Gone with the wind

Margaret Mitchell (1900 –1949) was an American author and journalist. One novel by Mitchell was published during her lifetime, Gone with the Wind. For it she won the National Book Award for Most Distinguished Novel of 1936 and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1937. A collection of articles written by Mitchell for the Atlanta Journal was republished in book form. These additional works have enabled scholars and the public to more fully comprehend the richness and depth of Margaret Mitchell's writing.

Having read the novel Gone with the wind written by America writer Margaret Mitchell, I was deeply shocked .The novel ,which Margaret Mitchell spent about ten years on, not only created a myth, but also show her own personal opinion to the world. The novel’s background is based on the civil war, which happened in the United States. According to the changes of the civil war stars the circumstances, so it has divided the macro history into micro history of personal experience. We can realize that the thinking of Margaret through characters changes of people.

GONE WIITH THE WIND is a famous story, whose main character is Scarlett who is the oldest daughter of a reach man. Scarlett grew in a soft and sweet environment .Her childhood is full of happiness and freedom, but at the age of sixteen, the world of her life began to change. At the bottom of her heart, she loved Ashley very much! Then news came that Ashley would be married with Melanie, she felt surprised and even could not accept the fact. With the psychology of revenging Ashley, Scarlett married to Melanie’s brother before the day Ashley wedding. With the development of the war, many young man died, including Scarlett’s husband. Scarlett can’t stand the boring life as a widow. At the same time Ashley also joined the army, so his wife Melanie invited Scarlett to the home of Charles’s aunt. Without more consideration, Scarlett left for Atlanta with her little son. For the change of environment, Scarlett felt a little better. One time the hospital holds a party to collect contributions. In the party, Scarlett met a strange person, whose name was Rhett. And Scarlett still remembered that he was just the person who had known her love to Ashley. Rhett invited Scarlett to have a dancing though

she was criticized by all the women around her, she still accepted the invitation. After the case, Scarlett became more and more open to the things around her. The war was terrible, but it also gives Scarlett a chance to fight with the old custom. Ashley came back from the battlefield for one week. Scarlett made up her mind to tell Ashley her true feeling, but rejected by Ashley once again. Eventually, Scarlett married with Rhett. One years later ,they had a lovely daughter called Bonnie. Rhett loves Bonnie very much so that he can do everything for her including changing himself to get along with the people who hated him before. Scarlett is very envy the little Bonnie. But Scarlett still loves Ashley, not Rhett. After Bonnie died, Rhett felt the world began to over. And then he decided to leave. At the same day, Ashley’s wife was dying, too. Having talked to Ashley, Scarlett eventually found that the man who she really loved was Rhett, not Ashley.

When I have finished reading the book, my heart was full of sorrow, Scarlett was a common girl, but what she did was not common. She didn’t stay silence during the civil war, her own world was just changed by herself. Scarlett had the braveness to change the old rule. What she finally has was the consequence of her own efforts. Another character that I loved most was Rhett. He was a man who always loved Scarlett very much, no matter what difficulties Scarlett faced, Rhett would always company her and try to help her. And he always made Scarlett happy because he was a man who knew about her clearly. After Scarlett’s first husband died, he invited her to dance which made her never upset. When her second husband died, he persuaded her didn’t to be sorrowful and went down on his knees to ask Scarlett marry him. What’s more, the character I also loved is Melanie, she was so kind-hearted and always stood by the side of others. In my heart, she was the embodiment of kindness.

I was so deeply shocked by the indomitable spirit of Scarlett facing difficulties. But to attain her ending by hook, I felt offensive, especially the thing what she had done to Melanie. What’s more, I was so angry with her infatuation attitude to Ashley and her ignorance attitude to Rhett. While the more care Rhett gave to Scarlett, the more joy I got.

Nevertheless, at last, Rhett felt disappointed about Scarlett and left her. In my opinion, everyone has their own desires. Whether the desire is usual or unusual, we need to search for our own happiness. We should pursue our happiness, although there might be some difficulties and disputes. We should never give up our desires, as Scarlett said that,“tomorrow is another day!”

哈姆雷特英文读后感 第一篇:《哈姆雷特》英文读后感 shakspere created hamlet--a man with wisdom and courage .in order to revenge on his uncle for killing his father, he pretented to be mad and suffered a series of misery. on the contrary, we can also say that hamlet is rude and selfish for he did not think twice before his revenge . if a country has no king, how can a country keep alive so, every thing has two sides, the bright side and adumbral side. every time we make a decision we have to think twice. ment: be careful with your spelling, grammar, and punctuation. too many uncessary mistakes. it is good that you looked at both the dark and bright sides of hamlet. thats quite objective and convincing. 第二篇:哈姆雷特的英文读后感 读后感 as one of four of shakespeare's most famous tragedies, in my view of hamlet is one of the most classic one. he was there all the tragic prince who had assembled at the poor. father was his uncle killed, mother remarry, was still married under a horizontal bar in front of carriage for armrest of his father's enemy, unfortunately died after lover crazy, finally together with his friends, mothers in this tragedy, was pletely engulfed. this series is derived from the desire of the tragedy and hatred. uncle's greed and desire made him contrary to justice these cults undertake irrational things, also attracted its own nephews could not be devoid of hatred, but also unable to avoid the curse of the seeds of their own destiny, until finally breaking up. but what about the little prince, in deep sorrow because of father's death, because of his father's ghost and the initiation of thoughts of revenge. so step by step plan, wants revenge for the father to their own, but tried again protection of his mother, but never thought about the accident continues, mothers, lovers, friends, they will be lost. shakespeare seems to use this text as the world reveal terrible hatred, it is a double-edged sword, a very sharp, also full of

Whether to rise vigorou sly or go downhill? Because of sorrow and oppression, all the virtuous flowers have withered in his eyes, while the rank grasses are growing crazily. After the night of balcony, the flame of hatred finally simmered in the heart of Hamlet and he chose revenge. With the death of Ophelia, who loved him dearly and he loved dearly, and the tragic death of obstinate Polonius, Hamlet may have a moment of uneasiness, but to accomplish his revenge cause-the revenge cause I thought brutal-anyway, this is his choice, abandon survival and choose destruction, regard the royal place as nothing, this is the road his chose and the abandonment of a great prince that makes the later generations sign.Shakespeare does not belong to an era but all the centuries and his plays are like a Big Dipper in the starlit sky, which points the way for people. Hamlet is not an objective and obsolete role, but each of us.

Abstract And Reviews of Macbeth Abstract: Macbeth begins as the heroic warrior who, together with Banquo, fights loyally in support of his king against rebels. Upon returning from his victory, Macbeth and Banquo encounter the three witches, who prophesy that Macbeth shall be thane of Cawdor, and king hereafter, and that Banquo’s children will succeed him on the throne. As Macbeth knows nothing of Cawdor’s part in the rebellion, the prophecies are incredible to him. However, with the first prophesy immediately confirmed be emissaries from Duncan, king of Scotland, Macbeth’s blood-thirsty ambition has been greatly stirred up by the witches’ miraculous prophesy. And when Duncan is on a visit to his castle, Macbeth, who is spurred on by Lady Macbeth, takes the chance to have the King murdered. But Macbeth soon finds that one crime is not enough to keep the crown for him. To keep his crown, he abandons reason to mindless savagery and plunges from covert to open slaughter. He murders Banquo and kills Macduff’s wife and children and others. Thus, Macbeth has degenerated into a tyrant and mass murderer. While Macbeth flails about him, killing suspected as well as herself, in her sleep, hag-ridden by horror and remorse. Finally she commit herself suicide. Macbeth also experiences a kind of mental disturbance, haunted by the involved all the people of Scotland who are groaning under his yoke and longing for liberation. When the opposing forces march forward, the people eagerly join them in fighting against the tyranny. In the closing scene, Macbeth’s isolation becomes complete. As his castle is surrounded, Macbeth is reduced to a trapped animal and meets his final doom. Malcolm wins the kingship. Reviews: After learning this drama during this semester, I learn a lot. And here I have some points to talk about. The first one is that I am very impressed by the wittiness of Duncan’s two sons, Malcolm and Donalbain. When their father is murdered, the situation is a chaos. They don’t know who the murderer is and what their intentions are. They realize that they may be also in danger, as Donalbain says to Malcolm: “What should be spoken here, where our fate, hid in an auger-hole, may rush, and seize us? Let’s away; our tears are not yet brew’d.”So when Macbeth suggests all meet in the hall together, Malcolm says that”let’s not consort with them”and he goes to England and Donalbain to Ireland. As we can see, if they don’t flee, they may become the next persons to die, especially Malcolm, who is named by the king the Prince of Cumberland and will inherit the kingship after his father. As the old saying goes, revenge is a dish that should be eaten cold The fact also proves that they make the right decision. Several years later, Malcolm comes back, fights with Macbeth and gains the kingship. What I want to say is not that we should revenge our enemies, but that we should keep in reason, keep calm. Think twice before you jump, especially in emergencies and disorders. Another point I’d like to talk about is the relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. At the very beginning, we can see that they have a very good
