一、选材介绍

本单元的主题是Jobs，单元内容涉及工作的地点。Fun Facts的题材与人们工作地点有关，即museums in London。伦敦以拥有不同主题和门类的博物馆著称于世，其中有历史类的博物馆，如British Museum, Museum of London；有关于科学与自然史博物馆，如Science Museum；关于电学发展的博物馆Faraday Museum，关于水利的博物馆Kew Bridge Steam Museum；有关于家具和室内装饰的博物馆，如Victoria and Albert Museum；还有玩具及儿童博物馆Pollock’s Toy Museum。在那里，人们可以看到Teddy bears’ toy soldiers, doll’s houses等。本栏的文段讲述了Anna和Sonia工作地点，Anna工作在Pollock’s Toy Museum，这个博物馆在1956年迁到现在的地址，其建筑保留着18世纪的原貌。Sonia在Madame Tussaud’s伦敦杜莎夫人蜡像馆工作。杜莎夫人(1761-1850)是该蜡像馆的创始人(1835)，曾任法国宫廷艺术教师(1780-1794)，后移居伦敦(1802)。本段趣味百科简要介绍了这两个博物馆。

二、教学建议

1. 教学目标

根据学生的实际学业水平教师应当设置适当的教学目标：学习和掌握词汇较少的学生可尝试理解文段的大意，知道以下内容：Where are the two museums? / What are in the museums? 中等程度的学生可在理解文段大意的基础上了解文段涉及的细节，如：One room in the museum is for puppets. Many students go to this puppet room to watch the puppet shows. / There are wax figures of famous people from all over the world. 学业水平较好的学生应当完成本栏目的Thinking tasks的三项任务。学习本单元核心语言目标尚有困难的学生，可暂不参与本栏目的活动。

2. 教学过程

1) 读前活动。教师可呈现伦敦著名建筑物(不限于博物馆，但必须包括博物馆)的各种照片，引入主题，激活学生以前的经验。教师可引导学生对于照片进行自由对话，将主题引导到博物馆上来。

2) 读中活动。可以分3次阅读，注意不要分出3个段落阅读，每次都应当是全篇阅读。把阅读重点分成3个层次：了解主旨；获取重要信息；涉及细节并概观全篇。为了让学生体验

多样化的阅读方式，教师可根据情况采取有针对性的措施，如：提出重点关注的问题；限定阅读时间；鼓励读中有意义的圈点，注意不要仅仅圈点生词。

3) 读后活动。组织本文段的读后活动，可以采取以下措施。

(1) 教师提出问题(Thinking tasks)，进行小组讨论，同时提供准备好的表格；

(2) 使用思维导图(mind-map)引导学生按顺序建构全篇的信息框架；

(3) 用英语提供有关两个博物馆的更多、更有趣的信息，进行拓展阅读，然后组织小组活动，完成探究任务。

3. 活动设计与实施

学生阅读文段主要以个人活动来实施，必要时教师可为学生的+人阅读提供有关工具，如表格、问题提示、关键词列表等。读后活动可以采取全班讨论的方式，可由学生主持讨论，教师进行“场外指导”。还可以组织小组活动。可能的话教师要把课上与课外活动结合起来。

三、阅读指导：

1. 阅读策略的指导

阅读者应当根据不同的阅读目的选择不同的阅读策略。前面介绍的3次阅读，可以引导学生体验不同的阅读策略：第一遍阅读，浏览以获取文段大意；第二遍阅读，可跳读以获取主要信息；第三次阅读，扫描并圈点以获取细节。

2. 阅读行为的指导

阅读行为包括阅读姿态、扫描速度、阅读视界宽度、身体与读物的距离、口与手的伴随动作等元素。教师在学生阅读中应随即矫正学生不当阅读行为，如身体与读物距离过小，上身姿势有害健康，手指逐字跟踪，使用尺子“细读”等等。阅读行为矫正主要在读中进行，尽量不要分散学生的阅读注意力。

3. 可能出现的问题及其解决方法

有无伦敦各类博物馆的相关知识对于本篇的阅读会有影响。虽然文段的词汇已经有较为严格控制，但是wax, figure, exactly仍然可能成为没有背景知识学生的理解障碍。教师可以用蜡像制作过程的照片增加学生对于蜡像馆的了解。
