Listening is more important than talking

“Listening is more important than talking.”This proverb means that listening is something worthwhile to consider when we have communication with others.

As the most evolved creature in this planet , we human beings are in possession of two kinds of most powerful capability, which are listening and talking. Compared with talking, more often than not, the significance of listening is way ahead in our life.

Then why is it that listening is more important than talking? First of all, God gave people two ears and one mouth, so it requires us to keep the ratios of listening and speaking by two to one. The capability of listening is the best respect for people around us. Listen attentively when others are speaking is the best and the most effective compliment that we can give them. Besides, when we are accustomed to talking without listening, in the process of which we might only focus on ourselves, feeling of others are ignored and even hurt. Talking is a window through which we convey ourselves, while listening is a door via which we understand others. If we close the door, the essential passport towards mutual understanding, the relation among our family members may bit by bit go alienated. Last but not least, if we spend most of our conversation listening, and we absorb the information given to us,we’ll likely have a well-rounded opinion on the outcome of any decisions that are made.

To conclude, in order to enhance our conversation skills as time goes on, we ought to truly listen t what is being said, process the information, and use it effectively. Good listeners are often some of the best speakers who can improve the quality of the communication. I would like to quote the line of the movie We bought a zoo, which I can’t agree more, to end my essay:The secret to talk is listening.
