The British are known as people who love to stand in line, but a new research shows that the British are only about average (平均数) at waiting politely in a queue(排、队). The French are the best. It's the Germans who don't have a good habit of standing in line. They can't stand to wait for anything. They begin to shout loudly and noisily if the line doesn't seem to be moving fast enough. The experts studied 940 people across Europe. They watched secretly as they waited in line to get tickets, to order fast food and to wait for the bus. Students at Zhengzhou Middle School have already made more than 100 hand-made nests. On Feb 28, they held an exhibition to show their nests. Soon, they will hang them up in the trees. Students learned how to build the nests in a special course. This project was part of their course homework.

Students were able to develop their creativity. They used all kinds of materials like wood boards, coconut shells(椰子壳) and water pipes to make the nests. Their nests are all shaped differently.

Sun Haoyun,12, made his nest with a coconut shell. It was not easy to make it. “The coconut shell was so hard. I used an electric drill(电钻) and a hammer to make a ‘door’ for the birds. It

improved my hands-on ability,” he said. To ke ep the birds warm, he put some woolen yarn(毛线) into it. Also, he added the top part of a drink bottles as the “roof” to keep birds from the rain.

Making the nests warm and comfortable is not enough. Students also thought of the birds’ safety. Zhang Sihan, 13, made a green nest like a ball. She put some small plastic leaves on a ball-shaped nest which is made of wires(金属丝). “My green nest will make them hide safely in the trees,” Zhang said.
