One day, a teacher was speaking to a group of students about how to best use their time. He gave an example those students would never forget.

He pulled out a big bottle and put it on the table. He also took out about a dozen rocks and carefully put them into the bottle, one rock at a time. When no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, “Is this bottle full?”

Everyone in the c lass shouted, “Yes.” The teacher replied, “Really?” He pulled out of a bucket of very small rocks. He poured some small rocks in and shook the bottle. The small rocks went down into the spaces among the big rocks. He then asked the group once more, “Is thi s bottle full?”

“Probably not,” one of them answered. “Good!” he replied. He brought out a bucket of sand and poured the sand in the bottle and it went into all of the spaces left among the rocks. Once more, he asked the question “Is this bottle full?”

“No!” the class shouted. Once again he said. “Good.” Then he poured a cup of water in until the bottle was full. The he asked, “What is the idea here?” One student put up his hand and said, “The idea is, no matter how busy your life is, you can always do mo re things if you try really hard!’

“No,” the teacher replied, “ that’s not the idea. The idea is if you don’t put the big rocks at first, you’ll never get them in at all. What are the big rocks in your life? We are all called upon to make a speech at some point in life, but most of us don’t do a very good job. This article gives some suggestions on how to give an effective speech.

So, you have to give a speech—and you are terrified. You get nervous, you forget what you want to say, you stumble over words, you talk too long, and you bore your audience. Later you think, “Thank Goodness, it’s over. I’m just not good at public speaking. I hope I never have to do that again.”

Cheep up! It doesn’t have to be that bad. Here are some simple steps to take the pain out of speech making. Ask yourself the purpose of your speech. What is the occasion? Why are you speaking? Then, gather as many facts as you can on your subject. Spend plenty of your time doing your research. Then spend plenty of your time organizing your material so that your speech is clear and easy to follow. Use as many examples as possible, and use pictures, charts, and graphs if they help you make your points more clearly. Never forget your audience. Don’t talk over their heads, and don’t talk down to them. Treat your audience with respect. They will appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Just remember: Be prepared. Know your subject, your audience, and the occasion. Be brief. Say what you have to say and then stop. And be yourself. Let your personality come through so that you make person-to-person contact with your audience.

写作技巧 一、了解高分作文的特点 要想作文获得高分,必须了解高分作文具有的特点,才有助于我们朝之而努力。高分作文一般具有以下特点: 1、书写工整,书面整洁,很少有涂改痕迹。 2、分段合理。全文分段一般不止一个自然段,让阅卷老师很容易就能找到作文所要求写的要点和重要句子。 3、要点齐全,不缺要点。 4、首尾呼应,自然成一体。 5、使用了大量的高级词汇和句型。阅卷老师一看就知道这个同学的功底非不一般,自然就给打高分了。 6、开头言简意赅,不啰嗦,不偏题,迅速引入主题。 7、段与段之间,自然过渡。有合适的连接词。 8、句与句之间,有恰当的连接词,使之自然成一体。 9、全文中同一个意思,基本没有重复使用某一个词、短语或者句型等,说明这个同学的词汇量不同寻常。老师自然就对该作文有好感了。 10、能够恰当使用谚语、格言等给文章添彩。 二、勤积累,巧准备 要想作文得高分,除了了解以上的特点外,还要在平时的学习中注意一下方面: 1、牢记课标词汇是基础 一篇作文多数是由积极词汇写出来的,这些词汇主要来源于课标。因此,牢记课标词汇是写好作文的基础。 2、掌握课标词汇和短语的用法 要想作文不扣分或者少扣分,有个要作文的语病少。怎么能够减少语病呢?这就要求我们在平时的学习过程中反复通过练习,掌握课标词汇和短语等的用法。例如,对于as soon as 、stop some body from doing something 、other 、another等的用法很多学生就经常出错。 3、高度重视同一个意思的多种表达方式 高分作文有个特点是:让老师发现你拥有丰富的词汇量,你的水平高人一筹。这由何而来?靠我们在平时学习过程中,逐步积累起来的。比如:今年的中考作文,谈的就是帮助他人的问题。同一个意思“帮助”,假如你就用一个动词“help”,岂不显得你词汇贫乏?假如你在作文中不断地变换方式,用help、give somebody a hand、 give a hand to somebody 、be in need of 等以表达“帮助”同一个意思,岂不更好呢? 像这样的例子很多,比如:大家都觉得很简单又很基础的“表示的方式”就有:My name is Jim. 2018年英语中考质量分析报告一、基本情况分析: 我校今年参加中考人数80人,从整体上分析,学生学习的积极性不是很高,学生整体素质与往届学生比各个方面都存在很大的差距。在学习过程中学生自主学习的积极性不是很高,两极分化严重,尖子生也不够突出,中等学生发挥不是很稳定,学生学科之间发展不平衡,学生偏科现象存在,基础不扎实,懒惰性太强。尖子生学习爱“钻牛角”,中等学生等你讲,“讲什么就是什么”,学困生干脆就直接放弃,通过后阶段教师积极做思想动员,纠正了一部分学生的思想状态,但是考试中仍然影响着学生的发挥。 二、考试成绩 1.参考80人,A卷及格19人,及格率%,优秀8人,优秀率10%,平均分;AB合卷及格9人,及格率%,成绩很不理想。 2.存在问题: (1)学生基础差,没有形成良好的学习习惯,学习积极性不高,同时间对学生英语有较强的逆反心理现象,布置学生任务从不按时完成。 (2)学生几次知识记忆不牢固。七八年级知识几乎忘记,所学知识不够贯通,不会运用。 (3)全校高分偏低。由于七年级学生入口成绩特别差,对学习几乎丧失信息,造成学习过程中学生自主学习的积极性不是很高,两极分化严
