讲解写作辅导出国留学推荐信

英文论文中的歧义，主要有词汇歧义、句子歧义，也有少量的语音歧义，对于其易产生的原因，在前两篇中已有介绍，各位留学生可以参考借鉴并作更多的补充。找到了歧义现象产生的原因，就要采取措施防止。以下是优越论文网专业老师给出的建议。

一、消除词汇歧义

1、增加语境法语境对于英语歧义的确定有着重要的作用，语言形式所要表达的意义必须依赖于它所使用的语境才能确定。一般来说，词汇歧义，尤其是词汇意义本身引起的歧义都可以通过语境解除。

2、改变词组结构法词组是由两个以上的词语组合而成的语法单位，出现歧义主要是由于修饰关系不明确或是层次不清楚，因此可以通过改变词组结构来消除歧义。例如He has a light blue shirt有两种解释:他有一件浅蓝色的衬衣。他有一件很轻的蓝色衬衣。改变词组结构以后把原句改成定语从句的形式：He has a shirt that is light blue.

He has a light shirt that is blue.

二、消除语法歧义

1、补充法，即将省略部分补充完整

有些句子成分是省略的，因此可以添上被省略的成分，将句子补充完整，从而使句子具体而明确。如“I like to play volleyball with John better than Peter.”可做如下处理：I like to play volleyball with John better than with Peter.以及I like to play volley ball with John better than Peter does.

2、改变语序法

对于修饰关系不明确、句子成分不清楚等问题，简单的方法就是通过改变语序或词序。比如为了消除It was a plain man’s necktie中plain一词修饰对象不明确而造成的歧义，可通过词序的改变将其改写为：“It was the necktie of a plain man’s”.

3、变换句型法

修饰语和被修饰语的位置不当经常会引起歧义，通过变换句型和结构，使用能清楚表达意思的词语或句子结构可以有效地消除歧义。比如“Tell me if you have time”中if you have time造成的歧义可以改写成“Tell me whether you have time.”或“If you have time，tell me.”

Previously, this internship had never been awarded to anyone before the end of their college sophomore year. Despite all the preparations that will be required for going off to college next fall, Martha told me she is absolutely thrilled about this opportunity and feels it will enhance her university studies. Unlike many students who are not sure which field to pursue, Martha has made clear to us all that her goal is to do Social Work. To this end she has worked tirelessly in our pilot program for mentoring Special Education students mainstreamed into our school. In closing, let me take a moment to recount an incident which I believe speaks volumes about the superior nature of this candidate. Two years ago I was returning from lunch to my office when I saw ahead of me in the hallway 90 pound Martha, arms stretched out between two 180+ pound students, one a Special Ed student and the other a school bully. Other students were standing by motionless or laughing while Martha showed the leadership and courage to immediately put an end to the embarrassing fight that had erupted. It is clear to me as I hope it is to you that this young woman, Martha Holden, is an exceptional candidate, one that would contribute greatly to any program. I wholeheartedly recommend her and wish her the very best in all future endeavors.
