Nanjing ( meaning southern capital ) is one of the six ancient(古代的)capitals of China. Now Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu province (省) with an area of 860 square kilometres.

During Ming Dynasty(朝代),Nanjing got it s present name. Over the long period of history, it had other names like Moling, Stone City, Jianye, Jiankang, Baixia, Shangyuan, Shenzhou, Jiangning, Jiqing, Yingtian and Tianjing. Its name may be different, but the city itself kept it known for its ancient history (历史)and many other places of interest. So it takes an important place in Chinese history.

The Qinhuai River is very beautiful at night. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was the famous (著名的)red-light districts.
