi-feudal society.

(2) China became great powers of goods and materials to plunder dumping market capitalism. What’s worse ,China was forced to enter into the world market.

(3) It was appeared that advanced Chinese open his eyes to see the world .Besides, new trends of germination that Chinese people start to learn from the western countries had appeared.

My own views on the Industrial Revolution

The reasons that contribute to this revolution should be divided into inevitability and contingency two aspects. In addition, it was one of the direct reasons of the primitive accumulation of capital and the rapid development of capitalism in Britain after the Bourgeois Revolution.

The industrial revolution had great historical significance. What’s more, it also had a profound and significant impact on the evolution of human society. European and American countries entered into industrial country form the agricultural country. Besides, Capitalism created far more wealth than the previous centuries in its less than 100 years.

Industrial revolution brought great progress and happiness to mankind, but also contributed mankind to facing new conflicts and challenges.
