U5 Do you want to watch a game show?Lesson Plan Presentation说课稿

Lesson Plan Presentation

The lesson plan I’m going to present is from section A of Go For It! Grade 7B Unit11 What do you think of game shows? I’d like to explain it from the following seven aspects.

I. Analysis of Teaching Material

The goals of section A are to give opinions and talk about likes and dislikes about TV shows. Students have learned some names of shows and the structure “think of ”before, so it will be easier to lead in new kinds of shows and ways of asking for opinions. However, as for likes and dislikes, they are still not able to talk about it.

II. Objectives

In order to fulfill the learning and teaching task of this session, I make out the objectives below: 1. By the end of this session, most students will be better able to ask for opinions by using the structure “What do you think of…”and give opinions by using “I love/ like/don’t like /don’t mind/ cant’ stand it.” This will be achieved by talking about likes and dislikes about TV shows. 2. Students get to know how to make a talk show through groupwork and thus they can develop their communicative ability and learn how to work with others better.

III. Learning and Teaching Focus

Give opinions by using “I love/ like/don’t like /don’t mind/ cant’ stand it.”

IV. Anticipated Difficulties

Students may have problems understanding the meanings of love, like, don’t like, don’t mind and can’t stand because these expressions are first introduced and may have difficulty putting them into practice. The solution to this problem is to use different faces to help students understand the differences among them and help them practice more in conversations.

V. Teaching Methods

I’ll mainly use SPs: presentation, practice and production

VI. Teaching Aids

PPT

VII. Teaching Procedure

Step1. Lead in (2m)

Present different faces and the words love, like, don’t like, don’t mind and can’t stand. Ask students to match the words with the faces.

(Purpose: Use pictures to help students overcome the difficulty of understanding the target language.)

Step2. Presentation (7m)

Present different kinds of TV shows and let students acquire soap opera, sitcom and others like news, ads and fashion shows.

During the presentation of TV shows, help students ask for opinions with “What do you think of it?” , “What does he/she think of it?” and give opinions with “I love/ like/don’t like /don’t mind/

cant’ stand it.”“He/She loves/ likes/doesn’t like /doesn’t mind/ can’t stand it.”

(Purpose: To present different kinds of TV shows and let students talk about them is to make students learn and get familiar with the target language of this session.)

Step3. Listening (8m)

Activity1. Listen to 1b. Find out what Mark say about TV shows and write a letter from1a. Activity2. Listen to 2a and 2b, number the expressions and fill in the blank.

Make students read through the questions first and then help students listen for key words and catch the use expressions while listening.

(Purpose: Help students develop the listening skil l—listen for key words and get further understanding of the target language through listening.)

Step4. Post-listening (7m)

Make a conversation like the one in 2b by talking about the sitcom “Home with Kids”. (Purpose: The English curriculum aims for promoting learner-centeredness and respecting individual differences. So I chose a TV show that students are very interested in and familiar with so that they are eager to talk more with the target language. )

Step5. Pairwork (8m)

Activity1: Present some CCTV shows and ask students to match the English names with the Chinese.

(Purpose: A warming-up step to 3a.)

Activity2. Let students work in pairs to finish 3a. Two students make conversations like:

A: What does Yang Lin/Alan think of…?

B: He/She…

(Purpose: Practice more and get further understanding of the use of the third person.)

Step6. Groupwork (12m)

1. Ask students to use the information in 3a and fill in the blanks in3b.

2. Ask students to discuss the ways of giving a talk show and make one by themselves. Students work in four and decide the host/hostess and interviewees. The topic of the talk show should be: likes and dislikes.

3. Ask several groups to perform the talk shows.

(Purpose: The talk show is a way to excite the students’ interests and make full use of what they have learned in the session. It is also aimed to train students’ cooperative ability. )

Step7. Assignment

Make a survey: write the names of more TV shows. Ask what your friends think of them and why. (Purpose: Help students to go over the target language they have learned in this period.)
