e.g. They had already had breakfast before they arrived at the hotel.

(b).注意过去完成时跟后面学的从句联系起来 e.g. When I woke up, it had stopped raining

(c).过去完成时还可用在hardly … when …, no sooner … than …,等固定句型中。

e.g. Hardly had he began to speak when the audience interrupted him.

No sooner had he arrived than he went away again.

(这些半倒装句子还会变吗??相似的还有否定含义的频度副词:never, hardly, rarely等;

三大类:to do, doing, done

主要考查to do, doing作宾语,doing, done作定语、状语

1. to do, doing

(1)后面跟to do 作宾语的动词: hope, agree, dare, decide, determine||begin, start, refuse, prepare, offer||manage, try, aim, forget, remember \ choose||

seem, pretend, learn, love, hate

e.g. She pretended not to see me when I passed by.

(2)后面跟doing作宾语的动词give up, enjoy, regret // insist on, practise , finish // put off, avoid , mind

e.g. Would you mind waiting a few minutes?They are looking forward to Mary’s coming

2. doing & done

e.g.running water Do you know the three children walking towards us?

3. doing & done

e.g. Walking in the street, I came across an old friend.

Having finished the homework, he went home.

How to prevent them from swimming in this river is a problem.

She likes playing the piano, but she doesn't want to play it today.

4.v.-ing

eg. The girl writing a letter there can speak English very well.

I have three letters to write.

5.v.-ing

I have told them to come again tomorrow.

I hear her singing in the room.

I hear her sing in the room.

an inspiring speech鼓舞人心的演说;the inspired audience受鼓舞的听众

the changing world正在变化的世界the changed world已经变化了的世界

The bell ringing, we all stopped talking.

The meeting_(being)_over, all left the room.

She read the letter, tears rolling down her cheeks.

=She read the letter with tears rolling down her cheeks.

(2)再根据主句的主语,来判断主动或被动;

例如:influenced by the growing interest in nature, more people enjoy outdaoor activities.

All flights having been cancelled , they decided to take the train.

(3)介词后一定要加动词的-ing 形式;

考虑到,鉴于Time/weather permitting 时间、天气允许的话Taking …into account / consideration 考虑到Judging from/ by…根据…判断including sth (sth included)包括某事

WHO AM I? 【1】Over time I have been changed quite a lot. I began as a calculating machine in France in 1642. Although I was young I could simplify difficult sums. I developed very slowly and it took nearly two hundred years before I was built as an analytical machine by Charles Babbage. After I was programmed by an operator who used cards with holes, I could "think" logically and produce an answer quicker than any person. At that time it was considered a technological revolution and the start of my "artificial intelligence". In 1936 my real father, Alan Turing, wrote a book about how I could be made to work as a "universal machine" to solve any difficult mathematical problem. From then on, I grew rapidly both in size and in brainpower. By the 1940s I had grown as large as a room, and I wondered if I would grow any larger. However, this reality also worried my designers. As time went by, I was made smaller. First as a PC (personal computer) and then as a laptop, I have been used in offices and homes since the 1970s. 【2】These changes only became possible as my memory improved. First it was stored in tubes, then on transistors and later on very small chips. As a result I totally changed my shape. As I have grown older I have also grown smaller. Over time my memory has developed so much that, like an elephant, I never forget anything I have been told! And my memory became so large that even I couldn't believe it! But I was always so lonely standing there by myself, until in the early 1960s they gave me a family connected by a network. I was able to share my knowledge with others through the World Wide Web. 【3】Since the 1970s many new applications have been found for me. I have become very important in communication, finance and trade. I have also been put into robots and used to make mobile phones as well as help with medical operations. I have even been put into space rockets and sent to explore the Moon and Mars. Anyhow, my goal is to provide humans with a life of high

In the 1960s, medical researchers Thomas Holmes and Richard Rahe developed a checklist of stressful events. They appreciated the tricky point that any major change can be stressful. Bad events like "serious illness of a family member" were high on the list, but so were some helpful life-changing events like marriage. When you take the Holmes-Rahe test you must remember that the score does not show how you deal with stress - it only shows how much you have to deal with. And we now know that the way you deal with these events dramatically (戏剧性的) affects your chances of staying healthy. By the early 1970s, hundreds of similar studies had followed Holmes and Rahe. And millions of Americans who work and live under stress worried over the reports. Somehow the research got boiled down to a memorable message. Women's magazines ran titles like "Stress causes illness". If you want to stay physically and mentally healthy the articles said avoid stressful events. But such simplistic advice is impossible to follow. Even if stressful events are dangerous , many — like the death of a loved one — are impossible to avoid. Moreover, any warning to avoid all stressful events is a prescription (处方) for staying away from chances as well as trouble. Since any change can be stressful, a person who wanted to be completely free of stress would never marry, have a child, take a new job or move. The idea that all stress makes you sick also takes no notice of a lot of what we know about people. It supposes we' re all vulnerable and not active in the face of the difficult situation. But what about human ability and creativity? Many come through periods of stress with more physical and mental strength than they had before. We also know that a long time without change or challenge can lead to boredom and physical and mental pressure. 1. The result of Holmes-Rahe’s medical research tells us _________________. A. the way you deal with major events may cause stress B. what should be done to avoid stress C. what kind of event would cause stress D. how to deal with sudden changes in life 2.
