New York, February 4,— US company Terrafugia has designed a fully functional and safe flying car for .

The flying car, as it is called, is designed and produced by Terrafugia. It is a roadwothy vehicle, which can convert into a fully functional air plane in just 20 seconds, due to a pair of fold out wings.

The flying car isn't exactly the best looking vehicle on the road or in the sky, but it has managed to solve all the difficulties that any pilot would have.

The ability to convert the vehicle from a car into a plane is controlled directly from the driver's seat, via touch-screen controls. There is also a small cargo (货物)area in the back of the vehicle. The flying car runs on standard unleaded fuel, although Terragugia's Vice President of business development, Richard Gersh has claimed that the vehicle should be treated as an aircraft first and a car second.

The flying car can fly at 115 mph and reach 65 mph on the road. On the ground, with its wings tucked(卷起) up and in , it can fill up with petrol at a normal filling station and fits in an average size garage, according to report in the Sunday Express. It is set to go into production this year and is expected to cost between £125,000 and £160,000.

Richard Gersh, of Terrafugia, the US company which makes the vehicle and hopes to sell 200 a year, said:" This is an aeroplane first and foremost(首要的). The idea is you can drive it to and from a regulation airport. Fully fueled, you can fly it for a range of 400 to 450 miles."

In order to own the vehicle, you must first have a pilot license and certificate(证书) from the Civil Aviation Authority, and the European Aviation Safety Agency.

?Happiness

Happiness tells the story of two people (acted by Lisa Turbot and Danny Roy) who work for different advertising companies. They talk on the phone all the time and don't like each other. But then they communicate by mail and fall in love. This movie will be very popular with teenagers and people who like romances. It also has beautiful music.

?I Scream

In the movie, Paul (acted by Colin Jacks) is a young man who joins a thriller club. Each of the members tries to frighten the others. Paul is told to stay in an old house for the night. Everyone who had tried to stay in the house before has died. This movie is very frightening but also quite silly. It doesn't make sense for Paul to stay in the house when things start to go wrong. Only for people who like thrillers.

?Paul's Heros

This is a very funny war movie set in World War Two. Six soldiers (including Sammy Turblow) have to get to Italy to take secret message to the American army there. During the movie, they dress up as women and fight with Italian workers. You can guess the ending, but it's great fun getting there.

In his travels he meets Dr. Lioyd (acted by Phil Driver) who has found the cure for the illness, but Jack Ross has only twelve hours to get the medicine back to his wife on the other side of America. When I was a young girl, I spent a lot of time with my grandparents, who lived in a community especially for the elderly and near to an old people's home. I remembered when my sister and I played our instruments for them, which was something my grandparents had encouraged. They used to tell me that if someone elderly engaged you in conversation, to make time for them,as you might be the only person they got to talk to that day. I've never forgotten this and still spare time to chat with elderly people if they do engage me in conversation.

So, when I saw the "make a suggestion for how your community would benefit from a $100" idea on the website, I immediately thought of the elderly!

As one of the lucky people to win the 100 dollars kindness contest for my community, I then contacted my local community centre, and explained about Help Others, and what we as a group were trying to do. I then told them that if I had 100 dollars to benefit my community, that I would use it to benefit the elderly who were alone, and had no family. " Yes, we could do a buffet and dance," the centre manager told me!

I thought this was a fantastic idea and a very worthwhile use of the money. We spent the donation towards food and beverages to cater for about 30 elderly residents. A poster was put up to announce the buffet and dance and it was arranged for an afternoon.

I went up to see how it was all going and it turned out to be a very enjoyable afternoon. I was very pleased to see that the people I wanted to benefit had a wonderful and enjoyable time.

I was also very pleased to represent our Help Others group in this way, and to be able to show that you don't need to give a lot to get a lot, because what you get back is priceless!

第二节(共5小题,每小题2分,满分10)

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。

Culture shock isn't a clinical term or medical condition. It's simply a common way to describe the confusing and nervous feelings a person may have after leaving a familiar culture to live in a new and different culture. 51 That can be exciting, but it can also be overwhelming(不可抗拒的).

Everyone feels the pressure to fit in at one time or another —whether they've lived in the area for days or years. 52 All of your experiences before you came to your new home are part of you, and what makes you special.

Here are a few tips for making sure your new culture doesn't overpower the old:

Educate people about your culture. Just because you're the one entering the new culture doesn't mean you should be the one doing all the learning. Take the opportunity to teach classmates and new friends about your culture; they may know little about it. 53 Invite them over for traditional dishes from your culture.

Find a support group. Find kids in your class or neighbourhood who recently moved, too. You can share experience.

Keep in touch with home. You probably left good friends and family when you moved. If it's going to be a long time until your next visit, keep in touch. You've not only left behind people, but also other things — like your favourite spot to hang out. 54

Remember, the key to getting over your culture shock is understanding the new culture and finding a way to live comfortably within it while keeping true to the parts of your culture that you value.

55 Try not to force yourself to change too fast or to change too many things all at once. You will have your own pace of adjusting.

A.It's important to be yourself.

B.Keep pictures around to remind you of home.

C.But the good news is that culture shock is temporary.

D.It will also help them to learn more about you in the process.

E.When you move to a new place, you're bound to face a lot of changes.

F.As long as you find a good combination between old and new, you'll be fine.

G.But don't feel like you need to change everything about yourself so you can stand out less.

参考答案

书面表达

One possible version:

Recently the students in our class have discussed the following topic: which is more important for college graduates to choose jobs, being interested in it or being good at it?

Some agree that the love of job is very important because interest is the best teacher. People are often willing to do what they like doing. If you are not good at it in the beginning, you can work hard and gradually improve your skills to make you good at it. Others hold their view that if you are good at it, you have more chances to achieve success very soon. While you work, you can do all you can to gain the interest in it little by little.

From my point of view, I think we should make full use of our strengths to change them each other regardless of the fact that you like it or you are good at it.
