Rooms for the night in private homes with breakfast have been popular with travelers in Europe for many years. The world is filled with smart, talented, educated and gifted people. We meet them every day. A few days ago, my car was not running well. I pulled it into a factory, and the young worker had it fixed in just a few minutes. He knew what was wrong by simply listening to the engine. I was amazed. The sad truth is that great talent is not enough.

I am often shocked at how little talented people earn. I heard the other day that less

than five percent of Americans earn more than $100,000 a year. A business consultant (顾问) who works on the medical business was telling me how many doctors and dentists struggle financially (经济上). It was this business consultant who gave me the phrase, “They are one skill away from great wealth (财富).”

There is an old saying that goes, “Job means …just over broke (破产)?.” And unluckily, I would say that the saying is for millions of people. Because school does not think financial intelligence (智力) is intelligence, most workers “live within their means.” They work and they pay the bills. Instead I recommend to young people to find work for what they will learn, more than what they will earn.

When I ask the classes I teach, “How many of you can cook a better hamburger than McDonald?s?” Almost all the students raise their hands. I then ask, “So if most of you can cook a better hamburger, how come McDonald's makes more money than you?”The answer is obvious: McDonald's is excellent at business systems. The reason so many talented people are poor is because they focus on building a better hamburger and know little or nothing about business systems. The world is filled with talented poor people. They focus on perfecting their skills at building a better hamburger rather than the skills of selling the hamburger.

Food sometimes gets poisoned with harmful things. A person who eats such food can get an illness called food poisoning. Food poisoning is usually not serious, but some types are deadly. The symptoms (症状) of food poisoning usually begin within hours of eating the poisoned food. Fever (发烧) is one of the most common symptoms.

Certain microorganisms(微生物) cause most types of food poisoning. Bacteria (细菌)

and other microorganisms can poison eggs, meat, vegetables, and many other foods. After entering the body, these tiny living things have poisons that make people sick.

Some chemicals (化学品) can also cause food poisoning. They are often added to food while it is being grown, or prepared. For example, many farmers need chemicals on crops to kill insects. Some people may have a bad reaction to those chemicals when they eat the crops.

Some plants and animals have natural poisons that are harmful to people. These include certain kinds of seafood, nuts, seeds, beans, and mushrooms.

When people deal with food properly, the risk of food poisoning is very small. Microorganisms grow quickly in dirty places and in warm temperatures. This means that people should never touch food with dirty hands or put food on unwashed surfaces. Food should be kept in a fridge to stop microorganisms from growing. Meat needs to be cooked completely to kill any dangerous microorganisms. People should also wash food covered with chemicals before eating it. Finally, people should not eat wild mushrooms or other foods that grow in the wild. Some of these foods may have natural materials that are poisonous to humans. What?s more, some types of fish can be poisonous.

Most people will be well from food poisoning after a few days of resting and drinking extra water. If people eat natural poisons, they must go to the hospital right away to have their stomachs emptied.
