Jia Meng used to keep a diary (日记) in Chinese. But one year ago, the

14-year-old girl from Hei Longjiang began to write her diary in English, because

Jia found her mother was reading her diary secretly. She changed the language

because her mother can’t read English. “It’s like killing two birds with one stone.”

said Jia, “My privacy (隐私) became safe and my English improves a lot.”

Jia’s mother is not the only mom who reads her child’s diary. Recently, Renmin

University of China had a national survey among over 2, 3000 parents. The

results show that 40% of parents read their children’s secrets. That’s why, like

Jia, many teenagers try to find ways to protect(保护) their privacy.

Wu Lei, 15, of Shanxi, keeps a diary, too. But he doesn’t write in on paper. He

writes online which he thinks is perfectly safe because his parents “know nothing

about the Internet.”

Lu Huan, 13, of Guangdong, said her parents always secretly listened to the

talk between her friends and her on the telephone in their room. To solve this

problem, Lu asked her parents to buy her a mobile phone.

“Parents want to know what is going on in their children’s lives,” said Shao

Xiazhen, a teenage expert in Beijing. “ But sometimes they go about it the wrong

way.” Shao suggested to teenagers that instead of hiding their secrets, talking to

parents is a better solution. “If your parents know that you are safe, they’ll let

you keep your secrets.”

If you look at the top of your phone, you'll usually see a little symbol that says 3G or 4G. The "G" stands for the "generation" (代)of your mobile network. But the symbols will become things of the past after 5G networks fully arrive. On March 30, Shanghai vice-mayor Wu Qing made the first 5G video call on a Huawei Mate X Smartphone. Shanghai has also become the first city in China to start testing 5G networks. About 100 times faster than 4G networks, 5G will let people download and upload data(数据) faster than ever before. But 5G won't just bring faster mobile internet. People can use it for many other things as well. For example, 5G will help to make self-driving cars safer. Today's self-driving test cars have one problem-lag(延迟). When the car "sees" an obstacle(障碍物), it sends this information to a data center and receives instructions, However, it will be some time before it sends and receives this information. With this kind of lag, the cars might crash because they don't receive instructions in time. With 5G, this lag will be greatly lowered, making the cars safer. 5G could also be used to power the internet of things (IoT), that is, a large online network that connects all things and people. Fast internet speeds will be the key to developing this technology. The IoT could be used in a lot of ways. For example, with IoT, your refrigerator could automatically (自动地) place an order online for eggs when it finds that there are no eggs left inside. (1)Which city was 5G tested for the first time? A. Beijing. B. Shanghai. C. Shenzhen. (2)What can we infer(推测) according to the passage?. A. 5G is widely used in China now. B. 5G networks will make our lives more convenient. C. There are no symbols at the top of our phones. (3)The writer uses self-driving cars as an example to . A. explain how 5G's fast speed can be helpful B. warn about the possible dangers of self-driving cars C. explain how self-driving cars work (4)What is IoT according to the passage? A. A robot that can do housework. B. An online store where you can buy anything. C. A large online network that connects things and people. (5)Which sentence is right according to the passage?

A Healthy eating doesn't just mean what you eat, but how you eat. Here is some advice on healthy eating. Eat with others. It can help you to see others' healthy eating habits. If you usually eat with your parents, you will find that the food you eat is more delicious. Listen to your body. Ask yourself if you are really hungry. Have a glass of water to see if you are thirsty—sometimes you are just thirsty, you need no food. Stop eating before you feel full. Eat breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After you don't eat for the past ten hours, your body needs food to get you going. You will be smarter after eating breakfast. Eat healthy snacks like fruits, yogurt or cheese. We all need snacks sometimes. In fact, it's a good idea to eat two healthy snacks between your three meals This doesn't mean that you can eat a bag of chips instead of a meal. Don't eat dinner late. With our busy life, we always put off eating dinner until the last minute. Try to eat dinner at least 3 hours before you go to bed. This will give your body a chance to digest most of the food before you rest for the next 8-10 hours. B You may not have heard the words "freshman fifteen" before, but they are important for students who are entering university. A freshman is a first-year college student. "Fifteen" means fifteen pounds—the fifteen pounds added to a student's weight in his or her first year. There are a number of reasons why first-year university students gain(获得) weight; but it's encouraging to know that freshman don't have to add these harmful(有害的) fifteen pounds. Mistakes choosing food University kitchens serve many kinds of food. Some students choose unhealthy food, because now their parents are not nearby(在?边) to help them choose. Some students visit the kitchen many times while studying. Late at night, some students get harmful fast food such as hamburgers. Students also have less time for walking, running, and doing sports because of their schoolwork. Eating right If you're careful, you don't have to add fifteen pounds. Here are some ideas. ● Think more about what you eat. ● Eat plenty of vegetables and healthy meat. ●Don't eat desserts(甜点) full of sugar; have fruit after dinner. ●Try not to eat so much junk food (垃圾?品) while you study. ● It's all right to have a little fast food sometimes—but not often. ● Write down the food you eat. ● Walk, run, do sports—Move and you will feel better! Remember that the "freshman fifteen" can happen to anyone. Talk to your friends about it. Together, try to eat healthy food and not eat junk food. Walking, running, and playing sports is always more fun with friends. Help each other and you can have a healthy and happy freshman year.
